1 starSuch disappointing customer service. I was recently married and needed to update the name on my account in order to make a new reservation. I submitted the request online, was told the change could take up to 3 business days. 4 days later, my name was the same. I called customer service, was transferred to 7 different agents. The only suggestion was to email a different customer service mailbox, which would take another 3 days. The email address given was invalid so I tried the generic customer service mailbox. It’s now been 10 days, my name has still not updated and I’ve heard nothing from Avis. Needless to say, I will not be using Avis again. This would have been a 2 week reservation, instead I went to a different company.Avis Rent A Car

1 staravis rental tampa bay airport
booked a reservation 2 months prior to arrival. upon arrival they gave my reservation to someone else and had nothing to rent to me. given i have a young child and wife that were tired since it was 11 pm. one of their customer service reps showed complete disrespect to a paying client by making uncaring remarks and telling the rep helping me good luck having him speak to a manager while laughing. my wife at that time as i was walking to where i could speak with a manager since they said non will come up to help resolve the situation continued to make remarks to my wife who at that point had enough of the rudeness that was bestowed upon us. after waiting an hour and speaking with someone who claims to be a “manager” they miraculously found the car that i had reserved or something within the same class.
i decided to go get my bags to bring downstairs to the rental car but decided to let the lady who was rude how poorly she had acted where she continued with her nonesense power struggle. things got heated where another employee tried to intervene and during that put his hands on my wife, which i shall file a police complaint. This obnoxious lady called downstairs and told them to not give us the car they already gave us. leaving a 5 year old child and my family stranded at 12:30 am. i will contact avis corporate to file this complaint as well as an assault charge on their employee. though neither will get anywhere but it will be recorded and my voice can be heard for future clients to stay clear of here.
it’s a poor customer service at this location that has zero compassion for their clients. i guess it all falls from the top with training and bothering the right personnel.
i would stay away from this place and use the other rental services offered at this airport which from last experience have been nothing but 5 star.Avis Rent A Car

1 starAvis rental is terrible!! I rented a car from the Avis at the airport in Phoenix on 12/6/2023.
The give me a car with 84,366 miles on it and two nearly bald tires on the front. I did not notice the condition of the tires as I picked the car up at night. I thought the roads seemed rough because I’m not from phoenix. The next evening I find a 6 to 7 inch split in the right front tire and this is when I noticed the were pretty much tread bare. Their roadside assistance is useless and could not be reached. Once I returned from my trip I called customer service and complained, they issued a credit for 100.00 dollars only the charge me 200.00 two weeks later for the damaged tire. The condition of the tire is what resulted in the split in the tire and they are blaming me for the damage. NEVER WILL I RENT FROM AVIS AGAIN!!!!!!Avis Rent A Car

When a rental does not include Loss Damage Waiver coverage, repair and restoration expenses are automatically billed to the rental that the damage was discovered from. However, we do confirm that you did report the pre-existing damage and the repair charges have been submitted for full refund.

1 starI'd give them negative stars if I could. I arrived last Friday night (12/15) in the Louisville, KY airport (SDF) and was offered 3 different pickup trucks. I told the customer service I didn't rent a pickup truck she said since you are picking up in Louisville and dropping off at a different location (Nashville, TN airport) this is what you get.
The truck was filthy dirty and had 3/4 tank of gas. Not giving a customer any choice builds ZERO return business. This is my first and last rental with Avis. I was attending a funeral and my 92 year old Mom couldn't even get into this truck. I had it 5 days and she had to ride with someone else. Never again AVIS! Go to National instead. They treat customers like customers.

1 starI was told by someone at one of the budget locations to contact customer service in regards to my account. $341.99 was taken out of my account. I still have the vehicle so I was totally okay with it. Then, four days later, a $60.00 charge was taken from my account. I contacted customer service on December 26, 2023 at 7:59pm to discuss the charges. No matter when I call, I’m ALWAYS polite and kind. The customer service rep was extremely rude. He stated I needed to speak to lost prevention after he wasted a bunch of my time. I would ask him for the number and he would read and in the middle of giving me the phone number, he would cut in and make smart comments. I would read back what I did have and he would cut me off and say something smart. I’m really sick and tired of these nasty foreigners who are lazy and hate their jobs so they bring nothing but disrespect. I finally hung up on him because I couldn’t take it. After I return my vehicle, I will never use this company again. I have spent over $1500 of my money and didn’t deserve the mistreatment I got. One bad customer service rep will ruin my entire experience if I don’t get the respect I deserve. I will return the vehicle soon, and then I will never be back.Avis Rent A Car

In review of your case, we confirmed that your reservation 42148067US3 was booked for use from November 18th through November 24th. Your rental U697805371 was checked out on November 18th and has since been approved for three extensions and was due to return December 18th.
However, as of December 28th, the vehicle is still in your use and is considered overdue for return. Please be advised that in addition to the daily charges, the rental will be assessed a daily late fee and may be subject to recovery expenses and these will be submitted to your card provider as pending transactions until the vehicle is recovered by Budget and the contract is closed for billing.
We apologize that there was not a more favorable outcome and must advise that the vehicle be returned immediately.

