1 starI have been a Preffered Client with Avis and traveled internationally for over 25 years. No longer. Their customer service and misleading representations at the counters have just become horrible. I just had another terrible experience with them on a trip to **********. I seldom leave reviews and let people develop their own opinions because we all have different standards. However, strongly consider the entirety of the reviews on Avis. Look elsewhere for your car rental even if it cost a little more because if you have an issue with an Avis rental, its going to cost you a lot lot more in the end.Avis Rent A Car

1 starThe WORST rental company ever!! I was forced to rent from them due to not having my major credit card on me to be able to my enterprise rental. First I was charged a lot $600 to be able to rent it but I had to get my kids and myself home. The vehicle was definitely not cleaned before hand. I was taking to another airport Avis which I was forced to do as well. I was trying to return it in the same day. Would of been from 3 am to around 8 pm. The car started having mechanical issues before I could get it where it needed to go. I called the ***** for Avis. They contacted roadside assistance. It took over 12 hrs for roadside assistance to come. Then I get the receipt for what should have just been the initial amount but Avis is saying the didn't get the car back for 3 days. The towing company is giving me a print out showing that they dropped it off 2 days prior. So they are charging me $1750 now.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./**************,
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
We do confirm that your rental was checked out from *******, ** and was to be returned to *********, ** the same day. The vehicle was driven to ******** and a tow was requested. As the vehicle was outside of our service area, the tow was delayed until March 19th when it was checked in at *******, ** as our closest location. The rental was billed for the time that the vehicle was checked out until it was physically recovered.
We do confirm that our **************** team has previously issued an adjustment of $189.60 to reduce the coverage costs and we have applied an additional adjustment to apply a lower rate for the recorded use in the amount of $423.41. Please allow 3-5 days for this to reflect on your balance. A copy of the corrected receipt has been issued for your records and should be received within the business day. You can also recover the most current receipt information on Avis.com under the Reservations menu by entering your last name and rental agreement number.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.
Sincerely,

1 starVery bad experience. I am the renter, **************** The rental reservation agreement number is: 37902874US2. The rental location was **********************. Date of rental March *****, 2024.I was overbilled for my rental car. I reserved a car rental through ****** travel for the agreed upon rate of $401.42. I returned the car full of gas (stopped 1/2 a mile from airport rental car return - even said to the guy checking in the car "all full of gas"). I filled up at the ******* ******* and spent $43.97. About 15 minutes later while in airport I got a e receipt for $749.07. Imagine my shock that I was being overbilled by such a large amount. I immediately called AVIS and was informed b/c I did not return the car full of gas (which is inaccurate) that not only was I being charged the fee for a tank of gas (impossible that they filled it since I just had done so) but that the rate that had been agreed upon was void and they were charging me a new daily rate. I then spent a lot of time filling out reports and sending receipts to be told the charge for gas would be refunded however the new rate was not changed, so I am still overpaying by several hundred dollars from the reservation agreement. The I inquire into that to be told it's because the times I actually rented are different that when the car was actually rented. (Which is a completely different reason for rate change than the original reason given to me). I did get the car late bc our flight into salt lake had a 5 hour delay and the I waited in line for an hour to get to an AVis agent. So having the car less time than the reservation means I'm paying more? The time and frustration spent on this is shameful. Do better.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI rented a vehicle from the ******************** Avis and when I returned it they fraudulently indicated I returned the vehicle 11 gallons low and charged my credit card for over $100 in a refueling fee. I tried to go through their customer service with a complaint and proof I refueled the vehicle. I requested a resolution or explanation, but never got a reply.. Avoid Avis, especially at the ********************.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI tried booking a car, I clicked pay now to pay about 700 for a rental. When I was charged the priced had almost doubled to 1300 dollars. I called immediately to reverse the transaction. After 15 minutes on the phone with the customer service rep they refused to refund my money without taking a 50 dollar cancellation fee. I refuse to accept any company should be allowed to operate such a misleading and deceiving website and collect a 50 dollar collection fee even within 2 minutes of the transaction having taken place. Credit card fraud has taken place here. I will do my best to make sure no one in my circle deals with this company. Gain my 50 dollars, lose a lifetime of business from myself, friends, and family.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./****************,
In regards to the aforementioned BBB complaint, thank you for giving us the opportunity to address your concerns.
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
We have checked our records and show that the amount of $679.79 was for the vehicle itself but as the vehicle was going one way the one way fee and taxes brought the total cost to $1287.15. Please note that we do have the running total which includes the one way fee and taxes in the upper right corner of the screen during the booking process so it is available before you select to prepay for the rental. However, as a gesture of **************** we have submitted for the cancelation fee to be refunded. Please allow up to 15 business days for this refund to post.
Thank you for allowing us to assist you.

