      I had a number of issues with my recent car rental / Budget + Avis. I put a formal complaint with the company, and got a generic reply, hence why I am writing this here. The issues:1) I rented a car at the **************************************************** location, but unfortunately our flight was cancelled and rescheduled for the following day. This was the day I was scheduled to pick up the car, however the location in question closes Sunday at 1pm, and our flight was not landing until that evening. I called in advance to let them know I would pick up the car first thing Monday morning instead, and was told there would be an extra charge to pick up past 15 hours of the original time; of note, the store closes within 1 hour of my original reservation, so my "15 hour" window was only 1 business hour. Furthermore, the return date was to be the same. I'm surprised there hasn't been a class action lawsuit for this money-grab (cars are paid for for the duration of the rental - why is budget allowed to charge more for picking up later or returning earlier if within that time?) Happy to join one 2) When booking the rental, the website advertised a pickup service available for the location, and to call 24 hours before to have this arranged. I did so, however the phone number provided for the location went directly to a central call-centre (in fact I assumed this was the location's direct line at first). Regardless, when dealing with issue #1 above, I booked a pickup with the manager I was speaking to, which of course never occurred, and I ubered to the location. Upon arriving, I was told that the location has not offered pickup for many years. This was in essence false advertising, costing me not only time during my vacation, but two uber rides.3) When returning the car, I waited over 20 minutes for a representative to arrive at the drop off counter (it was vacated despite being during business hours). Not as major an issue (luckily I was not in a rush), but given #1 and 2 above...

      If I could put negative stars, I would. I rented a car from the Avis ************ at the *********, **********. I did not pay for roadside assistance as I have AAA and coverage through my credit card company. The car broke down less than 10 minutes after leaving the Avis Rental Counter, while I was still in the airport terminal area. I attempted to make a U-turn to go back to the counter and the car stalled blocking the entrance to the airport. I tried to call the local number from the contract but could not get through. After 11 attempts, I called the main number and they apologized, told me they would provide roadside assistance at no charge and get me a new vehicle. It took 2 hours and 50 minutes to get the new vehicle. Not only did Avis not refund the partial day rental, but they decided it would be better to tow the car to ************** from *********, ** and sent me a bill for the towing and repairs. After several days of not being able to find phone numbers, other than reservations, no response from customer service, and sending emails to their billing department, I am being told I am still responsible for the cost of repair.If I would have known this would be the case, I would have called AAA and dropped the car in the rental return lane and gone somewhere else.

      Terrible customer service. Called to let me know they dont have cars for the day I already reserved. Then proceeded to tell me they couldnt cancel my reservation over the phone that id have to call corporate. People are corporate were even worse

      We rented a car for a wedding in early April, $296.53. WEEKS later, Avis charged $250 with no notice of any kind. When I noticed, I asked what the charge was for and they stated the car was "exceptionally dirty". $250?! Absolutely not a valid charge, not even $1 would be justifiable. I've paid less to fully detail my personal car! And weeks later?? Absurd. We rent/travel often and I've never seen such a thing.

As you have stated this was not the condition you returned the vehicle if you have pictures of the vehicle at the time of return which include a date/time stamp please provide them for us to review the charges additionally. Without support documentation the cleaning fee will be upheld.

      Please look below just in the year of 2024 horrible business practice.My Family and I were contacted the day of scheduled 4 days prior for pick up to let us know no vehicle of that size is available after receiving full payment to have to sit on hold for refund that will take according to email received 3-10 business days Company replied we have a **** edge after making a reservation for a suburban for the room needed, it shouldnt have allowed me to book the reservation ruining a family vacation the day of departure.

      I have recently rented a vehicle for my business trip down to ******* and it has been nothing but a nightmare. I was first rented a ******* that tags were expired and was pulled over twice by law enforcement. Returned that vehicle to ***********. Then was given a Tesla that was not charging correctly returned that vehicle as well and now Im in a Tesla that is infested with roaches. I have pictures and video proof. This is unacceptable and I expect better from a global business like Avis.

