      My car was stolen months ago and Avis has changed my credit card instead of to my insurance company. Ive been trying to call every number and message every person I can regarding this issue with no response or correspondence. *** spent at least 12 hours on the phone with various people trying to work through this and even had a few of them lie and give me fake numbers to call. I can never recommend using Avis, or this location. No customer service

      In regards to the aforementioned BBB complaint, thank you for giving us the opportunity to address your concerns.

      Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.

      When a vehicle is reported stolen, you are charged for the rental until the vehicle is located or until we are notified and a police report file. We have checked our records and show that we were not notified about the vehicle being stolen until March 16th, 2024, this is the date we stopped billing. Additionally, we show that on March 16th, 2024, you also notified us that the vehicle had been located. 

      The vehicle was in impound and you as the renter are responsible for impound fees. Additionally, we do show that once the vehicle was located there was damage to the vehicle, as you did not have our Loss Damage Waiver, you as the renter is responsible for the damage, the damage charges are handled by our Claims Team and they are able to work with your insurance to see if the charges would be covered by them. Please note that if your ***************** declines to coverage the damages than you be full responsible to pay for the damages.

      Arrived to ******************, made my reservations ahead of time. It took an hour just to get to the counter to finish the paperwork, then I was told to head to the garage where my car would be assigned, why wasn't my car assigned when I made the reservation? Now I'm in the garage and there are two employees with zero sense of urgency assigning vehicles. The one employee is talking on her phone while ****************** line waiting to receive their car, highly unorganized and highly unprofessional. It takes another hour until I'm finally assigned my car. It took over 2 hours to receive my car, that's the same amount of time my flight was... the car was not very clean but acceptable at this time, there was no washer fluid but I was ready to go. I return the car 3 days later and now AVIS is charging me $125.00 for a cleaning fee!?! This is the worst experience with a car rental company I've ever had and will never use AVIS again. This location needs a serious management revamp because it's a mess.

      We apologize for the delay in getting your vehicle, the only customers who would have a vehicle preassigned is our customers who have signed up for ********************** Preferred as they already have a credit card and driver's license on file. To sign up for ********************** Preferred you may do so from www.avis.com, the first rental with ***************** you will still have to go to the counter to have your credentials checked and sign your Master Rental Agreement. Once completed at most locations you will get to bypass the counter and go straight to your vehicle. 

      Please note per the rental terms and conditions you are required to return the vehicle in the same condition or better than you rented. Failure to do so may result in a cleaning fee up to $450.00. The rental counter did provide pictures of the vehicle which do support that additional cleaning was required at the time of return. Based on this we do find the cleaning fee to be valid.

      Absolutely disrespectful. I have never had any problems with avis HOWEVER the gentleman who is the manager or franchise owner of this location is absolutely unprofessional. He will lie, cheat ,and steal from you in your face. We as Uber drivers pay a deposit once we FIRST obtain the vehicle then pay the weekly rental on our respective due date. For this man to keep the holds on our deposit then tell us to come in after 11 am the next day and charge us a two day late fee and we need to pay $700 PLUS the weekly rental rate. That's a $1000+ !!! He does not care to hear anything you have to say. He has hung up on Avis customer service when they have called telling them he don't have " do a d@mn thing". You can call but you will be placed on hold for 30 minutes at a time everytime you call. He will charge your card two in you billing period claiming that you didn't pay which will result in him removing you from the Uber platform. He makes it know that he does it and does not care because it's his business and will do as he pleases. I know that Avis as a company takes pride within their customer service but this location needs to be inspected and evaluated. If this is a franchise it should be closed or put under new management. I ask the BBB please look into this company as we the driver are being robbed in front of our eyes. Some can not speak and take the loss because this is all they have to provide . IT IS WRONG, UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNACCEPTABLE. Please look into all reservations. If you are seeking employment I beg of you to find it else where or at another location.

      Through the Uber program, a hold for a one week rental is issued to the card on file. When the rental is completed, we will attempt to renew for a new week. If the card on file declines for any reason, we cannot renew for a new week and the current rental will remain open until we can authorize a rental renewal or the vehicle is returned; the current rental may be billed for additional days of use and late penalties in this situation. 

      From review of your rental history, there has been record of some billing delays that have resulted in additional day and late fee charges. While we have made accommodation for your rental use from May 22nd to May 23rd, going forward any rental that cannot be renewed as scheduled will be subject to additional day charges and late penalties.

      Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

      This is the worse company to rent an auto. I rented 2 cars for vacation. I pre-paid for both autos in advance to make sure we would have an auto when getting off the ship. The cost was as follows: $683.42 for each car which totals $1,366.84. They took the payments immediately from my account. My ********************** Agreement numbers are 764 505 78 1 and 764 505 77 0. I picked up both autos on June 14, 2024, at *************************************************, Port of Miami CruiseShip PSGRS Miami FL. Returned to the *************, ********. After reviewing the receipts Agreement --- 764 505 78 1 was over charged by ******. Agreement 764 505 77 0 was over charged by *****. This is a total of ******. I called Avis and they stated that because they were pre-booked and pre-paid that the amount was not refundable. I argued with the rude lady, but she said that is what happens when you prepay for an auto with Avis. They are crooks ****** is a lot of money. As the agent stated that because I pre-paid there is no refund that is their money. The invoice totals were ******** for both autos. I hope the *** can sleep at night knowing he is ripping his customer off. I am sure this complaint will be ignored since the owners are OK ripping people off.

We apologize for any misunderstanding of the unused portion of the prepayment as we do confirm that the unused prepaid value is related to the removal of the Additional Driver fees, a courtesy rate adjustment from the location, and associated taxes. Refunds totaling $206.12 have been submitted to your prepayment card and should reflect within the next 3-5 days; transaction receipts have been sent to your email on file for your records.

