I signed up for Astound internet on 3/17/2025, and was promised a free first month of service as part of their promotion. I was fine with the initial bill of $36.42, which they said covered one-time fees (activation, shipping, etc.).However, the second bill for $73.43 included overlapping internet service charges for two internet lines at the same address, between 4/3/25 and 4/17/25. This is a clear double charge for services I never requested nor used. When I raised the issue, Astound agents repeatedly deflected, and eventually stopped responding altogether. I was told by an employee on 4/8/25 that the issue would be escalated and resolved within ***** hours. That never happened.I have written chat logs proving that I made every effort to resolve this fairly and in good faith. Despite that, Astound is now attempting to close my account and continue billing me incorrectly without addressing the dispute. Their customer service has been unresponsive and dismissive throughout.This is deceptive billing, and the lack of accountability is unacceptable. *** filed a formal complaint with the *** and will continue pursuing this until the issue is resolved properly. I cannot recommend Astound to anyone looking for transparent or trustworthy service.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

Astounds business model is to lure customers with low advertised promotional rates and then pad the bill with junk fees such as the $20/month Network Access and Maintenance Fee. After several years of ever-increasing junk fees, I cancelled and then found that I had to pay $60 for unused service after I returned the equipment because Astounds policy is to require that equipment be returned BEFORE the end of the final billing cycle (unlike other carriers who have a ***** period for return of equipment after cancellation/disconnect). Consistent with the Terms and Conditions of Service, under the policy, your internet subscription is charged at the beginning of your billing cycle. If you cancel within your current billing period, your internet service will be available until your billing period ends. Equipment needs to be returned by the final day of your billing cycle to avoid additional charges, but not necessarily prior to that. Wish I could leave 0 stars. Initally Astound was great but **** had regular outages leading us to buy mobile hotspots so we could continue to work from home. We were told outages are normal even though the first 1.5 years on Astound has no outages. We were surprised with a price increase which we didnt receive communication on and were told after the fact it was on an email in our account which we havent been able to access. Just before a vacation we inquired as to why the pricing went up as we were in the middle of yet another internet outage. Told them we were leaving on vacation and that wed follow up once we returned. We return to find the internet was out as our service had been disconnected, we hadnt requested any such deactivation nor was there any communication we received about it. Astound sends us physical mail all the time but nothing about this which is odd. Nobody could answer why we hadnt received communication about where to send our devices since the service had been disconnected by Astound. We have all the autopayment confirmations so truly a bizarre experience. Definitely avoid, hard to believe we found a company worse than ****************Astound Broadband powered by RCN

I dont usually write reviews, but my experience with Astound Broadband was frustrating enough to warn others.I signed up for a plan advertised as $20/month for 6 months, with free installation and a $100 gift card. Sounds great on paper, but I ended up paying $175+ in just 2 months due to hidden charges, poor communication, and misleading policies.Installation Charges: Was told by both the technician and pamphlet that installation was free, but got charged. Support later claimed a promo code was needed never mentioned upfront.Autopay Terms Buried in Fine Print: You need to set up bank account autopay within 30 days to get the discount. This info was hidden deep on page 4 of the billing statement, not shown during account setup or onboarding.Bounce & Late Fees for Payments That Never Failed: I added my bank account and payment was marked processed, but next cycle showed late + bounce fees. My bank confirmed Astound never initiated any transaction. Support refused to accept fault.Lost $100 Gift Card: Due to their billing error, I was marked a "defaulter" and denied the promo gift ******* Refund on Cancellation: I canceled on Day 1 of a new billing cycle and was told Id be charged for the full month regardless of usage. No pro-rating, no exceptions.Customer Service is a Joke: Every call ends with its in your billing statement. **** often give conflicting or incorrect info like being told I wouldnt get autopay benefits anymore, only to see them applied later by chance. No accountability, just copy-paste responses.Astound may seem affordable, but their practices are misleading, opaque, and frustrating. They charge return fee of $25 for running cc if it doesnt go thru. Few times forgot to transfer money in and other time card expired and didnt know and they charge you a $25 fee. Not writing a check why is there a fee and payment goes thru 2nd time its ran. Something to be done about this I dont think its properAstound Broadband powered by RCN

Absolutely the worst company *** ever dealt with. **************** is trash, they are rude, unhelpful and sexist. On more than one instance have I had issues with not only the service and quality of the product but the humans who answer calls, come out and install or any one who gets a paycheck from rcn are complete waste of space people. They constantly add fees to bills that dont exist. Charge $80 the moment you cancel to return their items to a store but there is not an actual store in the state I live in. Company shouldnt be allow to operate if not brick and mortar store exists. Company shouldnt be in business. I am switching to spectrum next month. And I cant wait to never see astound come across my email ever again. Company is crooked and full of thieves.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

On 3/2: We kept having our bill get more and more expensive and they refused to reduce the rate so we canceled our service effective 3/5. Within minutes of hanging up our internet service was terminated. When I called back to see what happened, they insisted it was an issue on our end. Finally after back and forth our internet magically turned back on however it is so slow and is buffering which is an issue we never had in the past. I asked what is happening and she said she ensured it was the same speed as we have been paying for and she bed she could do was send a technician out (our service is ending in 2 days).Astound Broadband powered by RCN

Worst ************************** Frustration I became an Astound (RCN) customer just a month ago, and Im already searching for a new provider. The level of incompetence Ive experienced is beyond belief. From day one, countless errors on RCNs end left me without internet for three days right at the start of my service.I specifically requested a self-install, yet for some inexplicable reason, they scheduled a technician. When I canceled the unnecessary appointment, I was then told I couldnt pick up my modem at their physical location. I wasted two hours there before they finally handed it over. I went home, plugged it in, and still no service.I spent another two hours on the phone before being assured my service would be active the next day. The next day came, still no internet. Another two-hour phone call later, I was told a technician needed to come out, something that could have been avoided entirely. When the technician finally arrived three days later, they immediately identified the issue. RCN had coded my service incorrectly. A simple backend fix would have solved everything, but instead, I was put through this exhausting ordeal.Frustrated beyond words, I called customer service to request some sort of credit for the time and hassle. Thats when I encountered ********, the supervisor who managed to be the worst part of this entire experience. Rude, dismissive, and completely unsympathetic, she made it clear that my frustration didnt matter. Any remaining patience I had was gone after that conversation. It was the final push I needed to switch providers.If youre considering Astound/RCN, dont do it. Their service is unreliable, their customer support is a nightmare, and if something goes wrong, expect to fight tooth and nail just to get basic assistance. They are the worst cable/internet provider!!! **************** is inconsistent, giving the impression that they are a "get-over" company. I called to get and extension for payment, which they granted. I paid $1 more than what I was quoted by the **** I paid on the date that I promised to pay. Today, they disconnected the service because it should have been $2.80 more that the amount quoted by the ***** to get it reconnected, I had to the next bill. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS COMPANY!!! As soon as another provider is allowed in my apartment building, I will IMMEDIATELY discontinue their service. On top of that, their service is mediocre at best.Astound Broadband powered by RCN
