      I was charged $125 cleaning fee on rental agreement ******7046 for interior dirt/sand, nearly three weeks after turning in my rental car. There were rainy/wet conditions for an entire week when I picked up my rental car which led to the sand. Prior to that at pickup, I experienced problems with rude staff and a long wait at ******************. Also at pickup, the wrong vehicle was waiting for me, and it was dirty. I had to go into the office twice to change rental vehicles due to these unsatisfactory conditions, while traversing the large parking garage on foot while carrying all of my luggage. Finally, on my assigned rental vehicle the license plate was missing the registration sticker for the year and that nearly led to me receiving a ticket later on from law enforcement. This was my first experience with renting a vehicle from Avis (and will be my last), and my first time experiencing difficulties during renting a vehicle. I requested the $125 cleaning fee returned or cancelled and was denied. I was charged $125 for sand! No consideration was given by Avis about the difficulties I experienced during my rental period by their company. They just want to saddle customers with fees instead of making it right. Never again.

      We are sorry to hear your experience with us has been less than positive. We were unable to find a previous report of any issues during the rental period and regret that we were not given the opportunity to address them at that time. 

      Renters are expected to return the vehicle in the condition it was received in. If a car is returned to us with dirt, sand, spills, or other soilage residue that a customer leaves behind, a location will bill up to $450.00 to clean the car so that it can be rented again. We understand you may not agree with this policy, but this is the expense associated with restoring the car after your use; the cleaning fee issued against the rental is adequate based on the photos provided by the location. 

      Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

      We checked our vehicle in and left a bag in the car. We attempted to call as soon as they were open. Call went through to a national customer service line. They refused to give us a contact number to the place where we checked in the car. We also attempted to get in touch with a human Avis Rep in the airport where we are currently in layover. They were ZERO help. If I could rate them a zero I would. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!! We will never use them again, nor will we recommend them to any of our travel agency clients!!!

      If you are still near the return location, we recommend returning to their office to report your missing item for retrieval. If you are not able to go to the rental return location, we recommend looking up the location's contact information at ******************************************************************* to call for any Lost and Found options; if prompted to leave a voicemail, please be sure to provide the following in your message;
      -      Your personal contact and rental information
      -      A description of the lost item 
      -      Exactly where the item was left in the vehicle
       
      If you have been unsuccessful in reaching the vehicle return location, you may submit a lost report for most locations via www.avislostandfound.com , or you may phone ************** to create or follow-up on your lost item report.

      If we have advised that your item has not been recovered, as you might have noted on your rental contract, Avis is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal items in our rental vehicles. In the case that your lost item is not located, to determine whether you are covered for this loss, perhaps you will want to contact your insurance agent.

      Avis charged my family $250 for what they claimed was necessary extra cleaning. The first claim was that the debris was sand. I asked for photos. The photos showed zero sand, and the next claim was that, "the removal of food stains on the seats, pet hair that cannot be removed through normal vacuuming, excessive odor, smoke odor, and cigarette *****." Again, the photos showed zero indication of these causes for extra cleaning. And is seems Avis made the final charge on my family's credit card only after the links they emailed for customer reviews had expired. ********************** has not responded to my last two attempts to contact them.

      Renters are expected to return the vehicle in the condition it was received in. If a car is returned to us with trash, dirt, food spills and stains, or other soilage residue that a customer leaves behind, a location will bill up to $450.00 to clean the car so that it can be rented again. We do find the photos to support the applied cleaning charges; we understand you may not agree with this policy, but this is the expense associated with restoring the car after your use.

      2 rentals through Avis-Budget group. One in October last year and another one in June 2024. Both times the vehicle were returned with tank full and both times Avis charged for fuel, which they immediately reversed when I called or emailed. ****** suspiciously like an attempt to charge hoping people don't realise, since most people who rent cars are on trips and too busy to pay attention. For my second rental, Avis advertised an Amazon gift card amounting to 10% of my rental rate. I have my Amazon account linked to my ********************** account. 2 weeks after returning the car and there is no sign of the gift card. Contacted Avis and they said there was no Amazon promotion tied to my rental. I showed them screenshots and they insisted there wasn't.Avis must be really desperate to engage in such deceptive practices. Disgusting.

      Our records indicate an after check-in fuel audit was performed and the vehicle was showing returned with 1.3 gallons under a full tank, which was automatically billed. We do confirm that our **************** team made an accommodation and waived this charge as a courtesy on June 11th. 

      Regarding Amazon's promotion, per their requirements Amazon Benefits must be used to take advantage of their offer. The offer is only available for U.S. Residents for rentals at Avis participating locations and may not be used in conjunction with any other AWD number or promotion. From review of your rental, a website promotion was applied to your reservation while being booked on Avis.com. While we understand that you may have selected another discount offer by mistake, as Amazon Benefits was not the promotion listed for this reservation (and so was not used for the rental,) Amazon will not recognize this rental as qualifying for their promotion.

      Correction Zero stars, I pre paid, got full insurance on a vehicle for a week from my bank account. We got back a day early so I thought Id take the car back. The rep. at the counter was quick to accept the early return. And never mentioned that there is no refund on prepaid vehicles!! So basically that kept $152.12 of my money and re- rented the car out. As long as I live I will never ever ever rent from them again nor will I never ever ever refer a family, friend, or enemy to Avis !!

