1 starI prepaid for a rental as a discount was offered. When I wen to pick up the car at **********************, on July 4th, I was told they could not give me the car because even though it was prepaid, the voucher had not been filed correctly (by Avis). I was offered a new rental, for $200 more than the original. I called customer service, who gave me a phone number to call that was no longer in service. I called back, and now was offered a refund, still no car. They eventually gave me a new rental at the original price. However, they have not refunded the original amount charged to my card. There is a process to request a refund, for services that they charged me for, but did not provide. It may take 7 more business days. Today is July 19th.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI rented a car from AVIS in ************. First off they didn't have the car I rented so they gave me this ***** Pilot. Not what we wanted but okay it was a car. Two days in the front tire shredded as the insides of the tire had the belts showing. I would add pictures if I could called for help and it would have been a 6 -8 hour delay to get help. We changed the tire with the spare tire and was able to get it to the closest AVIS and they traded it out to us. the new car still had almost bald tires. But no belts showing. The ***** also for no reason while driving down the road would shimmy and flash brake like the sensors were messed up Both cars were over 75K on miles. They had UNSAFE tires on them. One had paint drippings on it. One had the inner fender liner about to rip out and flapping. All in all both cars were unsafe to be on the road. I would seriously think twice on AVIS again.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI went to the Avis rental car location in *********, **. I prepaid for my rental, but when I got to the location their representative *** asked if I wanted any insurance. I told him I didn't want anything extra, only what was required for my rental. When he handed me the rental agreement there were charges for optional insurance. I asked him about those and if they were required and he said yes. When I left the location, I decided to contact customer service who told me they were not required. I asked for them to change my rental, but they said I would have to go back to the location. When I did that the representative (*** was not there) said I couldn't change my agreement. At that point I said I felt like this was a predatory practice as he should have known better than to just add optional services without my permission AND to blatantly LIE when I asked if those optional services were required. Suddenly, the employee went back to speak with her manager who said to go ahead a change the rental agreement. I left and continued my vacation but a few days after I returned the car, I decided to reach out to Avis's customer service just in case they weren't aware of what was happening. Approximately one week later I received a $125 bill saying they had to vacuum the car due to "excessive sand." At this point I think they are retaliating against me simply because I made a complaint. I contacted customer service and was provided with a photos of the "damage" showing where they had to vacuum the carpet. I am filing the complaint here because I feel as though I was scammed at the reservation terminal by being told I was required to purchase optional insurance, and then when I made a complaint I was hit with a $125 additional charge.Avis Rent A Car

Rental charges are based on the rental parameters provided in the reservation or based on any changes made by the customer at the time the contract is created at the rental counter. These contracts are signed by the customer at the time of ********************** so that by signing the rental agreement contract, the customer agrees to all of the ********************** charges and any potential costs associated with changes in your rental parameters. The costs associated with any changes in the rental parameters are also outlined on the written contract. If a customer does not agree with the contract details presented at time of rental, it is the due responsibility of the renter to request clarification and correction prior to departing the location with the rental agreement and vehicle. We do confirm that coverage services were removed by the rental location shortly after the pick up time, and these services were not billed to the rental.
Regarding the cleaning fee, renters are expected to return the vehicle in the condition it was received in. If a car is returned to us with trash, dirt, food spills and stains, or other soilage residue that a customer leaves behind, a location will bill up to $450.00 to clean the car so that it can be rented again. Based on the photographs of the vehicle provided by the location, the cleaning charges are appropriate. We understand you may not agree with this policy, but this is the expense associated with restoring the car after your use.

1 starAfter searching for my car that wasnt even in the place I was told for 30mins without any help I finally found it. Then I didnt even make it home and the tire was flat. Roadside assistance told me it would cost me 150 to have someone come change the tire and put a donut on it. So I paid someone cheaper to change it. Went back to switch out cars, the tire had a slow leak. I didnt even have the car 20 minutes. Ok, so 2 months later I get a bill for the tire. I call customer service, after being hung up on 3 times and extremely rude cs reps, they literally told me word for word to **** it up and pay. 3 hours on the phone to speak to a supervisor for the supervisor to say Im sorry Ill take care of this for you. Its crazy I had to go through h*** to get it taken care of. I will never use Avis again! Unfortunate things happen sometimes but how their customer service was to me wad extremely disrespectful, I never in my life experienced that before.Avis Rent A Car

When a customer rents from **********************, they have the option to purchase the Extended Roadside Assistance (RSN) coverage at the time of rental that will waive additional costs associated with any roadside service provided by our **************** Team. Customers can also purchase a Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) that will waive their responsibility for vehicle damages incurred during an Emergency Roadside event.
Our records do not reflect that you purchased either the Extended Roadside Assistance (RSN) or the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) that would have waived these costs. Since these waivers were not purchased, it was determined that you are responsible for the full cost of the services provided and/or any damage incurred to the vehicle. However, our **************** team has applied a halt to the charges as a courtesy.

