I pay for garbage and recyclable pickup 3 months in advance. It includes garbage pickup once a week and recyclable pickup every other week. We (our entire development) have not had our recyclables picked up since August 11. Therefore, we now have over a month's worth of recyclables sitting at the curb. I have called several times to resolve this issue. In August I was told to take our recyclables ourselves to the box site. I took some there to make room in my receptacle and was given a credit to my account. I am not looking for any more credits, I want the service I have paid for, which includes service until the end of November. As of September 11, my recyclables are still sitting at the curb. Our next scheduled pickup is September 22. I have been told someone will contact me. No one has contacted me. One customer service member told me that it shows that our neighborhood was completed.....it was not. I am very frustrated. Calling and complaining does not seem to work. I just want the service I paid for!Business Response

We have been customers of ********************** for several years. In the past 2 months there has been a rapid decline of services rendered. We pay every 3 months for trash collection on Tuesday. Lately its been occurring after multiple calls and days later. The most recent was a missed week entirely, now bleeding into 2 weeks. Our last collection was 8-28, and we are told daily by the local office we will be there today only for today to pass by and our trash to remain uncollected. They now are not answering calls, and hanging up on people instead of providing response to lack of pick up. We received an automated call Tuesday the 9th stating theyd be here today the 10th, after not showing up they told us by 7:30 Pm today on the 10th. Its now 8 pm, no collection again. Our entire road is being affected by this and the lack of professionalism in this matter is ridiculous. There is trash piled up along the roadways as we await service we have paid for!Business Response

Since moving into our new home in June GFL has missed trash pickup at least 6 different times. I call in and am assured they will send someone out to "recover", and no one ever shows up. We are paying for a service and are not receiving consistent service, and there is never any follow up or follow through after speaking with their customer service team.Business Response

Per the manager at this customer's branch, GFL will continue to provide trash and recycling services as scheduled. Please remember that your trash and recycling carts are serviced separately on Mondays, and your trash is serviced on Thursdays.
To ensure our drivers can service your home safely and efficiently, we will continue to document any obstructions that prevent service. This includes, but isnt limited to:
- ********************************************* vehicles
- Carts that are too close to each other or to other objects, such as a mailbox
Our automated service trucks require a minimum of 4 feet of clearance for the claw to operate safely. Our records show that all services were completed without any issues this past Monday, September 8th, and Thursday, September 11th.Initial Complaint

GFL Environmental *** will not allow the cancellation of services. On their website they list no method of cancelling. Instead, they ask a request to be submitted. After three requests, I have not reeived a response to my request. Upon trying to call, I was transferred and left on a hold line. Our contract renews every three months. After choosing not to renew the contract, our bill was sent to collections.Business Response

I am filing a complaint against GFL Environmental regarding undisclosed charges and extremely poor customer service during my cancellation process.When I attempted to cancel my waste collection service, it took me over a week to get in touch with someone. I spent over an hour on hold once I was finally able to reach a representative, and several of my email attempts went completely unanswered. Despite all of this time and effort, at no point was I informed that there would be a charge for the collection of GFLs cans.This fee was not disclosed in my service agreement, on the website, or by the customer service representative during my cancellation call. I only became aware of the charge after the cancellation was processed, which I find misleading and unacceptable.I do not believe I should be held responsible for paying a fee that was never properly communicated to me in writing or verbally. I respectfully request that this charge be waived and that GFL address its lack of transparency and responsiveness so that other customers are not placed in the same situation.Business Response

We have been at the address since 7/1/25 and placing both our trash bin every week with our recycling bin placed at the row of the mobile park also every other week.Have not had an issue until 8/18/25 as pick up is Mondays, after the pick up both bins were left completely on their sides knocked over, with one being a bit into the row and the other looking flung off on our grass further. I am not understanding the communication since I have tried simply to find out what happened and why they were left like this and I have not been successful. Being new to the address although there was no issue for about 6 weeks, I tried calling the branch where the drivers come from and I left a message. Someone named ***** called and sounded very young and not concerned at all that they were left like this. Even further, he asked if we place them with the handles facing the home and we do not. But nobody here does so. He said this would eliminate them getting caught on the machine. Again, there are other homes here and nobody places them with the handles facing the home. We have lived in *** and also never had this happen so honestly it just does not make sense. It was difficult in this case then to determine who ***** is at this place of business and if he was the best professional person to address the matter with the drivers. An email came in response from the online complaint submission from a *** who on her own said that the bins should not have been left that way without checking. The *** said she would forward the matter to the branch manager and there has been no contact received since. It is odd that a managing supervisor can not just ask the drivers why they did not notice and how both bins were problematic vs. one if there even was an issue, which we also have not clearly determined.Initial Complaint

i am 81 yrs old and have lived at my current address since 1979. we have had numerous garbage collectors and i have had no problems until this year with gfl environmental. we are scheduled for pickup on tuesdays. they never come on tuesday so our garbage containers sit in front of our houses from monday afternoon until wednesday or thursday. when i talk with them they say they have equipment problems. the latest problem was last month when a freezer went out and we had to use an extra container to put it in. when they came, they did not take the extra container. i called them and they said they would send someone to pick it up. they never did even after i called them again. it sat in front of my house for another week. because it was thawed out food, the smell was horrible. we even had buzzards show up. i taped the container closed and put a sign on it to throw away the container as well and not to open it. then, the week of august 18, my dog got out accidentally and the garbage collector yelled at me, but i was not sure what he said. i went out there, and he told me to keep my **** dog inside. i told him it was an accident and he yelled at me again to keep my dog inside. then they threw the extra container into a tree located in the center of court. i called the office and reported this. then the week of aug 25, they skipped picking up my garbage even though they picked up all the others. i called the office on aug 27 to let them know that they had skipped me because of what happened the week before. she said she would schedule another pick up which as of aug 29 had not happened. i called the office again on aug 29 and she had requested operations to pick it up. she said she would tell them again but as of today, aug 30, they have not picked it up and i am pretty sure they will not come until next wed or whatever day they decide to come next week. this sort of thing happens because i cant do anything about it. i cant dispose of it myself.Business Response

I wish to be contacted by the company as I have a complaint about the services rendered. Recently got a bill and once again the company has increased the price. Every bill Ive received from you guys since you bought the previous company has shown a price increase. You now only have one driver instead of two and they rush to get the trash. Ive seen trash cans tipped over or in the street. Recently once again your driver has damaged the trash can. Theres a whole in the can and also the lid is gone again. Why do I as a customer have to wait 2-3 business days for you guys send out someone to fix it when it only took the driver minutes to damage it. At this point I will be looking for better services because the money spent is not getting good service from you guys. For a three month service I expect more especially when you guys charged less than $100 in the beginning.Business Response

My father passed away in February of 2025. We reported his death and were told we would be getting a refund of approximately $60. We have not received a refund. We've called and were told they are stillworking on the refund. I've recently tried calling, no one answers nor are they returning my call. My garbage was not picked up again and my trash can was not repaired or replaced. I filed for a support ticked for missing my pick up again and did not get a response. This has happened several times. I have also filed a support ticked to get my old style can repaired (broken wheel). I was told it would be repaired but still broken. I was also told my old style can would be replaced. I just filed a second support ticket because I have no more room to place garbage.Business Response
