1 starSCAM-Reserved a car online and paid for it fully. When I returned the car I got a bill for nearly $300 of charges I did not authorize. They charged me for a full tank of gas of which I used 4 gallons. When I spoke to a representative on the phone, they admitted to me they do that and would not make any adjustments even though I only used the car 101 miles. They also charged me for insurance and other fees I did not authorize. I did not need insurance and would have never accepted it as I am covered under one of three of my own insurance policies.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./****************,
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
Rental charges are based on the rental parameters provided in the reservation or based on any changes made by the customer at the time the contract is created at the rental counter. These contracts are signed by the customer at the time of ********************** so that by signing the rental agreement contract, the customer agrees to all of the ********************** charges and any potential costs associated with changes in your rental parameters. The costs associated with any changes in the rental parameters are also outlined on the written contract. If a customer does not agree with the contract details presented at time of rental, it is the due responsibility of the renter to request clarification and correction prior to departing the location with the rental agreement and vehicle.
We are sorry that the charges displayed on your finalized rental billing differed from what you were expecting. We have reviewed your rental agreement and based on the rental parameters that were agreed to, we find the rental charges to be correct as billed.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.
Sincerely,
Avis Budget Group

1 star6 days ago NEW NEVER, NEVER EVER GOING TO RENT FROM **** car rental company. BAD Experience after another, when I first picked up the car, I do not know if it was a cashier by the unprofessionalism or a manager hired off the streets.Furthermore,I had to set down about for 5 minutes to wait until he was finished talking to someone that appeared to be a customer or friend because all they was talking about ***** and the shooter that got killed even after the person paperwork was completed and given to the person. Then to make matters worse, I left from *********** at 2pm on Friday to be at the car rental by 5, but traffic was horrible. When I got there it was around 5:48pm and was already closed with no drop box. I had a family emergency in ******** and would not be back til Monday. Therefore, I called the ***** number posted in the front door for assistance and the said the locations in the area was closed and I am still responsible for the car and cant leave the keys inside the car. However, I had no choice but to take the keys with me to ********. On Saturday I called Cherry ***************** the lady who pickup the phone was very nasty and rude, when I explained to her what had happened and she stated I should have ****** for another area. When asked then why you have a 1800 number on your front door to call and they give me wrong information stating that the **** on that area are close at 5. What happened next the lady their hangup the phone on me. Another worker hired off the streets with no customer service experience it looks like no one there has been trained on customer service. To, then get charged an extra 115 dollars just for having the keys, due to wrong information for the company toll free number. Never again will stick with Enterprise there customer service is always great never had a bad experience. *** the MANAGER is ***** and need to be fired.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./********************,
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
We are sorry to hear about the experience at the *************** ***** Avis location. Any inappropriate behavior that was encountered at the *** location will be addressed with the location management urgently. From here we will take any necessary steps to ensure your complaint is addressed, including through training, additional supervision, or remedial actions, as needed. Please note that this is an internal process and not something we can share with customers.
The *** location does not accept after hours returns and renters are responsible for returning the vehicle during hours of operation. While typically a location may choose to bill a key replacement fee, starting at $350.00, if keys are not with the vehicle, the *** management team opted to leave the rental open until the keys were returned as a more cost-effective option for the customer. We have removed the additional hour billed in recognition of the wait time picking up the vehicle, however as the keys were not returned until July 22nd, we do find the billed charges to be appropriate.
Sincerely,
Avis Budget Group

1 starI rented a car in ********** AL & drove to ********** KY & dropped off at the airport. The car was picked up on 6/22/24 at noon and wasn't used again until 6/23 when we loaded our suitcases. We drove 5 hours, picked up my mom & went immediately to the airport dropping off before 11am on 6/23/24. Of course, I took photos of the outside of the car where I saw any damage. The inside of the car seemed fine. Normal wear and tear, but nothing out of the ordinary. When we dropped the car off, the agent who checked it said it looked "good to go". I even returned it with more gas than when I picked it up. Two weeks later I got a letter saying the car was returned dirty & I was being charged $450 in cleaning fees. I called customer service and asked why, since we had the car for less than 24 hours & only used it to transport 3 people/3 suitcases to the airport. We didn't even eat or drink in it. The agent told me that there was pet hair in the car. I don't own a pet. He emailed me the report with the photos and there was the faintest amount of white hair in the trunk, barely noticeable. They also sent photos of small stains on the upholstery that were old and worn into the fabric. I explained that I don't have any pets & didn't bring animals in the vehicle, & the stains were old and we didn't even notice them. I was told that because I didn't have interior photos I would still be charged. But I didn't receive the letter until 2 weeks after drop off and any photos I had were deleted. I thought I was "good to go". I have private travel insurance that covers rental & additional coverage through my credit card, but these things don't cover cleaning fees so I can't be reimbursed. I asked for photos from earlier rentals because I know we didn't make a mess. I asked for photos of the cleaned car. They refused both requests. I didn't have this problem with Enterprise on my return trip.Avis may be cheaper up front, but they really hit you after you can do anything about it.Avis Rent A Car

