      RCN did some upgrade to their system without letting me know so now my modem doesn't work properly with their internet anymore. Now I have spotty internet (it stops working every few hours for 5-15 minutes) until the new modem comes in. And when I called for help, I got one technician telling me it's the modem and another telling me that my modem should be supported. If you are going to mess with someone's internet that they are paying for, you need to give them advance notice. I would have purchased a different modem earlier but there was no warning, even though they know exactly which modem I own because it's registered with them. I only stick with them because they are dirt cheap compared to other internet providers.

      Ive had this service for two months 30 days ago on a Thursday at 8 PM. The Internet went in and out every two minutes for four days straight until they fixed it lo and behold the next month on a Thursday at 8 PM. It started this whole process again I had ******* for a decade with zero issues The timing and consistencies of these outages tell me that this is planned somehow there is no way that just happens both times on a Thursday both times at 8 PM the same exact way

      This is my second time using RCN/ Astound both times have been bad . I called the customer service line was greeted by a woman as normal. I waited 45 minutes on a hold to be told theres nothing they can do to disconnect my service. I asked them why they cant disconnect. They said they must attempt the disconnect after the next billing cycle stating that they must attempt to charge my card once more before they can disconnect. Essentially refusing to disconnect my service at my own will. Ive been charged for the past three months for service that I havent used since February. Its May now. Ive since switch services but cant get my service disconnected from Rcn because they refused to disconnect it until they can milk my account for one last month.

      Hello, Zion. Thank you for sharing this feedback with Astound. Although we near enjoy seeing a customer disconnect, we strive to make the process as seamless as possible. Disconnects can be placed at any time, though internet-only accounts can only be disconnected at the final date of the billing cycle. For example, if your billing cycle's last day was May 27th, and you requested a disconnection, that disconnection could only take place on May 27th, or the 27th of whatever month of your choose. You can place a disconnection request via our live chat at ******************************.       Internet connection is terrible with Astound and goes down randomly for no reason. My bill jumped by $35 dollars without warning which prompted my shift to Xfinity for now. They tack on all sorts of fees.

      Bad customer service on the billing issues side. They do not work with new customers with payment arrangements for 6 months and do not advise new customers of this at time of installment, I was given 3 different figures to pay and they would not work with me for 3 days to pay until pay date. Very, Very, not happy with Astound service I am looking for a new service provider.

      We've been a customer for years. As of April 2025, they can't find our check/payment,and want to charge a late fee for it. We have no control over the **** not delivering on time or delivering late. It's also not our fault if the billing department can't do their job, and put payments through in a timely manner. We've had it take as short as 5 days for a check to clear, and up to 11 days to clear. They need to fix this issue immediately and take the late fee off our account. Spotty service is a problem too.

      In the beginning they had a great deal for newcomers and especially those who were financially strapped. This lasted for two years. Then this last new contract went up 20$/month with no help in trying to find me a better deal and then when I go to cancel my contract, they are charging me for a month that is not being used. Not cool and one big way to lose customers old and potential new.

      I signed up for Astound internet on 3/17/2025, and was promised a free first month of service as part of their promotion. I was fine with the initial bill of $36.42, which they said covered one-time fees (activation, shipping, etc.).However, the second bill for $73.43 included overlapping internet service charges for two internet lines at the same address, between 4/3/25 and 4/17/25. This is a clear double charge for services I never requested nor used. When I raised the issue, Astound agents repeatedly deflected, and eventually stopped responding altogether. I was told by an employee on 4/8/25 that the issue would be escalated and resolved within ***** hours. That never happened.I have written chat logs proving that I made every effort to resolve this fairly and in good faith. Despite that, Astound is now attempting to close my account and continue billing me incorrectly without addressing the dispute. Their customer service has been unresponsive and dismissive throughout.This is deceptive billing, and the lack of accountability is unacceptable. *** filed a formal complaint with the *** and will continue pursuing this until the issue is resolved properly. I cannot recommend Astound to anyone looking for transparent or trustworthy service.

      Astounds business model is to lure customers with low advertised promotional rates and then pad the bill with junk fees such as the $20/month Network Access and Maintenance Fee. After several years of ever-increasing junk fees, I cancelled and then found that I had to pay $60 for unused service after I returned the equipment because Astounds policy is to require that equipment be returned BEFORE the end of the final billing cycle (unlike other carriers who have a ***** period for return of equipment after cancellation/disconnect). This shady company is no bargain.

If you cancel within your current billing period, your internet service will be available until your billing period ends. Equipment needs to be returned by the final day of your billing cycle to avoid additional charges, but not necessarily prior to that.
