1 starIf i could give them a negative number i would definitely would. Dont trust them for nothing. They offer you extras and charge you the double of what they really are telling you. They give you the wrong information and are careless. The only time they will help is when they see you are mad already and dont even want their business anymore.Avis Rent A Car

From review of your rental history, we did confirm that you reserved 6 days of use with a Compact Sedan. The rental had use of an upgrade to a Full Size Sedan with an upgrade fee of $3.00 per day and the added charge for prepaid fuel. Based on the services provided, we do find that your charges were billed correctly for your use.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

1 starI rented a car in ***************. I called a day early in order to pick up the car a couple of hours early. I waited almost 40 minutes to get the car after a frustrating wait. I was then informed when I returned the car that I was being charged a significant amount of money in excess of the contract amount. It was not only till I returned that it was explained why that was. I was charged a full day extra for the one hour extra I had the car. Despite many attempts to get an adequate explanation via email, I was left very frustrated. Some of the interaction gave me the impression that the command of the English language was missing or very week. I've rented cars multiple times and have always been satisfied.Avis Rent A Car

Your rental with Avis commences at the time the contract is generated for your car rental. This usually coincides with the time that you pick up your car rental keys and depart the rental facility. The rental rates are based on a 24-hour day. However, at our locations in the U.S. and ******, customers are allowed a grace ****** of 29 minutes before any additional time and mileage charges are applied. After 30 minutes, a charge of three-quarters of the daily rate plus $0.01 is applied. At 90 minutes, a full additional day is charged.
If a checkout time is earlier than the reserved time such as in the case from our review of your recent rental at the *********************** location, the early additional use will be billed just as it would be for a late return.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

1 starEverything with our Avis experience was great including the ease with which we got the car from *************, the condition of the vehicle and then the ease with which we returned the vehicle. Everything was as promised and advertised! The only BIG issue that makes us rate them with 1 star is that they never CLEARLY communicated that the Sunpass (********* Toll System similar to EZ Pass in *************) will be billed at $12.99/day from an outside provider. Meaning that for the days we had the car parked in the garage we still had to pay the per day toll fee. When we reviewed the paperwork, signed at the time of renting the vehicle, we did indeed initial where it says that we will be responsible for tolls, but the person at the counter didn't explain that this will be a fixed daily charge and just pointed where we need to sign and STATED that we will be just responsible for the toll charges!?! That sounded fair and without further scrutiny we trusted him and just signed as we weee tired from the long experience. We thought that this is a non-negotiable contract where we thought we had to sign (and still are not sure if we were supposed to sign or not) to get the ***** To make things worse, we do have an active Sun Pass account and really feel that we have been taken advantage of, because had we known that we can use our own Sun Pass and pay pennies to the dollar, we would've never agree to ise the flat, daily rate of Avis' provider. Very unfair and misleading, please be aware! Our contract number is seven 09none 680three3 and we rented an excellent ****** Rogue. The rental period was from 03/28 to 04/01.Avis Rent A Car

1 starThis was by far the WORST experience I've ever had and I've rented cars for over 30 years, some better than others. I've used AVIS exclusively for the past 10+ years.This nightmare started with the ************** AVIS shuttle leaving 30+ customers stranded on the sidewalk at the airport for over 20 minutes while the other rental shuttles came and went multiple times picking up its customers. Calling AVIS was useless as I was told "there's no way to contact shuttle drivers and no way to know where they are or will arrive". After questioning that customer service, I was told to call the ****** counter for additional info. The number I was given rang right back to the call center I just spoke to. Someone finally had to run across the drop off lanes to contact an AVIS shuttle driver who was dropping off.When we finally got picked up and taken to the AVIS lot, the app refused to let me skip the counter even though the rental was set up that way and I'm 'preferred'. The agent tried to give me a dirty, wrecked car first, but got another one since the keys were missing. He then demanded my credit card 'for a deposit' even though I'd paid in full in advance months earlier, and the card was already on file. After asking why I was being required to show my ID, yet again when trying to leave, I was told by the exit agents they "have to do that to make sure the rental agents get the right cars to the right people and don't s**** anything up".Two days after returning the car I'm charged over $800 in hacked/fraudulent transactions (including an additional $250 from AVIS for unexplained charges even though the receipt I received after turning the car in shows I OWE NOTHING EXTRA). AVIS is the only place that specific credit card was used. For months prior and not since. Period. No transactions online, in person, or any other way EXCEPT for AVIS. I have an RFID purse and wallet so it's impossible they were hacked EXCEPT AT THE AVIS COUNTER.I refuse to ever use AVIS again.Review fromMontez P

