1 starI just had a horrible experience with Avis at the Sacramento International Airport. I rented a car for 4 days and was told by the guy at the night desk (Sept. 10, 2023) that If I extended the rental by one day the cost would be $ 76. However, on the day (Sept 13th) that I extended the rental by phone, they charged me $ 115. When I drove to the Airport to talk with the same guy, he laughed it off like it was a joke, and said that I should have known about the extra fees. When I went to talk to his manager (Vince), he asked me how much he should drop the price to appease me, but in the end, he did nothing. He then reverted to the voice of ' sorry I have no power - please get lost Bro!'. It was difficult to experience this kind of unethical treatment from a major brand like Avis. I plan to never use this company again.Avis Rent A Car

1 starWe rented a Ford Expedition for a ski trip in March 2023. We rented the car for 6 days, obviously not cheap. The day before we were to come home my daughter became very sick and we ended up in ICU. We extended the vehicle several days and upon returning I worked with the desk agent to adjust our fees since they jacked up the price for a couple of the days that we rented it, the agent was helpful.
The car was returned in the condition we received it. In August we received a letter from Avis stating we were being charged $2300 for damage to the vehicle for stealing the air bags. Are you F-ing kidding me. One i didn't know that was a thing and two this was 5 months after we rented the vehicle. Everyone at Avis had their story straight though on how it could take 5 months to notify us of this BS damage so we were stuck with it. Will never rent again!!!!!!!!!Avis Rent A Car

We have checked our records and show that when the vehicle was returned on March 21st, 2023, it was immediately pulled from service. Due to the required parts and repairs the vehicle was not able to be rented again until June 29th, 2023. Based on this we do find the damage charges to be valid.

Quite literally non-existent as they hide in the back and not come to the counter because they’re on the phone with their cousin talking about how someone could talk to their father in a certain way. 1 starMy experience is and was very poor. I rented a vehicle with Avis on July 12, 2023. The first vehicle I picked up reeked of cigarette smoke, so I requested a different car to which they did accommodate. While in this vehicle, I was driving on the freeway and a large truck kicked up a rock and chipped the windshield. Didn't think to much of it, figured they would be able to get it repaired and send me the bill. Well they did and they couldn't just repair, they had to replace the entire windshield which came to a grand total of $1,156.53. As soon as I received their correspondence I reached out immediately to get this matter resolved. When I initially called in the gentleman I spoke with assured me that my claim could be resolved by my insurance company Liberty Mutual, and if I didn't want to go through them he could reduce the amount owed by 20% (Seems Scammy but ok). I opted to have my insurance company resolve it and filed my claim. The claim was approved almost immediately within 48 hours, to which Liberty sent an email to request how they would like to proceed with accepting payment. AVIS did not respond to their email, so I emailed AVIS directly 2 times, to which I did not receive any response. Fast forward to today, and come to find out my credit card was charged the entire amount, and they are unwilling to refund, reverse, or help me in the customer service department. The claims department they've forwarded to me is stating over an hour wait to speak with someone, and if I would like to speak with the supervisors, supervisor, it will take 24 to 48 hours. The experience I received is unacceptable, and I will be leaving my review in across numerous websites, and travel agencies IE (Expedia, Travelocity, ETC.).Avis Rent A Car

Avis does not wish to deceive anyone we do our best to make sure that all pertinent information is made available to our customer within the terms and conditions of the rental. By way of explanation, in the event you decline our Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) which waives your responsibility in the event of damage than you as the renter are held responsible for all damages that may occur during the rental period. In the event that damage happens we do hold you responsible and do encourage you check with your personal insurance or credit card company to see if the damage is covered with them. If the damage is covered, you would have to file a claim with them and request that they reimburse you for the charges paid. We do apologize but we do not accept 3rd party payments in these cases.

1 starAvis is the worst! Rented in PHL and returned in PHL. Stopped and filled the car up with gas, beyond when the pump automatically stops. Still charged a fuel service fee. Nissan Sentra holds 10.8 gals of fuel, I stopped 10 miles from the airport, filled up, but still charged as they indicated the fuel level was 9.1 of 10.8. That means in the 10 miles from fillup to the airport a Nissan Sentra (avg 38mpg) used 1.7 gals in 10 miles.
Avis is a scam and should be shutdown for these fuel surcharges as it is THEFT!!! DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS PERIOD!!Avis Rent A Car

1 starMade reservations for rental car they charged me 150 deposit and 250 total 400 dollars took out of my account and then when I get there they said they can't take my card and might refund in 10 days!! 1 starPoor customer service. I had rented a car for 2 weeks because both mine were in shop for repairs. I was charged $1,081 when I picked up car. I was able to return the car after 4 days because mine was fixed. My receipt said my total charge was $615. When I called about my $469 refund I was told no refund would be issued. I was not informed of this when I dropped the rental back off or I would have kept the car the whole two weeks. I was told since I paid for the 2 weeks they would keep my moneyAvis Rent A Car

1 starI rented a rental for 30 days a Ram pick up truck I picked up on July 8th return the truck on august 8th for 1300 when I returned the truck Avis charged my credit card 3700 and put me on a do not rent list. All this company do is rip ppl off I have filed a complaint and is also looking to sue.. i have been doing business with Avis for the past 3 years and this is not the first time they have done this to me at this point i have had enough. They need to be held accountable for stealing from ppl charging way more than what they are supposed to be charging is a crime and against the law..Avis Rent A Car

While rentals are quoted based on reservation details and any changes made at the time of pick up, if rental use deviates from what is contracted, Avis will bill for the actual use which can include late penalties, one way penalties, and recovery penalties. From review of your rental U603913542, your rental was approved to be returned on July 14th to the same location and as the vehicle was kept until August 8th and returned to a different location, you were billed for that use.
We apologize that there was not a more favorable outcome to your dispute. Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

1 starDo not rent from Avis. They invoiced us for a rental for another person in another country than where we were and left it to us to prove that they were wrong. It ruined our vacation and costed us a lot of money. Avis also refuse to advise how this could happen and that they will delete any/all information they have on us, so that can avoid this from happening in the future.
As for the return of the money they stole from us, then they are "working on it" and will revert soonest. Wonder how it would work if you rented a vehicle from they and advised them you were
"working" on the payment to them ??