1 starAvis can't get their act together. I reserved a car and they didn't have one available. Had to go to the airport to puck one up. Drop-off was also an issue. The Drop-off location was also closed at 1pm and did not have a night drop box. Again had to go to airport. Never again!Avis Rent A Car

1 starI booked a reservation on my app which Ive done before. It said I was logged in and confirmed my wizard number etc. After booking, the reservation wouldnt show up in my app so I tried adding it on the backend. It said it had added but still never showed up.l and didnt show my wizard number. So I gave it time incase it didnt happen straight away, but still never showed up. I tried calling and the first girl said she couldnt do anything and transferred me but I was hung up on.I called back and a new girl said she was going to calculate the price difference from adding my loyalty number. I questioned this and still dont understand what she was trying to say but she was sassy about it. Why would there be a price difference? Then she puts me on hold and comes back and says she is sorry but she cant do it and I should call back closer to the rental and maybe they can do it then. I questioned this and she tried giving me some other reason. I am a *************** member so I confirmed that if I cant get the number entered, would I not be able to utilize the benefits. Then she said ohhh youre a ***************, lemme put you in hold and see what I can do.I get transferred to a new person who is also sassy. She tells me she can do it. Oh but wait, the card I used is different to the card saved to my profile(false) so she cant. I asked what she can do and she said nothing. I asked if we could cancel and rebook using the number. She said oh yes we can. But wait, now she says I have to pay $200 to do that. I truly havent come across sassier customer service staff but also just dont understand why my number cant be added and why it costs me to add it.If they could give me a good reason then Id be less annoyed but it makes no sense. Im flying in with 3 kids and was hoping to utilize the perk of a seamless check in without waiting in lines after a long day of traveling.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI prepaid for a car rental and received multiple confirmations and also completed the self check option to save time. I showed up on time at the *************** location to pick up my rental at the Avis desk and waited 20 minutes to get service. I was the only person there. Finally an Avis sales associate showed up. I told the young gentleman I had a reservation and he replied that there was no reservation in the system and even worse, there were no cars available. He was extremely rude and offered no help. Why even make a reservation and confirm it multiple times? This is extremely bad business and I found Avis took no accountability from the associate straight to the customer service representative I spoke too. My experience was truly unacceptable and I will never use Avis again nor recommend them.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./******************,
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for not being able to locate a vehicle for you at your arrival time.
We forecast vehicle availability based on how vehicles are scheduled to return. Several circumstances could cause inventory issues such as vehicles being extended, not returned on time or as agreed, returned to a different location, or breakdowns. We do our best to accommodate every rental but sometimes if vehicles aren't returned when they are scheduled, it causes us to be short on vehicles. I completely understand how frustrating and inconvenient this situation has been for you.
Of your three reservations booked to pick up on March 13th, we do confirm that two were prepaid in the amounts of $150.59 and $190.55 and these prepayments have been refunded successfully in full.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

1 starWas charged over $200 in ******** fees, paid over $300 for insurance all in addition to the rental fee. The sales tactics were deceptive putting guilt and worry on someone in desperite need of a vacation. After waiting in a long slow line, extra slow due to a group pie break, I finally got to the counter. The salesperson wanted to charge me over $1,500 for extras that were completely excessive like $90 for tolls for 6 days, $300 for insurance, gps, stereo the list goes on and on and on. I said I didn't want anything extra. The sales lady said if I fill it with gas and leave the receipt in the vehicle, I won't get charged for fuel. Wrong, even though the *** has already caught Budget with this deceptive fuel practice, they are still charging for fuel when returned with a full tank. I called and they required a picture of the receipt and said they would waive it. I shouldn't have to call to tell you to waive a fee that shouldn't have been charged in the first place. This place is a scam and should NOT be in business.Avis Rent A Car

In regards to the aforementioned BBB complaint, thank you for giving us the opportunity to address your concerns.
Budget values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
We have checked our records and show the following charges were listed on your rental:
Gas Service Option (GSO) $77.23
Loss Damage Wavier (LDW) $32.99/day = $230.93
Supplemental ******************* (SLI) $16.50/day = $115.50
Additionally, we have reviewed the fuel receipt provided but as it shows that you bought fuel 3/6 at 1527 and did not return until 3/7 at 0712 we are not able to use this receipt as proof that the vehicle was returned full. If you refueled on your way to return the rental please provide that receipt for our review.
