Firstsource sent a letter to settle a debt in collections. A payment was made and I was told that after the payment cleared that the debt would show paid on my credit report. It’s been a year and the debt is still on my credit report and debt was sold to another debt collector which reached out stating that they had the account now. I reached out to Firstsource letting them know of the issue and said there was nothing they could do, but reach out to the credit card company. I called ******* *** and was told that there’s nothing they could help me with. I’m out almost $1000.00 with no resolution.

Unauthorized Collection Attempt and Failure to Validate Debt

On February 7, 2025, I received a letter from Firstsource Advantage, LLC attempting to collect a debt of $3,931.87 that they claim is owed to **** ** *******. The letter referenced an account ending in 8289 and stated that I owed the balance as of May 31, 2024.

    Key Issues:

    Unauthorized Access to Personal Information:
Firstsource Advantage, LLC obtained my personal financial information and attempted to collect a debt without providing proof of my consent or authorization to access this information.

    Violation of FDCPA and FCRA:
The collection activity constitutes a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) due to improper reporting and handling of my personal data without consent.

    Requested Resolution:

Cease all collection activity immediately unless Firstsource Advantage can provide full debt validation, including a copy of the original contract and proof of assignment from **** ** *******.
Remove any negative reporting associated with this debt from my credit report across all bureaus (*******, ********, and **********).
Provide written confirmation that the debt has been removed from my credit profile and that collection activity has ceased.
Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) moving forward.

I expect a formal response from Firstsource Advantage, LLC within 30 days of receiving this complaint. If they fail to comply, I am prepared to escalate this matter to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for further investigation and enforcement action.

On Feb. 18, 2025, I received a notice about a credit card for a past payment of over $400 on my ***...... card. I tried on several occasions to contact Firstsource but no luck with a call back or anyone answering the phone. The customer service is well none and I still do not have anything resolved.

I previously had a charged off debt with ****** credit from synchrony bank. The amount was $2037.00. This debt was sold to First Source Advantage LLC. Over a month ago I had to call over and over again to get this debt paid as I am in the process of purchasing my first home and I needed confirmation that this debt was paid in full. I paid this debt in full on February 28. This company keeps telling me “a supervisor” will call me and nobody ever calls. Every time I call back to simply have a confirmation of payment letter sent to me they say they cannot help me and only a supervisor can that has to “give me a call back”.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
What is neglected to be mentioned is how many times I had to call and request this information, and on said day I did not receive any call back, I have never received a call back from this company. This transaction was incredibly important to me in the event that I am trying to purchase a house so I would have answered any call that came through. I also am unsure what address they say they mailed my letter to because they don’t have my updated address so it’s not likely I will even receive the letter I need. I need to know that this has been reported to the credit bureaus so at the least I will see a jump in my score to reflect this pay off and will be listed on my credit report as paid in full.

I was contacted by First Source Advantage regarding my ****** Credit Card in the amount of $1,6XX.XX. I made a one time payment of $405.00 to the account on 01/17/2025. Upon consideration, I decided to do a settlement offer of $605.14 on their website. The settlement offer was 50% of the remaining balance so I decided why not. Upon paying the settlement balance with my debit card, I was sure the account would be closed and the debt would be considered settled and closed. To my surprise, on 02/19/2025, upon logging in to First Source Advantage, I was astounded to see a balance of $605.14?????? What is the point of offering a settlement and CONTINUE to collect payment? I feel defrauded by this company and their shady antics. I want this account CLOSED since you offered a settlement and I took it. WHY do I have an updated balance? This is disgusting work by a company.

I am filing a formal complaint against Firstsource Advantage LLC for failing to comply with my repeated requests for proper debt validation and for continuing to contact me via phone despite my written disputes.

I disputed the validity of this debt and requested a thorough validation in accordance with federal law, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and relevant bankruptcy laws. Additionally, the alleged debt was included in Chapter 7 bankruptcy filed on January 2024, making the claim of collection improper and potentially unlawful. The alleged debt was retrieved in February 2024 by Firstsource and was done so unlawfully under an automatic stay.

Firstsource Advantage acquired this alleged debt while the bankruptcy case was active and violated the automatic stay, which prohibits any collection activity, including the purchase, transfer, or collection of debts, during an active bankruptcy according to Automatic Stay (11 U.S.C. § 362).

On 12/30/2024, 01/03/2025, 01/29/2025, I sent Firstsource Advantage, LLC a written request for debt validation. In response, they provided insufficient documentation that does not meet the legal requirements under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), specifically 15 U.S.C. § 1692g(b). Firstsource has NOT properly validated the alleged debt.

Despite my request, they have not provided the legally required documentation, nor have they ceased collection activities. Instead, they continue to call me on my cell phone and home phone as well as my husband's cell phone, which constitutes harassment under the FDCPA. This company is in violations of the 47 U.S.C. § 227b)(1)(A) under the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act) violation.

I have no contractual agreement with this company and am not liable for the debt they are attempting to collect.
