1 starI wish I could give zero stars. Our experience started out good, we got the vehicle quickly, customer service was nice, we drove to our destination and turned the vehicle in with no issues. Now, weeks later, we receive an email stating there was windshield damage to the car, and that we owe an additional $640 for a new windshield. They are stating they have pictures. The window was not damaged or cracked at all when we turned in the car. The rep at the location where we turned it in at looked over the car and said we were good. They are trying to scam us! I will be fighting this, and will NEVER rent through Avis/Budget again.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./****************,
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
When a customer rents from **********************, they have the option to purchase a Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) that will waive their responsibility for vehicle damages incurred during their rental use. Our records do not reflect that you purchased the Loss Damage Waiver that would have waived the cost of repair to the rental vehicle. Since the waiver was not purchased and we did not find a record of any pre-existing conditions from the time you picked up the vehicle, we have determined that you are responsible for the full cost of the damage incurred to the vehicle. If this is in error, please provide your copy of the vehicle inspection slip provided by the ************** (D4B) location for the condition of the car at the time of pick up to us at ********************************************************************;
We await your reply and look forward to assisting you in the future.
Sincerely,
Avis Budget Group

1 starWe had a pre-paid rental at the ****************. Upon arrival, I asked if the car had *** and they told me it didn't and they talked me into an upgrade. When we left the airport, we couldn't get it to work but our first stop was very straightforward. We tried again and again and could not get it to work. On the fourth day, we visited two Avis locations (***** and *******) and they both told us there was nothing they could do and that the *** was not active. We pretty much got lost every day and that was causing my wife and I to argue about directions. This put a real sour taste to our vacation. When I returned the car, they admitted they were in error but they only returned 50 Euros and not the full amount. While dealing with Avis online, they said they would rectify the issue 10 days after the contract had closed but I stopped hearing from them.We spent so much on the plane, and accomodations and pr-paid our car so there would be no issues. They sold us something that we didn't get and are not honouring the contract.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./******************,
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
From review f your case, we did confirm that your original booking was for a Mini Manual class as a **** 500 or similar for nine days of use. Your rental was checked out with an upgrade to an Intermediate SUV and you were billed for the cost of the upgrade. While built-in GPS navigation may be available in some vehicle models, this is not a guaranteed feature for our fleet. GPS as an additional service is billed when a GPS unit is assigned to the rental, which was not the case for your use of the Intermediate SUV.
We are sorry that the charges displayed on your finalized rental billing differed from what you were expecting. While we understand that you may not agree with our findings, we have reviewed your rental agreement and based on the rental parameters that you agreed to on the signed rental agreement, we find the rental charges to be correct as billed.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.
Sincerely,
Avis Budget Group

1 starAvis is charging illegal fees for additional drivers as under California law, there are no additional driver fees for a parent, sibling or child of the renter. The representative **** at the LAX Avis office knew that and still proceeded to inform myself that my mother needed to be charged as an additional driver. I wonder if it's standard business practice for national level businesses like Avis to try to scam renters like this because most renters are not aware of this law? Seems like something that could be taken up to The Los Angeles ***************** of ******** and Business Affairs for consumer fraud and potentially lawsuit worthy if additional renters catch on and are made to be aware of these illegal charges that *** have been charged to them in the past.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./**********,
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
We apologize for any misunderstanding. We are fully aware that providing good service is a major factor in separating us from the competition. To learn that we have failed to provide you with the level of service you would expect from us was perhaps as disappointing for us as it was for you. We take our commitment to our customers very seriously and a copy of your comments has been forwarded to the responsible department for review and improvement.
We do confirm that our LAX operations team was contacted to correct the additional driver charges for your mother.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

1 starAn attempt to inform the *** of safety concerns resulted in a undeliverable letter. The following is that letter:April 1, 2024 *********************** Subject: Rental agreement Number xxxxx2850 Dear ****************** On Wednesday March 20 my wife and I arrived at the Rapid pick-up office at ***************************. Our envelope was not ready, so we waited in line for the agent to complete a rental agreement. After direction to the incorect car, an alternate was provided. We traveled to ***********. Leaving ********** on Sunday a low tire pressure warning light forced us to visit an open tire repair business. A leaking valve was replaced. While the car was lifted the store manager informed us both front tires had severe wear defects. The tires were worn to metal on both front tires. It was determined the car was unsafe to drive. As a secondary concern the Acuras information panel indicated the car was 600 miles overdue for maintenance. An open Budget rental office near the tire repair store was visited. The rental agents were informed of the unsafe car condition. A replacement was demanded. The obvious unsafe conditions of the car seemed to be taken casually with a lack of concern by the rental agents. After the exchange the replaced car performed without incident. The initial $75 dollar refund offered had the impression of give the customer something to go away. The additional $46 additional refund from the ************ manager had the same impression. The thing that upset me most was the lack of concern from any agent of Budget with the fact of putting my wife and me in an unsafe car and the realization of what could have happened driving that car at highway speeds. Enough agents were contacted during this incident in my attempt to impress this safety issue and showing no concern leads me to believe this is a company culture deficiency within Budget. I would think, as ***, this concern for safety would be important enough to address.Avis Rent A Car