      Had a reservation at the ******************* Location at ************* location. I had two other active reservations, so this 3rd reservation caused concern from the manager of the Avis location. I assured him that we paid for the additional drivers for the active reservations, along with any requirements placed on us. The Avis website accepted my reservation request with no warnings, and did not state this 3rd reservation would be an issue.This did not matter to the Clearwater Avis manager. He changed his story at least 3 times on why he wouldn't release the rental car to me. I even had to interrupt my family members' vacation and ask them to show up at the Avis location in order to appease this Avis manager. When they showed up ready and willing to prove their identity, as well as their association on the other reservations, the manager changed his story again and asked to see the keys of the other cars. Since they arrived in 1 car, they did not have the other set of car keys.And I didn't even require an additional driver on this 3rd reservation!Ultimately left with no car, an interrupted family vacation, and time lost finding another car with another car rental company. Manager just makes up stories to prevent renting cars to people without cause.

      We do confirm that two vehicles were already checked out in your name at the time that you were attempting to check out a third vehicle on July 10th. While we do offer some group and corporate travel rates that allow for vehicles to be booked for the same pick-up times and locations, a location may decide to not allow a coinciding rental to take place when a renter already has active rentals as we do not commonly provide multiple vehicles at different intervals to the same renter while active rentals are still in use.

      i picked up a car at avis love field in ********* i used the car less than 24 hours was told over the phone that i would be refunded because i rented the car for 11 days i was told i would not have to pick up another car that i would be refunded, now i have spoken to avis they now refuse to refund me. i was told the customer service rep on the phone the first time that explained that i would be refunded was not being truthful and just wanted to get me off the phone. i will never rent form this company again. horrible customer service.

      Your rental with Avis commences at the time the contract is generated for your car rental and your responsibility for all charges will continue until the car is physically recovered to us. In this case, we do confirm that after impound, the vehicle was recovered on July 9th. However, the charges were backdated to the 8th in a courtesy adjustment. While we understand that you may not agree, renters are responsible for any impound holds and subsequent loss of use when a vehicle is impounded and we do not have adjustments to issue for the time the vehicle was being held.

      We apologize that there was not a more favorable outcome.

      Avis takes your prepaid rental money, afterward denies you the car if you don't pass their credit check, and then won't return the money that you prepaid them online. Go to Enterprise!!!!

      All renters that make use of a debit card for the rental authorization hold must pass a soft credit check. If the credit check is unsuccessful, renters must provide a major credit card in their name instead. We do apologize if this requirement was overlooked before your arrival as we cannot make exception to this policy. 

      We do confirm that your prepayment was submitted for full refund and this was completed on July 10th.

      I planned to rent a Suburban from Avis for a vacation. I went on to look at the price and it came to just over $900 (I think $923). I decided not to book yet, and when I came back the next day, I had received an email that said "We've got a special offer for you" in the subject line. In the body of the email it said "Take up to 35% off your reservation" with an additional button to click saying "Claim up to 35% off". I clicked the button, it opened my previous search and the price was now $1,245.21! It said "Congratulations, Your Discount Has Been Applied". Could someone please tell me how an INCREASE in the price of over $300 qualifies as a discount?Additionally, the exact same thing happened when my husband tried to use his so-called "Discount" through his employer. This company is one big scam.

      Rate structures are similar to airline pricing; our prices change depending on car availability, location popularity, and many other factors. This is why prices can fluctuate on a minute-to-minute basis, especially during popular travel seasons and holidays. Unless its an advertised special offer, there generally isnt one set rate for a particular type of car, but rather a range of prices depending on the length and dates of your reservation. Even with special offers, the advertised rate usually applies to a limited supply of cars which varies daily by make and model at each location.

      We do offer a variety of discounts typically ranging from 5% and up to 35%; this is also based on availability of the vehicle type in question as well as any promotional requirements such as prepayments or bundle days. We are sorry to hear that there is not a lower rate available at this time.

      Horrible. I had a PREPAID rental from SLC airport 7/4/24. Had a "confirmed" vehicle for me. Even sent me an email to that effect: - ****** Camray class. Got to the counter but 56 people were in line already (I counted). I saw 9 terminals, 2 employees. One had no interest in serving customers; joked around with one customer over 1/2 hour while all of us in line. Bald guy with glasses. Then finally got to the counter where I was told my "confirmed car" was not available, but I could upgrade to a "LUXURY" Dodge Ram truck for ONLY $151.00 more! The alternative, I was told, was to wait an estimated 1/2 hour - 45 minutes to see if a car I ordered shows up. As I was on vacation, I agreed to the robbery. I was given a location where the truck was to be and to "just hop inside - keys are in it". Of course, there was nothing in that spot. Now I've lost over an hour of my vacation time at AVIS and still no car. I went to the office in the parking area and yes, I did loudly insist that I be given SOMETHING to drive. I was given a huge pickup truck, and of course, still was charged for the " LUXURY upgrade". These people have terrible management, horrific customer service, crooked business practices with this upgrade policy after they "confirmed" I would get what I reserved. I don't believe they ever had the car I reserved....and they don't care. My rental agreement is dated 7/7/24. I would love to hear a response from Avis and I'll provide any documentation you need to confirm what I'm saying. I'd give ZERO stars but I'm restricted to at least one star.

      We forecast vehicle availability based on how vehicles are scheduled to return. Several circumstances could cause inventory issues such as vehicles being extended, not returned on time or as agreed, returned to a different location, or breakdowns. We do our best to accommodate every rental but sometimes if vehicles aren't returned when they are scheduled, it causes us to be short on vehicles.
