      This a BIG SCAM company.
      On December 27 we have made a reservation at Mooresville, NC location and when we came there they said they have no cars available so modified our reservation to Charlotte, NC in their computer system and messed up with a drop off location (intentionally I guess). So finally for one day car rental they charged us $827!!! The pick location phone is always down and We tried calling 800 number but a rude customer service kept transferring our call several times until disconnected. They just manipulate a scam in their system which is out of customers control and then charge a crazy price!!! And I see from other complaints that we are not the only people they robbed on Christmas time. I personally got a high blood pressure dealing with that situation and I Can’t believe they are still in the business!!! 827$ for one day rent and they think this money will bring them a blessing on a holiday season!!! Karma is gonna reach you guys!!!

      Rented a Chrysler Pacifica hybrid from Chicago Ohare for 4 days with a drop off in Savannah, GA to drive home after celebrating the holidays with family. On the drive home in the middle of a mountainous highway, the car completely shut down. A warning light with a red turtle popped up and said the car was going to stop., and it did. After sitting on a very small shoulder trying to find an answer in the owners manual, we came up with nothing. Started the car and it turned on, but check engine light still on. Pulled over at very next exit and called Avis. Very dangerous situation for myself, my husband and my 2 children in the car. Avis is refusing to help. The car is obviously undrivable as having a car break down in the middle of the highway is too dangerous to risk again. They say they are making us pay for towing cost and mechanical cost, even though we have done nothing wrong. Extremely disappointing and just wrong.

      Hi all - just called to inquire about real cost rent a car - as found them on priceline AVIS on liberty ave (for month or two long rental) - no explanation, no nothing, just hung up on me.... called back to confirm that we weren't just disconnected - and was told, nope I hung up on you, and he did it again. WOW - I wouldn't recommend any rental from them!

      We booked a standard SUV. The only SUV they had was a Ford Flex. A crossover is not an SUV. We were told we could get a mini van, it was the only other option. After getting the car, we realized it was a hybrid Chrysler Pacifica.
      The trip north was ok. The trip back was full of issues. On the way up, we didnt use the air. On the trip back, we turned on the air. It didnt work. It blew regular air, not cool air. We had to crack the windows to be comfortable. Windows down on the freeway isnt great. After we made a stop, the car wouldnt connect to my phone & saying "Bluetooth disabled" on the screen. We had to stop, turn the car off, & turn it on, to get it to work. 40-50 miles from Bakersfield the check engine light came on with a message to pull over safely & the car was going to shut off. We were in the middle of nowhere, no exit for 10+ miles, gas pedal not working, slowing in the middle of 70mph traffic, trying to get around a line of semis so we could get to the shoulder.
      When we made it to the shoulder we tried to figure out what was wrong w/the car. We got on the phone w/roadside assistance, after a 20min hold. The agent told us the closest Avis to get another car was Ontario, 4 hours away. We asked how we were supposed to get there? If we got there we wouldnt need a replacement bc we were going to Onatrio. She didnt have any answers for us. We asked to speak to someone else. All in all after 4 hours, getting the car to start w/6% battery, a scary 50 minute drive to Bakersfield we werent sure if we were going to break down again & a 90 minute lyft ride we were taken 112 miles to Burbank to get a replacement car so we could drive another hour home. It was a disaster.
      There is a recall on the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid for this kind of issue & Avis rented us the car, putting us in harms way, not giving us any options until we pushed back several times. Avis is HORRIBLE.
      We got no refund & were told we'd have to contact customer service to talk to someone.

      Absolutely disgusted with this rental car company. Rented a car while on soccer tournament for my son while in Orlando. Returned car on 12/4/23. Received a letter in the mail today,12/28, stating that I was going to be charged $450.00 for a cleaning fee due to the presence of "smoke odor." Neither me or my kid smoke. I called to dispute the charge and the said the best they could do was 25% off. After telling them I'm not paying for something I didn't do wrong they then said they could waive 50% of the charge. They kept saying "the mileage matches" whatever that means?? I asked for what proof they have of smoke odor and the only thing I got back was "the mileage matches." I again said I'm not paying anything and asked to speak with a manager. I was then told I would be placed in a que and a manger would call me back in 24-48 hours. We will see if that really happens. I have my doubts. I absolutely refuse to pay for something that I didn't do. I have since disputed the charges with my credit card and will get a hold of Costco travel, who we booked through, to hopefully get this resolved. I rent many vehicles for different soccer tournaments my kids play in around the country and will never use Avis again. Absolutely disgusted by all of this. I will be back in Orlando in January and will make sure none of our teams use them as a rental company. Stay away from Avis if you don't want unwanted charges.

