      Did two rentals in Spain in April. Avis has a new policy where they charge you for a full tank of gas when you pick up the car. It was about 80 euros. When I brought back the car, both times, the tank as full. The attendant stated that they would refund me the money in 5-7 days. Nothing ever occurred. I tried to call them. You cannot get through to any of the numbers listed. They are busy. So, I disputed this with the credit care company. Be careful, they tend to rush through the process.

      I will never use this company again. After renting a vehicle for a week with no problems, I received a letter 30 days after return that there was 'tire damage' and my card would be charged. The company would not provide any tangible evidence that said damage was incurred during the term of my rental. After an exchange via email, I received two emails that stated my card would not be charged, but my card was charged the day after. I had to file a dispute with my credit card. Fraudulent actions. Google reviews indicate I am not the only customer to experience these acrions.

      AVOID AVIS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!
      My wife had the worst customer service experience of her life with Avis. She first received a vehicle with a heavy cigarette smoke smell at the downtown Dayton location and there were no other vehicles at the location for her to swap.
      She then had to go to the Dayton airport location and the Avis rep was awful and not empathetic at all! He even told my wife that the other location was lying or implied that my wife was lying about them not having other vehicles. She got a different vehicle, which was smaller than what we paid for and one of the seatbelts did not work. After a half an hour of trying to fix the seatbelt, they gave her a third vehicle. At that point, she had already lost about 2 and a half hours of her day.
      I called customer service several times and one rep told me to call back after my wife was done with the rental to get a full refund of the prepaid amount. After returning the vehicle, customer service told me the best they could do was a 20% refund. After arguing and telling the rep that I was lied to, he offered me a 40% refund.
      Even when my wife returned the vehicle to Greensboro, NC, at 10:50AM, the location was closed with a sign saying to come back at 11:15AM. She wasted even more time having to go back later.
      I cannot believe how utterly incompetent this company was at every step of the way! They could offer to pay me to drive their rental cars and I would refuse. It was the worst customer service experience we have ever had!

      Thank you for your reply, we have checked our records and as a replacement vehicle was provided and more than 500 miles were driven during your rental we do feel that the rental did have value and therefore would not offer a full credit. We do show that a refund for 40% of your rental in the amount of $70.62 was issued on May 18th, 2023 to the Visa card ending in ***** We do feel that this is a fair and reasonable credit and that no additional credit is owed.

      I was lied to by an Avis customer service rep, who informed me when we initially got into the rental that we could simply call back after we returned the vehicle and receive a full refund. The fact that we used the rental car is completely irrelevant. Had I known that we were being lied to, I would have returned the car immediately. Even if Avis provided me a full refund for the rental, I would never use the company again.

      Flew into Phoenix Airport on 4/21/23 and picked up my vehicle through the Wizard no contact app. Keys were in the car and I did a walk around. Noticed some dings and scratches but nothing that appeared aggregious so drove away. Mileage was 19487. Returned car to same location days later in the morning and dropped off. I gave the keys to the attendant who said "all good" and didn't think anything of it. Fast forward to 3 weeks later I get a damage notice via email (no-reply email) saying there was "crack,scratch,dent" with a severity of "8+ to the left front bumper. There were two images allegedly attached to the pdf but were blacked out. Interestingly the check-in mileage does not match on the two reports... one says 19888 on my original receipt while the "damage" document says 19654. Shameful of Avis to do this kind of manipulation. As a Disabled Veteran of 20+ years I will now be taking my business elsewhere. Avoid Avis at all costs. Thank you.

      Update: 5/24/23: Spoke with the 3rd party agency (representative Jessie) who stated they are "taking a look at it" to indicate they are reviewing again and should receive an update in typically 1-2 weeks. I will update this review when completed.

      I tried to book through their customer service and they told me my cc wouldn't go through so I booked online with the same cc and no issues. When I went to pick up my car they had 2 reservations for me and both were pre-paid. I contacted them the day I picked up my car and they said they were going to refund one of my reservations within 3-10 business days. Well, 16 business days have passed and still no refund. I have called them 5 different times and still no refund. They charged me almost a thousand dollars and still have not refunded my cc. They are a fraud. DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS.

      Budget has horrible customer service and no customer satisfaction. After booking my reservations, I called back to request a location change. The agent advised me that there was no change in the rate when I got my reservations confirmation, it was increased double the rate. I’ll called back immediately to be advised them and was advised that it will take 48 hours for them to correct it, after calling them back 60 hours later, the reservation had not been corrected and I was further advised that there was nothing that they could do and I was obligated to pay the new rate if I wanted to keep the reservations.
      Relocating is difficult in the self budget added more stress 4 days prior to me leaving I had to look for another company to move my things thank goodness that Penske did work with me to get a truck that was close to my original rate with budget budget, lacks in customer service, unethical and customer satisfaction. I would never ever suggest, a company like this that makes changes without approval of its customers

      Caution fraud alert! I prepaid for the gas and they charged me a full tank of gas when I returned (and at well above market price). I only used a quarter of a tank. Please report this company to the BBB.

      Non existent phone support. I’ve made two reservations within the last week and go to pick up and no car available. One they had a car but the registration expired. Horrible horrible horrible. I don’t know how they are in business.