      A friend of my mine rented a car for us to visit our sick grandma in **. We had no real issues the first 2 times of rental. The 3rd time. We had to get the car early and park in a garage bc the location on 31st and 8th closed at 3pm. Fine. Well deal with that BUT then we were charged a higher price after booking days before. The woman was rude about it and said its already charged when my friend saw her card charged a different price. We were supposed to get a member price.Were on the road now. No ezpass. We call to explain our issues and customer service took ages to answer and then after 2 mins the guy says. Yea idk how to handle this so can you call back. We try to call back and ***** answers the phone. The store itself says call customer service. We just got a bill for the tolls and bc Avis didnt provide the ezpass like theyve done both times prior we got hit with a massive bill. Thanks a lot Avis. You made the trip to grandmas miserable.

      Many vehicles will now have a toll pass sticker or will rely on license plate capture. **** services can be added to the reservation or at the counter at the time of pick-up. If the service is not added, all toll use will be billed by the highway authority for each toll used as well as a daily convenience fee; this is only affected by whether or not the service is included on the agreement and not by the presence or lack of a transponder. We apologize if this information was overlooked or miscommunicated.

      I have exclusively used Avis for a decade, but recently my experience has been INCREDIBLY poor. I rented a car from ******* and dropped off in ********* - it's approx 150m between these locations. Within 6 hrs, I drove directly from ******* to *********, dropped off my car, and imagine my surprise when my rental is 2x as much as I expected! Well, apparently for the first time, I was charged for miles - and they do NOT include the miles required to get to *********. I called their customer service and they had to show me the fine print (not bolded, not highlighted a different color, just off to the side "000 miles") that I signed for it and "they won't be changing anything." I don't plan to ever use Avis again. It's a shame, it used to be a great company pre-covid. There are other rental companies out there that actually want my business, and I travel a good amount!

      Upon review and in checking your reservation and rental agreement, we find that you were booked and rented on a corporate rate, which included a per mileage fee of $0.27. This is the negotiated rate for your company and in keeping within this contract your mileage charges will remain on the corporate rate as reserved. If you believe this to be in error, we recommend contacting your company's travel coordinator or human resources team for further assistance. 
       
      We understand this may have been overlooked at the time of your booking, however, your rental billing is found to be correct and no adjustment warranted for services received and billed.

      The World's Worst Car Rental Service #pls let there be the option to give Zero Star They gave me a car with expired registration (3yrs expired...!!!). The police stopped me and I had to pay a fine for putting unregistered vehicle on the road!This company doesn't care about their customer!People, do yourself a favor, by all means ....Avoid AVIS!

      Avis strives to provide a mechanically sound, well-maintained fleet, and we are sincerely sorry that you were inconvenienced by the registration display expiration. Because our vehicles can travel across the country, and in some cases internationally, there can be instances where a vehicle's registration is updated with local authorities where the vehicle is registered, but the license plate display has not been physically updated; this can happen if a vehicle registered in one state or province has since traveled to and is in use in a different state or province. Most law enforcement agencies recognize that renters are not responsible for the registration upkeep of a vehicle and will issue citations against the rental company that owns the vehicle and not the renter.  

      In the event that a renter does receive a citation for a registration issue only, we can review for transfer of liability or reimbursement (if the citation has already been paid by the renter) with our ********************* This can be done by emailing a copy of an issued citation to ***************************************************** If a citation is issued for any other reason or in addition to registration issues, liability for additional violations is the responsibility of the renter using the vehicle; Avis will only handle registration issues. 

      If the citation was issued in your name, the citation must be addressed by you with the issuing authority. If a fine is issued, please provide us with a copy of the receipt or proof of payment reflecting the citation and fine amount from the issuing authority for reimbursement.

      Horrible ****************** Yesterday I rented a car at ********************** and half a terrible experience with a ***** who was rude and obnoxious. Tried to upsell me a much more expensive car because the car I already reserved was unavailable. He also got annoyed that a didnt want to pay for gas in advance. I will never rent from this company again

      Was charged $200 for returning car one hour late. Called earlier that morning to adviced I was involved in an accident that tied up traffice for several hours out of town. How do they justify this amount???????My original charge for $169 for 4 days.Never again Avis!!

      Rentals commence at the time the contract is generated for the car rental. This usually coincides with the time that you pick up your car rental keys and depart the rental facility. The rental rates are based on a 24-hour day. However, at our locations in the U.S. and ******, customers are allowed a grace ****** of 29 minutes before any additional time and mileage charges are applied. After 30 minutes, a charge of three-quarters of the daily rate plus $0.01 is applied. At 90 minutes, a full additional day is charged.
       
      Per the terms and conditions on the rental document jacket provided at time of rental and found on www.avis.com/terms , You agree to return the car to us in the same condition you received it, ordinary wear and tear excepted, on the due date and at the time and to the location specified by you at the time of reservation. You must return it sooner on our demand. If you return it earlier or later, a different or higher rate *** apply and, if returned later, you *** be charged a late return fee. You *** not return the car at a time when we are closed. If you do, your responsibility for damage to or loss of the car will continue and all charges stated on the rental document as a ******ic rate will continue to accrue until the return location reopens and we retake actual possession of the car. If we do not find the car when that location reopens, your responsibility for all charges and for damage to or loss of the car will continue until the car is actually returned or recovered and possession is returned to ***
       
      We acknowledge that external factors such as weather, road conditions, or traffic congestion *** impact your ability to return the vehicle in a timely manner.
