      On January 5 I rented a vehicle through Avis for Uber driving. The car broke down and it was three days before they could replace the car. It was towed on a Sunday to a local office. I eventually got another rental three days later. I received a bill claiming I owe them 679.40 towing. That isn't good business. I had to dispute the charge but they still wanted to charge me. I have a letter now claiming I did damage to the car but I will not be charged. I lost three days of work from this but they did not offer reimbursement. They charged me for the others. This is bad business.

      On 11/22/2023 I rented a car through Avis the rental agreement stated $390 for seven days. Being the car was electric I had several maintenance issues, failure to hold charge etc; I called the location several times to no avail. The car had to be towed I contacted roadside assistance on the rental agreement. The company dispatched stated they've towed several electric cars from Avis, the car was towed to East Point Headquarters for Maintenance Facility for Avis. I was given confirmation number etc. Avis employee decided to text and harass me when I stated my preference of communication. Employee also my card will be charged until the car is back on Avis Lot Courtland Street.
      Well to my surprise I was charged $1720 for the car, I , filed a dispute through my bank . The bank contacted Avis and Avis stated the amount was indeed correct. I provided a copy of the rental agreement.
      Avis is a rip off, they over charge customers. The customer service is non existent , when contacting cooperate the complaints are null and void.

      DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS!!! I am in the middle of dealing with the absolute worst customer of my entire life! I got in contact with customer support 2 months ago to rectify them over charging me more than $500 for a rental. I called in to make a reservation with an Avis employee, but they chose the wrong days. When I went to pick up my reservation there obviously wasn't one. So instead of correcting the mistake he made, he told me I would need to pay $75 to cancel the old reservation and to make a new reservation. Well that reservation was more than two times the original price I was giving when I made my initial reservation. I contacted customer support 2 months ago and they have been throwing me throw the ringer, not trying to pay me what I am owed. So disappointed in this company. I will never rent from them again, and will make sure everyone I know does the same

      We have checked our records and show that the reservation was booked online as you stated the reservation was booked for the wrong date we did issue a full refund for the prepaid amount. As the reservation was not valid for the date of the actual rental and no other reservation was in place the rental counter offered you a walk-up rate. We do apologize but rates vary from rental to rental as many factors including the rental dates after the cost. Due to this we are not able to honor a rate booked for a different rental time period.

      We had an issue in Oct 2023 with an charge, I thought this was resolved as we have an email from customer service in Oct 2023 when I reached out saying as a courtesy they will adjust the $279.92 in dispute. Three months later, Jan 2024, I receive a letter that our account is in bad standing for this amount and that we need to pay. I reach out and showed proof that this was waived. The collection team of Avis told me to call customer service as they can on see this and we need to work with customer service to fix the issue. What issue, I'm told my customer service there is no issue. Even in Jan 2024 when I called. Not sure what I am supposed to do and getting no resolution. I will avoid this company, and suggest others do as well!!! Why can't the collection side of Avis speak with the customer service side and resolve this? Customer service tells me there is no balance and all is fine.

      While we understand that your card provider may decide to revoke payment for charges from your rental, this does not negate the validity of a rental contract and Avis will consider a chargeback as a delinquency. Failure to reconcile a delinquency can result in collections being issued as well as restriction from future rentals. Unfortunately, our **************** team is not able to assist with clearing balances for debt reconciliation and you will need to reach out to our Collections team more directly for further assistance. 

      We apologize that there was not a more favorable outcome.

      Worse customer service in the industry! How do you cancel a reservation on the day of the reservation??? They call me at 0757 (reserved pick up for 0900) and tell me they don't have any vehicles for me to pick up....not even a downgrade. This is the second time and definitely the last time I go with them. Guess I get better service around "better" areas

      Our apologies for not having your reserved vehicle available. We forecast vehicle availability based on how vehicles are scheduled to return. Several circumstances could cause inventory issues such as vehicles being extended, not returned on time or as agreed, returned to a different location, or breakdowns. We do our best to accommodate every rental but sometimes if vehicles aren't returned when they are scheduled, it causes us to be short on vehicles. We completely understand how frustrating and inconvenient this situation has been for you.

