      I booked a car for cross-country. They gave me an electric vehicle. I told him that was not going to work. They were not able to honor my reservation so it was canceled on August 13. Todays August *************************************************** I hope to have it by September 4. I asked to speak to a supervisor which I didnt because I was put on hold for 20 minutes and the operator came back and told me that I could continue to hold but theyre gonna tell me the same thing. Horrible business practices made completely catastrophically worse with bad ***************** I will walk before I ever ring Avis bell again.

      I rented a car from August 15 to August 25. On August 20, I was out of town driving the car. There was a leak in the radiator, which I couldn't continue driving because the car got hot. I was on the road for 4 hours until The tow truck arrived, we proceeded to rent a car for another vehicle, when we arrived they informed us that I had to make another contract, which I refused, I still had six more days left on my current contract. In addition, the new contract would be paying more than my current contract with all payment in my current contract they refused to give me another vehicle which left me without a vehicle they left me completely abandoned imagine a foreigner in a country he doesn't know without more money or options totally unacceptable avis rent car ********************************

      I have rented cars from Avis for years and just rented a car from Avis from the *****************. They have just sent me a letter stating that I was going to be charged an extra $125 for returning the car with excessive soilage. I contacted their customer care team and they sent me the photos of the front floor and trunk mats. All three did in fact have sand on them as we went to beaches in ********* area. I've just never before in my entire life been charged extra for having sand on floor mats upon returning a car from a rental car company. Everyone might want to be aware that Avis is charging quite a bit to vacuum three floor mats. You might want to clean your rental car from them before you return it.

      Renters are expected to return the car in the same condition they received it in. If a car is returned to us with trash, pet hair, dirt or sand, stains, or other soilage residue that a customer leaves behind, a location will bill up to $450.00 to clean the car so that it can be rented again. We understand you may not agree with this policy, but this is the expense associated with restoring the car after your use. 

      Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

      I waited over two hours in the sun with a toddler and two elderly grandparents for my rental in ******. It was a terrible start to my vacation and dangerous for my family due to the heat. Avis had my reservation but we ended up waiting 2 hours for the car to be cleaned in the heat in the middle of August. Upon returning the car receive an email 5 days later that i will be charged a $125 cleaning fee for excessive sand. When I called to contest the charge the customer service *** tells me that this is valid as there is sand in the car from the images and the rental agreement states the car should be vacuumed before returning. I pull out the rental agreement and that is not the case it says a cleaning fee will be charges for excessive dirt. It appears that the excessive fee is charged at the discretion of the location. And I wasnt informed nor agreed to the fee upon returning the car. It seems the cleaning fee is a way for Avis to tack on additional hidden fees after the rental return.

      I've been a long time Avis customer, having rented with them dozens of times in the past few years. I take great care of my rental cars and have never had any issues.Unfortunately, this past rental, I was charged a ridiculous $450 cleaning fee for minimal amounts of pet hair. I even asked the Avis return support member if I can just use a piece of paper to wipe away the small amounts of hair. They denied this request, saying unfortunately this is not possible and they will need to charge me $450... This is an exorbitant fee for a few pieces of pet hair and something that could've been easily avoided had they let me quickly clean it off. This behavior feels absolutely unacceptable.

      2x now, AVIS/BUDGET have attempted to dupe me when renting from BWI and returning to PHL. Attempting to charge me nearly 2x the reserved amount. I feel their staff is attempting to take advantage of travelers that are tired/frustrated after weather related flight delays. They tried to offer 'reasons' the price was different. "Oh, its mileage" No. I reserved unlimited miles. "Oh, it's taxes". Double the original reservation?. "Oh, it must be the one way rental". That's what my reservation reflects. After being pressured, the young clerk "remembered" how to manually enter an amount. He got it 'close' to the original reservation. I believe these are deceptive practices trying to take advantage of desperate people who NEED their vehicle.

      We have checked our records and show that your reservation was booked for 9 days with and estimated balance of $754.97. We show at the time of return you were billed $754.97 which matched your reservation. Our **************** Team did issue a credit of $133.20 on August 19th, 2024, as a gesture of good will bringing your charges down to $621.77. We do apologize but again, we do not show that you were billed anything outside of your original reservation amount.