      I had the inconvenience of renting with Avis in September of this year at the Sarasota Florida location. We rented a black Acura and were told that it was the only one available due to our price range and timing. When we initially got the vehicle there were scratches and small dents through the vehicle, stains throughout the interior, and worn tires with cracks in the rubber. When I informed the agent of this, they claimed there was nothing they could do for the dirty interior due to no other cars being available at that time. As for the scratches and worn tires, we were told they can be “up to x size” without having to pay for them and the tires were already noted as “damaged” or “needing to be replaced”.
      When we returned the vehicle, we showed them the video of the interior and exterior prior to our departure from a few days before to show the damaged tires, exterior, and disgusting interior weren’t from us. *I think it’s important to note that when we told them the windshield wipers were bad and we had to pull over when it rained due to lack of visibility, the agent shrugged it off and said “they’d get to it”. Our rental was on 9/6/23 and on 12/13/23 we received a letter stating that we were responsible for new tires and charged over $200 AFTER already speaking with multiple agents about the condition of the vehicle! We are very displeased as we use Avis 99/100 times when we travel since they usually have such great service. This was a very unpleasant experience and we advise anyone to stay away from them. Absolute nightmare of a company.

      I booked a reservation 2 months ago at Springfield-Branson Airport, for a premium 15 passenger van. Because I know they usually run out.
      Yesterday, I get an e-mail from the manager at Springfield-Branson. According to him, due to a Ford recall our van was not going to be available.
      [ I researched this recall and the recall was issued voluntarily on June 2023(7 months ago)]
      I made our reservation November 7th (almost 2 months ago) to have a 15 passenger van available to go sight seeing with our family. Now we have no van.
      I spent all day calling other car rental companies and no vans were available because it is 2 days in advance.
      We contacted Avis Customer Service department and were not able to talk to a manager. They offered to placed me in que for a return call in 24-48 hours but the lead agent advise us that they could not help me in any way because that facility was franchised.
      The manager at Springfield-Airport advise us to get the van elsewhere or to split our family in 2 cars, a mini van and an SUV. ( without knowing if a second driver will be available and all the extra gasoline,tolls and paking expenses for the second car will be on us)
      The manager refused to give us $120 worth of gas for our inconvenience and told us that every other company will just cancel us. Is that right? THEN WHY DO YOU MAKE A RESERVATION?
      Now we have to split our family and spend more money because we are going on 2 cars.
      I TRUSTED AVIS TO BE A RELIABLE SECURE RENTAL COMPANY AND THEY ARE NOT.
      Avis should not let franchisees like this use their name.

      We regret not being able to locate a vehicle for you. We forecast vehicle availability based on how vehicles are scheduled to return. There are several circumstances that could cause inventory issues such as vehicles being extended, not returned on time or as agreed, returned to a different location, breakdowns or recalls. We do our best to accommodate every rental but sometimes if vehicles aren't returned when they are scheduled, it causes us to be short on vehicles. I completely understand how frustrating and inconvenient this situation has been for you.

      I prepaid for a long range Tesla on November 7th for our trip on December 16th. When I arrived at my destination I was told the reservation "Didn't go through", however, I have a charge from Avis on my account on November 7th. I ended up having to pay again (even more money than previously, and the car was not long range as requested). I have had email correspondence with their customer service, sent my bank statement, and was told I would hear back within 7 business days. It is now December 28th and I have heard nothing from Avis. I hope they resolve this, because keeping the prepay charge that most definitely posted to my bank account is theft. I will never rent a car from them again, and wouldn't recommend anyone else does either. Never had these problems with Hertz or Enterprise.

      Horrible service 2 trips in a row avis did me in, trip 1 was phx over a 2 week period 5 different vehicles due to mechanical issues one resulting in near catastrophic failure ( lugnuts fell off realized what happened with 2 of 5 barely on). Trip 2 was Las Vegas to phx one way this oneledt me stranded in Vegas for 3 days then I ended up finally getting a uhaul that cost me 1800 for at 13 day period because in phx I was denied rental again due then rejecting every card I had resulting in me loosing a business contract being I was 2 days late to signing all in all I received $500 after a month of dealing with prissy representatives or being told I want allowed to speak with someone. In reality what was supposed to be a prosperous trip put me almost 3000 in the hole minus the job