1 starAvis rental car at the *** is the worst. I am a first time user and renting from ********************** will be the last time. The service is awful, the cars are not serviced, and employees are not helpful. I paid over $700 for a SUV not serviced or cleaned. We were given 2 different SUVs with the dashboard flashing Oil Change Required and both were not cleaned. I wrote a letter to the *** of Avis and to the Avis Complaint LLC office. As of today, I have not received a response but I did receive an invoice with a different amount on it. My concerns were not their concerns. My husband and I are in our late 70s and was treated very unprofessional. My advise to others, DO NOT Rent from Avis.Avis Rent A Car

1 starIf I could zero I would! I am a Presidential member of Avis, as well as Executive Platinum of American Airlines. This Avis at ******************* is not the standard of what we are expecting. This is the third year I've used them, and each time there is an issue. Often times the cars are not cleaned or serviced. We had an oil light and maintenance issue on from the start. I have NEVER been given an allotment of miles to use, nor would I choose this, its always unlimited, I look at my reservation and when I asked the woman about this she tells me, "YOU PICKED IT" well I did not. Also the Upgrade I was promised was not granted. They are by far the highest priced and overpriced company at this location. I had to prepay and so I got whatever they were willing to give me. And when I returned the car, they charged us an extra $12 I really wanted to stick with who American Airlines uses, but NOPE - next time we are using Enterprise or Hertz, very reliable and always accommodating. The staff treats you with respect and unlike this facility that acts like they are doing us a favor to let us rent there cars, this never happened with Enterprise or Hertz. Shame on you at Avis for letting this group use your name. So I will forgo my miles to get better service, more frequent upgrades and NO ATTITUDE!!!!Update: received a very nasty letter from the manager ************************ from ****************** manager attacking me and basically saying Im lying. If anyone reads the reviews from this location of Avis, all other locations have been wonderful, but this location is scamming us, they dont clean or maintain the vehicles and overcharged us. Reports such as this are not taken lightly and the inappropriate behavior you encountered at the *** location will be addressed with senior management urgently.
Upon careful review, it has been determined that your rental was not originally quoted to include unlimited mileage and we do apologize if this was overlooked prior to your arrival. Our prices change depending on car availability, location popularity, and many other factors. This is why prices can fluctuate on a minute-to-minute basis and we cannot guarantee unlimited mileage for all rental use. Reservation details including rates, fees, and mileage allotments are made available for review in any Avis confirmation email as well as on our website at ************************************************************************ by entering the renter's last name and the confirmation number.
We do confirm that the rental was issued an Intermediate SUV instead of the Compact Sedan that was reserved and the rental use did not exceed the mileage allotment from the reservation. A fuel audit upon return resulted in a charge of $10.88 for 1.1 gallons under a full tank; we apologize that the charges displayed on your finalized rental billing differed from what you were expecting.

1 starWent on a trip to ******* at the end of June and had a rental agreement booked for almost a year for one week for $488. We get to the counter at the airport and **** worked the counter and refused to give us the rental for the agreed price and was absolutely terrible the way he treated us swearing on us and even swore on my in laws who are seniors. We were stuck and had to pay over $2000 for the rental. We had to fight and claw to get our money back from Avis even though we had emails from them with our original agreement. It was the worst part of our trip dealing with Avis. Never again will any of our family members use Avis just terrible service!!!Avis Rent A Car

Rate structures are similar to airline pricing; our prices change depending on car availability, location popularity, and many other factors. This is why prices can fluctuate on a minute-to-minute basis. Unless its an advertised special offer, there generally isnt one set rate for a particular type of car, but rather a range of prices depending on the length and dates of your reservation. Even with special offers, the advertised rate usually applies to a limited supply of cars which varies daily by make and model at each location.
We do confirm the original booking was completed through Avis.com on September 28th and a modification was made on June 14th through a call to our Reservation team. When a modification is made to the reserved use or renter information, a currently available rate is applied. We apologize if this was not more clearly conveyed at the time of the reservation modification; our records reflect that the original reserved rate was honored and a refund of the additional charge was submitted on July 11th by our **************** team.
There is never a reason for any representative of Avis to be rude or disrespectful to customers and we apologize for the experience that you had. Your feedback has been relayed to the responsible managers for their further review to take correction action as needed.

1 starAVIS CAR RENTAL ***************** Avis is charging me a $150 cleaning fee for a car I recently rented, saying the interior was excessively *****. This was absurd, though I obviously cannot disprove their claim. I do typically take photos of my rentals but I did not have photos proving because it was not *****. We went to a soccer tournament that week at ************. ********* is also known for ************* and coves. People come to ********* to be tourist to the area and go to these places. Some sand will be in the vehicle. Both myself and an Avis representative examined the car upon it's drop off, it was in good condition both interior and exterior, and the representative told me "everything looks good and point me family the way to the terminal" before I left. If he had any concerns, he should have let me know before I left, but he told me it was good, and I did not observe anything which required cleaning.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI was traveling to *******, ** and my flight was severely delayed. I called to let the rental company we had booked with know, and they said they would not be open. So we called Avis and they told me that they would be open, and to guarantee I had a car, I should go online and pre-pay. They assured me that if I pre-paid than the car would be there. I reached the airport, and NO car. And, they refused to give me immediate refund. They charged me the FULL $315 for the rental AND $300 hold. So $615 on my credit card yet NO car. I even got an e-mail saying the cancelled rental WAS NOT REFUNDABLE. How is that possible when THEY DIDN'T HAVE A CAR! What about the interest that is going to hit my credit card? 1 starMy contract was clear for $296 total, when I returned the car I was charged for $216 more, called them up, the person at the airport sneaked a damage fee for $30 at day, wish shows in the first contract I declined, plus I was charged $62for fill up gas and $15 fee, I returned the car with a full tank and the fee supposedly was wave by the person that received the car at airport, later, so$47 in gas, now way when I had just put a full tank, someone there stealing gas money and charging to customers, stealing from customers, on top of that, the car they gave me, the ac was leaking all the water inside and it had that problem for a few days probably and no one took care of it, I lost half of my day going to an airport to switch car, why a business do this to customers, hopefully I may get refund for the gas fraud they have, but not for the damage cover that they added for me, just because they cant,Avis Rent A Car