      I have a corporate account. When my Pilot (***************************) picked up the car in Jackson *** seven seven five one three six eight three two. Unfortunately, the vehicle issued smelled like Marijuana. After speaking to the front desk they told us they only had one and they would make sure we are not charged for the cleaning. They wrote "Smells Like WEED" on the receipt. ******** drove from ** to **. He called me and told me he was leaving the car at our office in ******* and he would not get back in it because he felt sick. I called the location and was told that I should return the car. I explained that since no one is willing to drive the car because of the implications of pilots smelling like marijuana, that I would do it as soon as I could. I was assured that the account was noted. As I went to return it- I was told the bill was now $1447.85. I explained the situation and was told to call customer service. After speaking to CS I was told nothing could be done. I asked politely to speak with a supervisor. I got ****** *****. She would not accept anything that happened because she said there are no notes. I explained I had a receipt that said Weed smell etc.. I spend thousands of dollars weekly with our business account and have never had an issue like this. I am willing to pay the original rental but clearly this situation was beyond our control. I had to return the car myself. To be told that I should have refused the rental or had it towed back after the fact does not help me. If that is company policy -Why wasn't I told when I was calling to resolve this? We have rented many cars with Avis. I have never been treated this poorly. No willingness to resolve a bad situation. ***********************

      At *** now. Avs line is about 50 to 60 deep. The time is 12:15 a.m. There are two Avis employees on duty behind a counter with nine ststions. They are processing customers at a rate of one every 7 to 10 minutes. You do the math. This happens repeatedly with Avis.And not Just here. I waited over 2 hours at ************************** not roo long ago only to fond that I had to wait because they did not have any cars ready. Oh and here comes another large bus of customers. You get a grade of F **********************. Zero stars. Get your act together.

      I made a reservation on a car at *************** in **********. I informed them that I have the letter from my credit card to avoid insurance charge. The price was $234. I asked if there were other fees, they said no.I got to the airport and I had to wait outside with my son, to wait for a van to get to the Avis facility. We waited like 20 minutes then we got to Avis and they didnt even want to look at the letter from the credit card. They said that I have to purchase an insurance. I told them that my court was $234, they said that the price was $511 because I had to purchase an insurance. I was not in the airport anymore, where I can get other chores, I was far from all other companies. You get my business giving me false information. From the office , I called customer service and explained the situation, that the price was double of what they told me and that they made me buy an insurance. **************** *** told me , dont worry, we will fix that for you. They shouldnt make you pay any extra.So we left with the car. I also made a second call, and they assured me that they will reimburse me for the extra, that was going to take some time , but they will fix it.I just got an email from them stating that they wont reimburse me.Avis gave me false information four times.If that is the policy in ********** , you should know better, Im sure Im not the only customer renting a car in **********. You should include that on the price you gave me or you should rescpect the price you gave me originally.

      No star should be an option!!! You would think if a company requires a physical credit card it would be stated somewhere!!! I prepaid for my rental vehicle in full before my flight. Yet they wouldnt take the same card I used to pay for the vehicle. I need a vehicle for my trip and now I have to use Lyft or one of the other ride shares, with large luggage that often doesnt fit in other peoples cars. Terrible customer service, the manager at the airport wouldnt help and the front desk people seemed to get pleasure when telling me they wont accept my debt card. Everyone agreed theres no verbiage about having a physical cc, yet there was nothing anyone wanted to do to help my situation. I will use any other company beside Avis from here on out. Unacceptable, unprofessional and completely useless!!!

      We do disclose that the same credit or debit card used to complete an online Pay Now reservation must be presented at the rental pick-up counter as a form of identification. At airport locations, proof of a return airline ticket is also required when using a debit card. This information is found when clicking the Prepay Policies highlight in the "I have read and accept the Prepay Policies and Rental Terms and Conditions , and understand that this rate is prepaid." section before completing a reservation on our website. We apologize that overlooking this policy resulted in the rental being denied.
