      1 I reserved an economy car through ********* Airlines. 2. At the desk in ***, the agent did not provide me with a receipt or breakdown of costs when I first picked up the car. I was told an email receipt would come through but it did not. 2. The agent at the desk refused to go over the details with me, and appeared angry with me for asking. 3. I was in a rush to a funeral in ********* (rental) so I didnt have time to dispute.4. When I returned the vehicle the next day, my receipt was $233+. I was told if I wanted to dispute it I had to go to the counter. Of course, I was not wanting to miss my flight so I did not go to the desk.5. The receipt did not break down costs except taxes. Worst rental experience ever. This company should be shut down. They are scammers.

      We are sorry that the charges displayed on your finalized rental billing differed from what you were expecting. 

      Your rental with Avis commences at the time the contract is generated for your car rental. This usually coincides with the time that you pick up your car rental keys and depart the rental facility. The rental rates are based on a 24-hour day. However, at our locations in the U.S. and ******, customers are allowed a grace ****** of 29 minutes before any additional time and mileage charges are applied; no grace ****** applies for any optional coverage. 

      From review of your use, we did confirm recorded use for one day and two hours which was billed for additional time and this included daily charges for the rate, services, daily fees, and associated taxes.

      Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

      I have been an Avis customer for over ***** and I have never experienced such disrespect and so much run around. I called to make a reservation and was told i was on the dnr list and to call and email collections. After calling Avis multiple times ii was told it was from a rental back in apr2023, and because i wasnt informed of owing anything, i looked at my credit card april statement and sure enough my bank authorized the payments even the toll fees. I called collections 757 number and it gives you a prerecording and leave a message, which i did. I finally got Avis customer service to provide me who the collection agency this bill was with and they said viking collections. I contacted viking and provided documentation showing i didnt owe avis anything and was told to wait two weeks for a turnaround and there was nothing. I also sent an email to the do not rent list email and was told i would hear from someone with 7business days and its been a month. I needed a rental last minute and because ive only used avis i was trying to resolve the matter quickly. So after a month of doing everything and not seeing a change i called viking collections back and asked how can we resolve this issue and was told that even though im waiting for a response from avis regarding my documents, i could make the payment and that would remove me from the dnr system. So painfully i paid it and was told to wait a day and then call avis and check if im off the dnr b4 i rent. I did and they told me i was off and good to go. I booked a prepaid rental $1500 i get to the location and im told im actually still on the list. So with embarrassment i left and paid twice for the same bill and im still on the dnr list. And then was lied to again by customer service and told it was the location who put me on and the location said that was a lie I dont know when customer service became last on the list. But without us theres no AVIS. Im down $300, $1500 on hold pending refund and i need a resolution

      My mother and I rented a car to travel to a funeral in *********** and then the ******* area. Upon arrival at the rental counter, there were no issues. We easily checked in and proceeded to our car, which we quickly noticed was not as clean as it should be. There were crumbs in the seats, the middle console hadnt been wiped clean, the back seat looked dirty, there was marker writing on the back driver and back window from the most recent oil change, I found an empty glass probiotic drink bottle under the middle row (days after), along with other unsuitably clean issues. We went back to the counter to show pictures of the dirty car and they returned it downstairs to be cleaned again. We waited for about 15 mins, which was no biggie. BUT, after waiting, they still returned a half clean car. The writing on the back driver window was wiped off but the writing on the back window was still there in addition to it appearing to be barely wiped. The glass probiotic bottle wasnt found until days later due to it being under the seat, solidifying the fact that they didnt clean the car thoroughly the second time either. We didnt inspect every inch of the car the second time they cleaned it, but as the days passed, we noticed other problem areas that they failed to clean. Overall, the car itself functioned properly and their customer service was satisfactory but the car was not up to standards as far as cleanliness for the next driver

      Professional thieves. Rented a car from avis in *********. All seemed well until we got home. Received a bill for $450 due to smoke odor in the car. Only problem is neither my wife or I smoke! And this being in a town where the entire town reeks of pot. Called customer service and complained. Did refund my money back. But makes me wonder how many other people they try and rip off with this scheme. Would not recommend avis to anyone for a car rental again.

      We have an American Airlines Executive credit card. One of the perks of the card is extra, bonus frequent flyer miles if we reserve a rental car through aa.com/cars. If we rent a car thru this site, we are supposed to get 10x the miles of how much we paid for the rental. ****** gave me 869 miles for the purchase but REFUSES to give me the additional ***** BONUS miles. We rented this car back in October & began actively communicating with ****** in early December, requesting these miles. ****** has done nothing but put me off. I receive emails saying they are working on a resolution. Then I receive one saying I am not eligible for the miles. I have the proof that I rented this car, and RENTED it through aa.com/cars.BUDGET (Avis/******) has TERRIBLE customer service!

      I booked through 3rd party and was told several charges would be included and they still charged and wouldn't take off though I had proof. Also, they charged me for gas when I returned it with more than I picked it up. It was horrible trying to get someone to respond to me and when they did, they were not helpful!

      I borrowed a car for 4 days, turned it in an hour early with more gas than I got it with. It was dirty when I got it, but I didn't complain. When I returned it, they email the receipt and I noticed they charged me an additional day. I started a ticket to request a refund and, after review (and requesting many documents they could surely find in their own database), they told me that it wasn't actually an extra day, but that I had upgraded. No one asked if I wanted an upgrade or told me that I was getting an upgrade, but apparently I signed off on it when I signed all the paperwork. They refuse to refund the money because I signed the agreement, not knowing I had upgraded, before I laid eyes on the car.This is deceitful practice and then bad customer service when the problem is pointed out. I will never use them again.

      Charges are based on the rental parameters provided in the reservation or based on any changes made at the rental counter at the time of pick up. Approval was made for an upgrade from the Full  Size Sedan that was reserved to the Intermediate SUV that was rented and the upgrade charges were present on the rental agreement.

      I was just randomly billed 450 by Avis. When I called I was informed it was for excessive interior dirt-sand.
      I'm not denying there was sand in the car, Avis also provided pictures of it. 450 for sand that can be vaccumned easily is obsurd.
      I read the policy and it says I can be charged a reasonable amount. This isn't reasonable at all. I don't mind paying a reasonable fee. But 450 is scammy.

      We rented an SUV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in October 2023. We returned the vehicle clean, full of gas, and in good shape. A month later we received a letter stating they were charging for a hole in the tire. They charged our credit card for $79.93. We filed a complaint with American Express first, but they were useless. We filed a complaint through Costco Travel. Avis responded quickly to Costco Travel and said they would refund our money. They did not. For the next two months I have tried to verify the refund with calls and emails. Again, we tried to verify it through American Express. This time Avis came back and said we signed up for Roadside Assistance, and that was what the charge was. So I am warning others about renting with Avis. We have used them for years, but will not use them again.

      AVIS rented me a car with frozen antifreeze, putting my life and safety at risk to save costs. They then attempted to charge me for a full gallon of gas when I filled the car up < .25 mile away from where I returned the car. There are many accounts of this on the internet and each one says they were able to call and get charges removed. The friction of calling to get a nonsense charge drop tells me they know their business is a scam and probably rob a lot of people.
