      Rented a car but when I got there the didn't have my car and made me upgrade to an SUV for an upcharge. I rented the car for 7 days and was told if I return it early I could be refunded those days I didn't use it for. I returned it 4 days later and was charged the full price. I felt scammed and exploited because of the situation.

      Horrible corporate processes and even worse customer service. Worst experience I’ve had te to g a car! I am leaving 1 star because you can’t go lower!

      I had a one day rental in New York City, dec 23- Dec 24, Returning in Rochester, NY, (Jefferson Road location)
      That day was bad weather and the person from Avis called and told me to leave the car in the parking lot with the keys under the matt. They said we are short staffed because of the weather but someone from another store was making there way over to Jefferson Road. Once we got to the location to return the car (it was closed like they said) we called the customer service 1-800 and told them the car was at the location. We took a picture of it (Thank goodness) 9 months after they charged my account $290.40. They said the car was stolen from the parking lot. I have now contacted the Avis Budget Customer Service 3 times and each time they say they will credit my account but they never do.
      I have spent hours on hold waiting.
      Buyer Beware - There is absolutely no good car rentals anymore.

      THIS COMPANY IS HERE TO STEAL YOUR MONEY!!!!! I am waiting for a refund from them for over 2 months already. They sent me an email that they issued the refund and I need to contact my bank. I did so and my bank says they never issued my refund. Do not rent from them!!!!!!!!!!!

      Do not use this company!
      They quoted me a price of $899.25 for a lengthy rental.
      When I returned the vehicle, they did not give me any sort of itemized receipt or explanation of vehicle return status.
      Several days later, they charged my account $1168.27 with zero warning or explanation. I have attempted to get them to refund the difference, or at least explain the pricing discrepancy, on multiple occasions and through multiple channels. They have never reversed the charge and refused to explain the pricing discrepancy. The document I signed upon return of the vehicle had thorough detail on it which indicated I returned the vehicle in the same condition I found it in, and abided by the terms of my agreement. There was no reason for Avis to omit pricing on that document, but that is exactly what they have done. they have committed fraud by overcharging me and not honoring the quote they gave me, the terms of which I had abided by to the letter.

      I wish I could give negative stars. Long line. Everyone in the line said the same thing. “I wish I could have used National or Hertz but I HAD ago use awful Avis”. Everyone hates you.

      Avis is the worst, Do Not RENT. They wanted to charge me $450 for cleaning dirt from the car . Which I was under he impression that cleaning was something they supposed to do anyway .l call customer service ,after about au hours on the phone they reversed changes but I don’t need that type of stress over dirt in the car wdh . We rented from Avis for about a year here and there but that was the last time even if I have to pay a few extra dollars oh well .Avis I’m done

      We have checked our records and found that the cleaning fee was due to smoking in the vehicle. Please note per the rental terms and conditions smoking is prohibited in our vehicles and result in a cleaning fee of $450.00. Additionally, we show that due to the smoke odor and required cleaning the vehicle was out of service for 2 days after it was returned.

      Avis started to make additional profit on customers by putting all the cost on customers and taking no responsibility. They charge us $10 a gallon if we don't fill up the tank back to full, but they don't fill it up, so the next customer has to do it. Since it's practically impossible to refill to exactly the same amount as the partially full tank I received from Avis, I put more gas, but they don't deduct this from my bill. So the customer pays for the previous customer, and Avis makes money on it.
      Since they can tell how many gallons are missing from the previous customer, they should deduct the additional gallons added by the next customer!

      Nice cars but watch their policy on how to return their cars and the fuel service options especially at airports when you take shuttles to pick them up and are dropping the car off at airport parking lots full and never seeing an attendant to show receipts of proof when you put the gas in tanks . They will bill you for it anyways . They don’t bother to look at the gas gage, they need to see your receipt as proof .. just make sure you read the paper work you sign .
      These are the 3 options : 1. Accept the Fuel Service Option, pay in advance for a full tank of fuel, and bring the rental car back empty; 2.
      Don't accept the Fuel Service Option, bring the rental car back full, provide a receipt for your gas purchase, and avoid any refueling service charge;
      or 3. Don't choose the Fuel Service Option, bring the car back less than full, and pay a fuel service charge.
      Shame on you Avis for not trusting your customers and turning on the car and looking at the gas gage .

      Our Avis rental car was making scraping noises when driving and squeeling noise when braking. We did not feel it was safe to drive the car half hour to the nearest Avis location, and it's nearly impossible to get a live person to tell us what to do. When we finally got a live agent, they told us to use roadside assistance. Again, no live person so after requesting service via voice prompts, it took over an hour to hear back. This has been the most frustrating travel situation I have ever experienced.