1 star"A CURRENT PAID RESERVATION IS FAR LESS IMPORTANT THAN A FUTURE NON-PAID RESERVATION" SHOULD BE THE AVIS MOTTO. NOT "WE AIM TO PROVIDE A STRESS FREE RENTAL EXPERIENCE EACH TIME YOU RENT WITH US. We are currently renting a car thru Avis, pre-paid. The statement on this page "We aim to provide a stress-free rental experience each time you rent with us," has been far from our experience. We rented a Standard Elite SUV which was great, until it wasn't. Suddenly we began to experience transmission issues that made it impossible to retain that vehicle for the entirety of our rental agreement. We went to the nearest Avis locations to seek a replacement vehicle and were provided with the ONLY available vehicle at the time, a Chrysler Voyager minivan. We knew we could only use this car while in the town we were visiting and needed the original Standard Elite SUV for our return due to number of passengers and luggage. For the last week and a half we have been checking in re: when that vehicle would be available. Nothing. We are finally told that on Tuesday, June 4, multiple vehicles would be returned. We proactively called on Monday to verify that is still the case. No. SOLD OUT. We have spoken with locations ranging from 1 to 4 hours AWAY from where we are with no luck. **************** has been useless. How do you operate a car rental customer service phone line and have no way of telling customers what is available to rent. There is no supervisor. It was suggested that I drive, round trip 3 HOURS out of my way to go and SEE IF THEY HAVE A VEHICLE TO MEET MY NEEDS. I am a prepaid current renter, and the rental locations are protecting their "future renters". You have got to be joking. At this point I want out of my contractual obligations, since Avis isnt holding up their contractual obligations. At no cost, not the $3,000 they want to slap me with. Their priorities are obvious. Like a cash cow. Get the customer to pay and then ignore them. Shame on you Avis.Avis Rent A Car

1 starZero stars if I could. Horrible customer service. At the counter the young man told me that my complete reservation number did not come thru. Told me I had to cancel my reservation and start over. No problem. Told me my money would be refunded in 3-5 days. I called Avis customer service ********************************* my account. I called today 14 days after. Still no refund. I was told that the returned failed and that they will have to do an investigation. He told me that could take up to 10 days. Horrible company. Do no rent from them- very shady. What company holds on to your money for a month!?! Never ever renting again from them.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI reserved and prepaid for a rental car through Avis.com. I never agreed to their fuel service (prepaying for a fuel tank of gas) online nor in person. A fuel service fee of over $90.00 was added to my final bill upon returning the car. I returned the car back with a full tank of gas; Avis confirmed this on my final receipt. After contacting their customer service via phone, I was told to submit my claim through email. After submitting my claim through email, I was told "In order to resolve your case and consider an adjustment to the charges please attach in PDF format, a copy of the gas receipt from the actual gas station that includes the name of the station, the address, the dollar amount and the number of gallons purchased, showing you purchased fuel just prior to return. Please include Avis Case number ******** on the email document. Alternately, you may provide a screen shot of the expanded details section from your credit card statement for the refuel charge. Please ensure that it shows the name of the location, date and if possible time of transaction along with the dollar amount of the purchase."Luckily I paid for gas using a credit card. I now must wait for my credit card portal to show the transactions. In the meantime, I have submitted the receipt given to me by Avis where it shows that I returned the car with a full tank of gas. Their own receipt should suffice, and they should have not added an unapproved service to my rental. This is the second time that Avis has done this to a rental of mine.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./************,
Budget values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
For those customers who are not members of our Budget Fastbreak program, Budget provides a signed, written copy of their rental agreement contract that specifically outlines all of the charges associated with their rental period. These charges are based on the rental parameters provided in the reservation or based on any changes made by the customer at the time the contract is created at the rental counter. These contracts are signed by the customer at the time of ********************** so that by signing the rental agreement contract, the customer agrees to all of the ********************** charges and any potential costs associated with changes in your rental parameters. The costs associated with any changes in the rental parameters are also outlined on the written contract. If a customer does not agree with the contract details presented at time of rental, it is the due responsibility of the renter to request clarification and correction prior to departing the location with the rental agreement and vehicle.
Your rental was checked out with Loss Damage Waiver coverage, *********************** and ************************** accepted and signed for and these were billed on the final receipt. From review of the rental use, as the vehicle was recorded as returned with less fuel than checked out with, we do consider that the prepaid gas service was understood and utilized. We have reviewed your rental agreement and based on the rental parameters that you agreed to on the signed rental agreement, we find the rental charges to be correct as billed and as outlined above.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.