      I was wrongfully charged nearly 4x over my rental quote and given a corporate "we apologize" with no resolution or refund. The car was dirty, had half a tank of fuel, and I was throw into phone loops to ultimately be told to kick rocks. Single handedly the worst company I've ever had to deal with.

      I prepaid for my rental and returned the rental car full of gas 3-4 hours early. When I returned the car I was told to keep it running. Now I am being charged extra for the car not being returned full of fuel.
      It is unethical business practice and is a scam. Would not recommend Avis at any location.

      Our records indicate an after check-in fuel audit was performed and the vehicle was showing returned with 1.1 gallons under a full tank.  A fuel service fee of $9.99 per gallon was applied in accordance with the notification on your signed rental agreement. 
       
      As noted in the terms provided on the rental document jacket at time of your rental/your Master Rental Agreement The charges shown on the return record are not final and subject to recalculation. You'll pay any undercharges and you'll receive a refund for any overcharges we discover on review. To clarify, a refueling receipt is required at the time of return to uphold that the car was indeed returned with a full tank of gas. The receipt must show a fuel purchase, number of gallons, as well of the cost. 

      Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

      Unpleasant Experience at Avis Rent-A-Car Downtown
      Dear Avis Team,
      I hope this message finds you well. I recently had my first rental experience at your downtown location, and unfortunately, it did not meet the standards I've come to expect from Avis. I am a frequent renter from the Atlanta airport, where I've always had positive interactions with your staff.
      During my recent rental downtown, I encountered a notable lack of professionalism and communication. There was an issue with the system not being updated on their end, which led to confusion and inconvenience. Moreover, I reported a noticeable smell in the car to a staff member, but regrettably, this concern was not documented.
      In addition to these issues, I observed that the cars being given out seemed to require service, such as an oil change and other maintenance. This raised concerns about the overall condition and safety of the vehicles provided.
      I value transparency and effective communication, qualities that were lacking in this particular experience. Due to these multiple concerns, I am compelled to share that I will not be returning to the downtown location for future rentals. I will continue to choose the Atlanta airport, where I have consistently received excellent service in the past.
      I trust that you will address these concerns and appreciate your attention to improving the service quality, maintenance, and safety standards at the downtown location.

      Two weeks after we returned the minivan we rented we received a letter in the mail stating that they were charging us an additional $250 detail cleaning fee. My kids are older, and we didn’t use the car often so I was baffled as to how we would be charged such a fee. When I called the number and asked for a photo there was a photo that was blurry of some sand/salt on the floor. We were walking around the city but at no point was there anything that could not be quickly cleaned up. The customer service representative agreed and did stop the charge. However, after looking this up, it seems as if this is a common business practice that they are doing, and just banking on the fact that people will not call to complain.
      Unrelated to the above, we did not have the best experience when we first arrived because we had reserved a minivan. We were informed that they didn’t have any minivan and would give us an SUV instead. We explained that we did not want an SUV and the SUV they offered us would not fit us and our luggage. After an hour of waiting they miraculously were able to find us a minivan. I will never rent from them again.

      If a car is returned to us with trash, dirt, spills and other soilage that a customer leaves behind, a location will bill up to $450.00 to clean the car so that it can be rented again. We understand you may not agree with this policy, but this is the expense associated with restoring the car after your use

      They are not straightforward about their pricing at all. I was charged almost 50% of what I already paid to reserve the vehicle after I returned it because of "gas and tolls". At no point was the pricing explained to me until I complained after I was charged the extra $150 and the customer service people were incredibly snarky about how I agreed to pay those fees when I signed to take the car. How can I agree to something that is not explained to me?