1 starIf *********************** location is truly affiliated with the Avis Corporate, they should close it ASAP. Had a reservation ahead of the scheduled pickup. First issue, I gave them a US drivers license and the credit card on file and they asked for a passport as well which I have not brought with me. I showed them all Avis confirmations I have received which indicate to bring DL and credit card only. Since they would not take an electronic copy of my passport and realizing I wont win this battle, I had someone drive to my home on the other side of ******** and bring me the passport an hour later while I waited outside in the sun. Second issue after I presented them with a passport they had asked for ****** euros security deposit since I waived their insurance. Acknowledging that I have my own insurance including thru the credit card I used here they insisted they run my credit card for a security deposit for the price of the entire vehicle or purchase their own. I showed them that this was not disclosed in any earlier communication I received from Avis US which I have been a member of for a couple of decades, but it did not matter to them. They ran 3 separate credit cards for this security deposit and all three transactions were declined for fraud reasons - try to pull a single transaction for this amount in an Eastern European country sure raises flags with my banks. Finally, I picked up all my documents and went to a Hertz counter where I was treated with respect that a customer deserves, got a brand new vehicle of a larger glass than Avis for slightly more money and only a $500 security deposit. Done with my problems and done with Avis forever.Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./********************,
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
Location policies are disclosed in reservation confirmation emails as well as on our website at ******************************************************************* do provide that in addition to a driver's license, renters are expected to bring a debit or credit card for payment authorization (some vehicles require two payment cards in the name of the renter and one must be a credit card,) and a photo ID featuring a recognisable photo taken in the last 10 years (we will accept your passport or driving licence if it contains a photo, a national identity card or any other form of government-issued identification.)
Customers who decline coverage will be required to make an additional security hold to be released at the completion of the rental after vehicle inspection; any damages will be paid for with the security hold.
While we understand this information may have been overlooked, however we are not able to make exception to these requirements.

1 starI wish there was a way to give negative stars. Our rental car tire went flat about 30 miles outside of ***********. There was no spare in the car, and when we looked at the tire itself, we could see signs of dry rot.We contacted Avis and they provided a tow for their car, but left us stranded on the side of the road in the desert. The tow truck driver took pity on us and gave my husband a ride to the airport, where he picked up a replacement vehicle and raced back to retrieve myself and our children from outside the gas station (which had no running water) where we had been sitting for 4 hours. However the NEW car Avis rented to us had some sort of mechanical malfunction. It literally stalled on the freeway as my husband approached the gas station where we were. We got the car running again. The check engine light was on, but it would drive, so we limped our way back to the ******************* to swap it for yet another car. Before we arrived, the car did stall one more time, and we had to pull to the side of the freeway in downtown *********** and get it to work again. In total, the whole ordeal took over 6 hours, and we spent much of that time uncomfortable and unsafe, due to the poor condition of the two vehicles AVIS rented to us. We were on the phone with countless AVIS customer service reps through the process but they did nothing to help. Their indifference was maddening. We had decided to sort of put the experience behind us, but yesterday, we received a bill for $139 to replace their dry-rot damaged tire! The fact that Avis would attempt to charge us for any part of the Albuquerque fiasco is stunning. As far as Im concerned, Avis should be refunding us for completely ruining the last day of our vacation. We didn't even arrive at the hotel wed planned to enjoy that evening until 2AM the next morning. Needless to say, were not paying for the damaged tire, and we will never be renting from Avis again.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI cancelled our car rental due change in our plans ( I cancelled 2 days prior). They said they would issue a refund minus $50.00 no biggie as our rental was $1358.99. As promised the money was pending in my account for 3 days and I look tonight lo and behold to only find out they took it back. I look again in my email and click to see that they said that I cancelled the day after I was scheduled to pickup which is a BIG FAT LIE cause I have my receipts and screen shots of when I cancelled the day I cancelled and the email of them saying I would get my refund. They kept my money and I am ****** off. If i dont get my money I may have to get legal advise.Avis Rent A Car