1 starSaturday 3/6/2024, I went to pick up my rental. I reserved a pick up truck which they did not have, so we was going to rent a car. They charged my card the machine said it was approved. The clerk said it did not go through. I swiped again, it said approved again. They're system shutdown and she shouldn't see my payment. I showed her my account with the two pending payments of $327.06. She called her manager who told her to tell us to call customer service. **************** could not help. She then told us to call our bank and reverse the payment so she can try and process it again. The bank had me file a dispute which will take up to 15 days to resolve. The rude and unprofessional clerk said there wasn't anything she should do. She asked if we wanted to use another card. NO!!!!! We left with no rental and $654.12 pending on my account. 1 starLet me star that would not recommend this company.I would not even give them one star. My Family had a horrible experience with Avis. Avis road assistant reps and managers were very unprofessional and extremely rude. We reserved a van at the ************* the 1st van given to us had HUGE NAIL in of the tires. We went back again to get a new one and in our way to ******* on MM 187 we had a flat tire thank God tire didn't blew up and after waiting for almost 4 hrs for tech to come and change the tire, the van didn't have an spare tire and the tire was not good because had a huge open on the size that was no able to hold air. We had 2 elderly people, 3 ****************** of the ***** and they were no able to help us out and walk to the nearest gas station that was 5 miles at 1am in the morning.. They were telling us to walk on the middle of the turnpike because they were not able to send someone to help us out. And if it wasn't because of the ***** TROOPER that were able to take my family to the nearest station at 3am in the morning and put us safe in a place where we had a restroom and be safe while we wait for the morning. Next they we tried to order uber and guess what there were no uber that work in that area. Finally, one of our family member had to come from ***** to p/up us. AVIS *************** were rude and unhelpful. I even spoke with the manager and he. was extremely rude and unhelpful. NEVER use this company. Everyone I encountered was unprofessional and super unhelpful. Rent elsewhere which is what we ended up doing with a much better outcome.Im happy this awful company is not getting my money. Would give a zero if I could. Horrible costumer service , manager is extremely rude and unprofessional. Very unpleasant experience Would personally never never use them again and would recommend everyone else do the same.By the way we are getting suing them for negligent and if we need to wait for time we are willing to waitAvis Rent A Car

3 starsMy name is *****. W. I rented a vehicle on March 7,2024. I rented for my mother-in-law funeral. I returned it on 3/17/24 spending ******. I received a letter about a ****** cleaning fee and was charged spending *******. I never knew about a 450 cleaning fee. I would have cleaned it myself. I called and supposed to be credited. This is a rip off. This should be disclosed by the reps when picking up the car. It does not take 450 to clean a vehicle If this is disclosed the person can have it cleaned. This caused overdraft fees on my card. We just got through with funeral expenses. Avis was my go to rental place. I never experienced anything like this in the past from Avis. I have seen multiple complaints about the expensive 450 fee. Please disclose when renting the vehicle. This 450 is too high after spending several dollars on the vehicle.Avis Rent A Car

If a car is returned to us with trash, stains from pet waste and other bio-hazards, dirt, or other residue that a customer leaves behind, a location will bill up to $450.00 to clean the car so that it can be rented again. This information is made available on our website in our terms of use as well in the rental paperwork provided at the time of checkout. We understand you may have overlooked or may not agree with this policy, however this is the expense associated with restoring the car after your use.

1 starRenter Beware.I rented a vehicle from Avis and was happy with the rental. The issue i have was upon return. I returned the vehicle to the location prior to the time required. I turned the keys in and was asked if the tank was full which it was. I asked about the monies that where on hold and was told that it would be released. Three days after the return i was charged 267.50 which appeared on my account. I called questioning the charge and was told it was a cleaning fee. I understand that a fee may be charged for cleaning in the rental agreement it states a reasonable fee for cleaning exterior and interior. When i returned the vehicle i was told that all was good and i could go. Never once did anyone look at the vehicle and tell me that i would be charged a fee for the cleaning. The truck was white so after a week rental it had normal exterior dirt there was some mud on the step rockers that got kicked up from the tires nothing overly excessive. The interior was very minor debris on carpet if that. The office when questioned said that the cleaning fee can be up to 450 dollars this is nowhere stated in the rental agreement. I the fee was charged days later and never informed of it or given a receipt stating that i was being charged, only confirmation i got was that my vehicle was returned and checked in on that Saturday the charge was three days later. This is a shady way to do business not stating the fees anywhere and who determines what is excessive. Renter beware.