      I reported an accident to my supplemental insurance and Avis was no help providing anything on their end. The insurance company eventually closed my claim from lack of a response. Well fast forward over a year later and the only contact I have had with "them" is now from a 3rd party debt collector. They never even contacted me or sent a bill or any follow up on the accident. I do rentals between 7-10 days monthly from them on other car companies, but I really did prefer budget/avis. No longer! Sometimes I book through the avis/budget app and sometimes through a 3rd party. They used to be good but this is so far beyond acceptable. They didn't even contact me to continue their part of the claim that I filled out. I can't imagine I will be renting 10 days a month for 5 years ever again from them! I'm no insurance agent but this is not the appropriate way to handle a claim. I will be reaching out to every regulatory agency imaginable. Apparently, theft is legal if you are a large and inept company. Ironically, I just returned a rental from them unscathed from the exact location where I rented from a year ago from the incident. Got home to open my mail and that's where I find the letter from the debt collector! They enjoy taking my money through rentals and by not answering my inquiries about the insurance. Double dipping on both ends. No more rentals from Avis/budget group I guess. Literally just got home after using my avis rental car to get to the airport just to find the bill from a debt collector in the mail. No word from avis/budget group in over a year!

Our Claims representatives relay information directly to renters; any dealings with 3rd party insurance providers must be completed by the renter to make arrangements for payments or reimbursements.

      Avis is the worst car rental ever. I rented a car on line for weeks before so I got it for $145. When I reached to pick the car up they were astonished and started to discussed about how cheap I got the vehicle because it should be in the $400 and up. Few weeks after getting my credit card bill, it was bill for up to $400. When I called them they added a lot of things to the $145 to bring it to the $400. The vehicle was also super dirty when we got it. TAKE MY ADVICE, DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. They will add things in order for you to pay more

      We are sorry that the charges displayed on your finalized rental billing differed from what you were expecting. Our review of your reservation confirmed that it was booked for 2 days of use from May 17th at 7:30pm to May 19th at 5:30pm. The rental  was picked up on May 17th at 9:43am and was in use through May 19th at 5:17pm. Your rental with Avis commences at the time the contract is generated for your car rental. This usually coincides with the time that you pick up your car rental keys and depart the rental facility. The rental rates are based on a 24-hour day. However, at our locations in the U.S. and ******, customers are allowed a grace ****** of 29 minutes before any additional time and mileage charges are applied. After 30 minutes, a charge of three-quarters of the daily rate plus $0.01 is applied. At 90 minutes, a full additional day is charged.

      The rental charges also included Loss Damage Wavier coverage, Roadside Safety Net coverage, and refueling. We understand you may not agree with these findings. However, we do find your rental billing to be correct and no adjustments are warranted for services received and billed.

      Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

      I do not leave reviews or ratings but I am extremely dissatisfied and frustrated with Avis. I was charged an extra ****** when I returned my car. I was charged a number of fees and for a full tank of gas even though the car was returned with a full tank of gas. It seems like my sentiment is shared by others in this thread. I wish I would have checked here before giving Avis my business. I will never rent from them again..

      My experience with Budget Rent-a-Car was possibly the most Kafkaesque experience I have ever had with a business so well known and established.Essentially, they harassed me when I called about a gasoline charge that I assumed I erroneously incurred after I returned the car with the exact amount of gas in it than whenI rented it.They told me to "prove it." I told them to look at the paperwork, which clearly showed what I was saying was accurate. That wasn't an acceptable form of proof for them (even though it was THEIR paperwork). I took a picture of the paperwork with the gasoline level upon rental and emailed it to them. That also wasn't enough. They made me produce a receipt for the gas I put in the car before returning, which I didn't have. I had to go to my credit card statement with the gasoline charge, copy it, and email it to them before they reversed the charges.They wasted my time. They treated me as if I was not to be trusted, when all I did was rent a car from them and abided by their policies.I would award 0 stars if I could...The experience still seems unreal to me.