1 starThis is to prevent all the people who plan a vacation with Avis not to doit. I booked a reservation almost 6 months ago call them a month ago to confirm I was going to pick the van up the 26th of December and I got a call December the 23rd saying sorry we don’t have a van for you the only option was to get 2 cars instead of one and pay the difference. I call custom service they told me I could get the same van at another location for twice te money not to mention that this is the second time that happened to me, they will not honor your reservation creating a disaster with your travel plans..Avis Rent A Car

We regret not being able to locate a vehicle for you. The closer we get to the holidays, the more demand we will have for increased travel. We forecast vehicle availability based on how vehicles are scheduled to return. Several circumstances could cause inventory issues such as vehicles being extended, not returned on time or as agreed, returned to a different location, or breakdowns. We do our best to accommodate every rental but sometimes if vehicles aren't returned when they are scheduled, it causes us to be short on vehicles.

1 starI have been overcharged and charged fees that were not explained. The tall African American guy at the Lagrange location screwed up my reservation/extensions multiple times causing me late fees. Which also caused him calling me early in the morning on several occasions to extend when the vehicle should not have been due back if he would have made the reservation right the first time. For ex I called to extend for another week for day prior to the car being due back which would have been from Wednesday to Wednesday, however, since you called on Tues, he closed it out over the phone and then did a reservation from Tues to Tuesday, I didn't learn about this until he called asking me if I was going to return or extend again the following Tuesday. We had words and they mgr said he wouldn't rent to me anymore. To avoid the drama I returned the vehicle to the Newnan location. Before I left I made sure everything was good with the vehicle and I got the name of the rep who is Charles, I learned later he was the manager. I asked him several times to make sure the car was good before I left but he was to lazy to even go verify the mileage, the place was empty. He told me repeatedly I'm good. When I called 12/21/23 to pay my credit card bill I learned that they overcharged my card my $330.xx for a cleaning fee when I had the car detailed prior to dropping it. When I called to speak with Charles he said he was going to assist me because of the words the rep at Lagrange location and I shared. I feel the the charges are in retaliation and Charles and the Lagrange staff handle this matter unprofessionally. If there was a concern Charles should have done his due diligence/job and verified everything before I left. But for him to charge me fees and wouldn't explain because he had issue with a conversation that I had with a person at another location is unacceptable. We do confirm that your rental was originally generated for use from the LaGrange (L02) November 21st to November 28th at the same location and you were approved for extended use through December 5th. Your rental was returned on December 6th to Newnan Downtown (NE3) and the round-trip rate was no longer applicable and this resulted in a one-way rate being applied for your actual use.
Regarding the cleaning fees, if a car is returned to us with trash, pet hair, odors, and any other soilage that a customer leaves behind, a location will bill up to $450.00 to clean the car so that it can be rented again. In review of photos provided by the location, the cleaning charges issued are consistent with the condition of the vehicle and we would have no further adjustments to issue.

1 starI give Avis a zero because after I had rented the suv over a month, the car wasn’t available. They wanted two forms of ID. I only had one. And they ran my license, and they told me there was a restriction in it. I asked them what the **** is that. And because of that ********. I went home without the car. I went to Alamo. 1 starI've reserved my car via Expedia with total of $130 Canadian Nov 17 and returned on Nov 20 th. Rental office is at Avis Frankfurt airport. When I returned attendant told me that it's ok I could leave and they would send me the receipt. I didn't receive the receipt even though I I returned back to the office and asked for it.
After returning Canada, I sent an email for the receipt. No response. I downloaded receipt to see misc charges and on total $872.93 for the booking. I've raised an incident with Expedia and later with Avis customer service. I've reached out to the rental location too. Rental location sent me an email on Dec 1st stating there were damages and I should receive full documentation in a few days. There were no damages when I returned the car. I didn't receive any documents as of Dec 22nd. I tried to to resolve my issue with Avis customer service and raised an incident. They told me to wait 15 days. I haven't heard from them either. I called back they said until this office picks up the case, 15 days waiting period doesn't start. That was confusing. I asked whether this is an open ended waiting period and the response was yes. There is nothing they could do.
So I was asked to wait indefinitely, when I was charged outrageously for nonexistent damages and with nonexistent documents.Avis Rent A Car

1 starReceived Avis response via an unnamed Coordinator. The original $438 over the phone quote now appears useless or even fraudulent compared to the 150% mark up, quick decision to add a cleaning fee the minute the vehicle was returned and the overall way the customer of Avis is treated. They responded the vehicle could not be rented for near 2 weeks alledging high cleaning need or their incompetence to run a vacuum for 10 minutes as the van was that clean already. I was able to reduce my cost, take my case to BBB for which Avis is not a registered member and to social media to warn others if Avis deceptive practices. Even during my dispute, the bank acknowledged this is not the first time customers have complained. I will never use Avis again. Hopefully they will repent and re-evaluate their practices. Even tho we went over the entire vehicle to note any dents scratches, the lady at the exit gate when told she would record all our findings said "oh God, I haven't done that for at least 2 years (jfk airport).