We do confirm that the reservation was canceled on July 20th. While our automated prepayment system typically processes adjustments within 3-5 days of a submission, it can take up to 10 business days (or 14 calendar days) in some cases. The refund will reflect on your account by August 3rd or sooner; regretfully, we cannot expedite this process.

1 starFirst off we reserved a Van over 2 months ago for a long trip to ***********, **. When we arrived on Sunday after driving 1 hour were told no van was available until the next day. So we started our trip a day late. On the way back we stopped in ************* for dinner. The way the tire was positioned it caught my eye that the entire middle part of the tire was balding and also chunks of the tire were missing. We were fortunate enough to be close to a hotel and airport to do an exchange. Having lost an entire night of driving we asked the ************** where we were to return the vehicle if they could waive the late fee if we didn't make it back by 8:00 am. They refused to agree and when my wife was explaining why and what happened the manager became extremely rude and started talking over her, like a bully. This office and the people that work there are useless and should be avoided at all cost.See pictures of the tire and tell me that this would happen after driving ***** miles if it wasn't already junk.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with the service I received from AVIS on July 20th. I rented a **** Mustang Mach-E from the *************** at 8:50 AM. After a mere 25-minute drive to *********, I was appalled to discover that the car had only 9% charge remaining. This is not only unacceptable but also dangerous.I immediately sought out a nearby car charging station and attempted to contact AVIS customer care. To my dismay, they were absolutely no assistance. I was left with no choice but to pay out of pocket to charge the vehicle, wasting 1.5 hours of my time stranded on the side of the road. This entire ordeal was not only inconvenient but also entirely avoidable had AVIS provided a properly charged vehicle.I eventually dropped the car off at the ********* AVIS center by 11:32 AM and the vehicle did not fulfill any of its intended purposes. Due to AVIS's gross negligence in providing a vehicle without sufficient charge, I was stranded on the road, and others were left waiting for me. Despite this egregious inconvenience and failure of service, I was still charged $66.13 for this appalling experience. This situation is utterly unacceptable. I demand immediate reimbursement for the $66.13 charge and compensation for the time, stress, and inconvenience caused by AVIS's failure to ensure their vehicles are adequately charged and ready for use. AVIS's lack of support and responsibility in this matter is inexcusable, and I urge you to rectify this situation promptly to restore any faith I might have had in your company.Reservation number: 03140141US4Avis Rent A Car

Dear Mr./******************,
Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
We are sorry to hear that the vehicle you received did not have a full charge. In some cases, vehicles are returned with less than a full charge and may be rented again before they can be taken to a charging station. We do recommend verifying battery life, mileage, and the vehicle condition prior to departing the rental location so that any issues can be documented and incorrect entries can be corrected.
We do confirm that the rental was returned shortly after checkout and all charges were reversed in full on July 23rd.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

1 starI paid over 800 bucks a month ago for a van. We show up today at noon to pick it up at what looks like an abandon building and was told this Avis doesn't have anymore cars for the day, they are closed, and the cars they do have are for people tomorrow who made reservations a month ago. I told the woman that I did in fact make a reservation a month ago and paid ahead and asked why she was saving cars for people tomorrow when a paid customer needs that exact vehicle today. She told me to NEVER pay ahead at any rental company, and that she couldn't give me the van sitting outside. She offered no other help and I had to ask how I am supposed to get my money back. She then gave me a pamphlet with a customer service number that didn't work, so I had to search for customer service online and figure out how to speak to an actual person about a refund. I have never ever ever in my life seen a company run this way or been treated that way and I have rented plenty of cars in the past. I am 100% sure that this place is a scam. I have a disabled child who needs a van to transport her wheelchair stroller along with everything else we needed to go on a vacation for the first time in years and now we are left scrambling to find a car the day before we are supposed to leave.Avis Rent A Car
