1 starVery poor experience after my rental vehicle was returned with a minor scratch. I did not attempt to refute since I admitted I caused the scratch, but they billed me over $2000 and included additional repairs. Incredibly poor business practice on their behalf, and unfortunately I had to pay out of pocket.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI made a reservation online, and prepaid for the reservation including the unlimited toll. After returning my car, i saw my final bill and somehow unlimited toll option I paid for was not listed on the receipt but the same charge appeared under "nonrefundable prepay". Spoke with multiple associates who gave me different answers, so I asked to speak with a manager multiple times but was told to wait for 48 hours. Of course I did not receive any phone call after waiting for 48 hours, but instead received a separate email from AVIS with itemized toll charges. Now, they are claiming that I need to pay toll fees in addition to the unlimited toll service I paid for, because the agent at the counter modified my reservation by removing the unlimited toll option they still charged me for. They can't refund the unlimited toll I paid for because it's a "nonrefundable prepay" charge, but they also can't remove the itemized toll fee because "unlimited toll" was not added to my reservation. I already paid $331.96 for the unlimited toll, but AVIS is charging me additional $293.24 for toll because of an error made by an agent during the check-in process. Beware. I have been President Club member for 14 years and have been renting with Avis for 20+ years. However, my loyalty ends today, as I have never been treated with such unprofessionalism and with such mistreatment as at Avis Aventura Mall.
On August 2, 2023, I reserved a car from Avis for one of my employees flying in for business. The rental was to be ready at noon for pick up on August 20th. I reserved a Ford Edge or similar large car plus my usual 2+ upgrades that I always receive. Avis called me on the day of pickup to tell me that they didn’t have a car at noon, and we must come in at 2:00 pm to get a car. Not only do they not have a car, when I told them about my upgrade they told me they have ZERO upgrades and am getting a smaller car than I requested.
By my President Club member status, per Avis’s policy I am entitled to receive two upgrades. When I brought that to the Avis representative’s attention, she told me that was “too bad” and if I wanted a guarantee, I needed to be a Chairman Club member. I told him that this has never happened to me in the 20+ years I have been renting with Avis. She rudely replied - “there’s a first time for everything” and told me if I was unhappy to rent somewhere else. I can no longer support a company who does not honor their own policies or even attempt to rectify the situation and just turns their customers away. Shameful.Avis Rent A Car

1 starThis was the absolute worst in travel I ever experienced and NEVER has anyone put me in such a situation that could have killed me. I'm a single woman that was traveling from North Carolina to New York alone. The right front passenger tire went flat on 195. I had to sit in a rest area that only had vending machines and restrooms. I waited 3 hours for help through the rental cars Roadside Assistance. When the guy showed up he saw both front tires with steel cords exposed and no tread. He was extremely surprised a rental car company would put me in that vehicle considering how dangerous it was to drive. Avis/Budget had instructed me to go to Ronald Reagan airport and they would be expecting me so they could give me a replacement vehicle. As I was pulling out of the rest area, the driver side front tire went flat. At this point it's 5 pm with 6 more hours of driving. I didn't know what to do because I wasn't waiting at an unmanned rest Rest Area on I95 alone. I was starting to panic because if I had to wait another 3 hours which would be close to dark. So I drove to the airport but there is no way in **** I trusted this company to give me a safe car. I bought a ticket and flew to Albany NY. In the meantime my family knows the situation I'm in and was very anxious and fearful for my safety.
I am very uncomfortable driving now. It sucks to keep replaying the car crashing and flipping down the highway in my head. How many other people could have been hurt or killed. A day later, I spoke to the Asst. Manager where I picked up the car at ****** * ***** (OAJ) airport and reported this to the manager. She was so upset and she was reporting it to her manager, Kyle ******* who also manages the Wilmington Avis/Budget rental car company. The Asst. Manager assured me that Kyle ******* and possibly managers higher up would contact me within 48 hours, which did not happen. No one from the agency has returned my calls or responded to my complaint.Avis Rent A Car

1 starThe worst company ever I went to Avis through Uber of course I have to have a Bank Account to get a car rental I was paying weekly out of my Uber Account I quit Uber due to being Double Charged I have send them my personal Bank Account information etc. etc it’s now going on 2 months this company hasn’t once fix this issue I hate this company I thought you they were trustworthy I sure was wrong.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI had rented a car from AVIS (exact address below) for 6 days. They charged $150 miscellaneous fee. When I called them asking what the charges were about, they said "cleaning fee". When I asked them to show proof of the car being dirty, they had no answer and hung up the call.

1 starI rented a Ram Rebel and paid in full on 2/3/2023. When I got to my destination I checked to see how much my hold would be only to find out I had a pending charge of $3463.05. I immediately called AVIS and was assured that was a mistake and that it I would not be charged that amount. I woke up this morning to find the charge for exactly $3463.05. I utilized the AVIS website to dispute the charge only to be emailed that I used the "select and go upgrade." I called that day to see what this was about and they told me I did use this upgrade (I don't even know what this upgrade is at this point). When he explained to me what the upgrade was I told him I did not use it. I got in the vehicle I was assigned and left. There was no upgrade. They are looking into it but their customer service department did not give me the notion that this would be handled correctly. This is robbery and fraud. I will be seeking an attorney if this is not corrected.Avis Rent A Car

1 starMade a reservation online to pickup the car at the Champaign, IL location at Willard Airport. When making the reservation, I used my debit card and of course they immediately took out the $463.86 from my account. It said on the website, that they take both credit and debit cards for payment. When we arrived at the airport to pick up the car, they told us that they could not use a debit card because they are an airport and use only credit cards. We do not have a credit card, so had to leave and immediately go to another car rental to get a car, because we were leaving the next day. No where online does it say that you could only use a credit card at this location. We are very dissatisfied. When I asked them about getting my money back, I had to call the customer service, upon which they told me it would be 3 - 10 days before I get refunded! Funny how they can immediately take my money, but not refund it immediately. It has been a week, and I am still waiting for the refund.

1 starI reserved a 16’ budget truck for my moving needs. When I went to pick up my reservation. The lady behind the counter told me she saw the reservation but gave the truck away and only had a 12’ truck. Considering everyone seemed to be moving the same weekend as I it was the only truck left in the city as I called around all day. I call customer service for three days straight to get no resolution. The truck itself had black tape over the engine light. It took me double the trips (mileage) and an uncompleted project! Customer service finally answered and said it was my fault for not knowingly how to pack my items or move! Worst experience ever I don’t recommend anyone to use this company and if you choose too good luck with the unprofessional customer service.Avis Rent A Car
