We pay quarterly for GFL, the Fairburn branch, to service two bins. On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, only one bin was managed. We called GFL to inform them of the error, and they stated the bins were too close to be picked up. They picked up one but not the other. If they were too close, how could they pick up the first bin? After many conversations, they said the bin would be serviced the following week. We expressed concern that the bin will be over full due to not being picked up on the current week. We asked to have a manager call us. They said someone would call within 24/48 hours. No one ever called.The following week (today), Wednesday, January 11, 2023, the bin was again not serviced. Immediately I called GFL to inform them. The sanitation trucks were still in the area. They had just left our street. I asked if they were going to come back and service the bin. A representative called back to say they would come back to service the bin since they were still in the area. After a few hours, I noticed the bin had not been serviced. I called back, and a different representative stated they were waiting to hear back from "Operations." I informed the representative I would like a call from a manager. She said it would be 24/48 hours.Business Response

I canceled the service with GFI waste management after they never one time picked up my garbage.I had already payed for there service [******] this was in August and at that time was told that the money was in the mail. GFL Environmental signed me up without contract, credit card or contract and started billing me even though I have only had another service with another company. I have tried to call them and they don't take my call for hours I am on hold. They have no email address either. They have barely a 2 star rating. This is one of the reasons why I wouldn't ever consider them. They keep adding service charges to my bill and there is no way to reconcile this.Business Response

It seems like there was miscommunication with the Husband and wife. He called to set up services on 9/16 and the wife called to confirm that services were set up on 9/27. I did cancel the account and cleared the balance.

Trash from the recycle bin was all over ver my yard . I have pics if you need to see them . This happen in the morning of 1/13/2023. This is uncalled for . No need to apologize thats not gonna solve the issues . Maybe retrain certain employees that dont know how to the job.Business Response

I did not receive trash pick December 23rd or December 30th. When I called regarding the 23rd I was told the driver did complete the route however neither mine or my neighbors was picked up and it was out the evening prior. I was told I would be allowed extra pick up on the 30th. Trash was not pick up on the 30th either. I was told this time the driver could not complete the route because of icy conditions. The road was not covered in ice on the 30th. We had bad weather on the 23rd so that is the day I would have expected an issue, not on the 30th. When I spoke with customer service I was told they would credit me for those 2 days as I had paid a neighbor cash to take my trash along with his to the dump. Now, *************************************** ***************** Rep) is telling me they will not credit me without a receipt from the dump. I would think it is illegal to charge for services that were not provided and additionally after being told I would be credited it's poor business practice to go back on their word that they would credit me.Business Response

Hello. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. After reviewing your account we have placed a credit of $8.75 for December 2022 non service. We bill on the 15th of each month and the credit may not post in time so you can deduct $8.75 from the invoice.

Trash removal service, GFL Environmental, has not picked our trash in my condominium complex in a month. I have made 15 calls to GFL, and if I am able to get through to speaking to a person, they assure me that the trash will be picked up that day. Recently, I have been transferred to North Carolina as GFL stated that their Colorado operations are over loaded. The NC site gives us the same answer, and there still has been no trash pick up. Lately, GFL has been just hanging up on any calls that are inquiring about service. Mind you, we are still paying our fees to GFL, which means in essence, they are stealing from us. GFL still states, through a myriad of excuses, that they will be out there today to pick up a months worth of trash. To this date 1-11-2023 they have not. I believe it is becoming more of a company teetering on financial collapse.Business Response

I had this service until 2019, I owed them $50, I even have a email from last summer of them telling me that is all I owe. Then I get a letter from a collection company saying I owe over $400 for this service, I then logged into my account and see all these bills for months after I ended my service. I contacted them and they are refusing to remove all these charges.Business Response

We are unable to remove invoices from customers online accounts. However, it is noted in our system that the only balance owing is $50.00. Once the balance due is paid, it will be reported to the collections agency and a closure letter will be sent to the customer.

We (********* *********** ***) have a contract with GFL Environmental and they have unreasonably increased charges and are requiring us to pay either increased charges or liquidated damages of $3460.65. The contract we signed effective 1/1/2022 was for $200 per month with 20% fees for a total of $240 per month for twice a week waste removal of one dumpster.
The contract is a 5-year contract which states (in the fine print) that they can increase charges for various reasons; but in all essence, they can increase with no limit for whatever reason they choose including deciding they want more profit margin on their accounts. There is a clause in there that allows the customer to object within 30 days of receiving invoice with new charges if they do so in writing. GFL also has the option to terminate the agreement if they so choose.
We have notified GFL via email, and certified mail that we do not accept the increases. They increased from $240 to $313.70 for December and then to $384.42 for January. All for the same level of service in one year’s time.
******** ***** is the Account Manager and she disregarded the part on the contract we signed where it said to only charge 20% fees. Fees have increased to 58% (over $100 on the bottom line) while basic service has increased 22%.
******** ***** is stating that we have to pay the increased charges according to the agreement and ignoring the fact that we abided by the contract and submitted written objection (second page of contract under “CHARGES & PAYMENT”).
This agreement seems very one-sided in favor of GFL (a large publicly traded company) and appears to take advantage of the customer. It borders on a monopoly as well with only one other competitor in the area providing this type service.Business Response

The last signed contract that I have with GFL shows a monthly amout of $131.43. They sent me a new contact in July last year that I refused to sign as the prices were continually going up with the surcharges they were charging. After the bill as nearly trippled I cancelledl the service. The account Rep I talked to only sent me emails and would not cancel the services until I agreed to sign a form that said I would have to pay a cancelation fee but would not tell me how much this was she just emailed me back and told me she would get someone to do this total and send it to me but I never got it until I got the bill and it was over a $2000 charge. This is highway robbery for a dumpster that they picked up and will be taking elsewhere. The customer service has been awful and for my regular monthly bill to be $340 + a month an not be able to cancel without this ridiculous charge is why this company has the complaints that they have. This should be not be a legal practice. You got your dumpster back and still want to charge me 6 months rental and the average of all the extra surcharges that I truly believe I have been overcharged for all along., Especially after reading the complaints I am seeing and the much lower fees than I have been charged. I do have the full email conversation printed with ****** ******* and the poor service she gave as she should could not be bothered with picking up the phone to return my call. She also did not send me the estimate of this cost as she said she would do either. I am requesting an adjustment to my bill as I should have been told in advance what this fee was going to be and should have been given a full explanation of this.Business Response

On 12/21 or 12/22 not sure exact date, my kids witnessed a GFL truck come to the end of our street and take my garbage can and then leave a bright green GFL recycle bin. I do NOT have garbage service Thru GFL and now have no garbage container since they took my van without my permission . My garbage service will not pick up my garbage in a GFL recycle bin and I'm left to put my trash out in bags for animals to tear through! I have been calling GFL for since 12/22 to get my garbage can back with promise that a "supervisor" will be contacted and take care of it, nothing has happened as of 1/9/23 after 4calls. I have talked to Lou and audrey and two other people with no resolution. I want my garbage can back !Business Response
