Since September, 2023, the trash compactor at ****************************************, Primavera Apartments have been malfunctioning. Trash several times have been line up on the entrance walk way and now toxic fumes and odors are coming from this malfunctioning trash compactor. It makes it impossible for me to dispose of my trash because the fumes from the decaying matter is too much and affects my breathing. I have called several times but no one will return my call. Management, CMC, at Primavera Apartments states that the problem is with this companyBusiness Response

I decided to cancel my service with GFL Newport on June 28 before the start of the new quarter. They agreed and told me to leave my trash cans by the road to be collected. My account was never cleared of the upcoming quarter balance and have been sent collection notices twice. I have called every week for almost 2 months needing an explanation as to why my cans have yet to be picked up and why I still had a balance on my account. The only run around I get is that Im on the schedule to have cans picked up but each week goes by and nothing. When asked about my balance and the collection letters, I was told it was a mistake on the billing department. *** called and asked to speak with a supervisor, they cant/wont transfer me and told me they could call me back, I have never heard from them. I simply want my trash cans removed from my property after I cancelled two months ago and my balance cleared. If this continues to sit , it will be attached to my credit report for a mistake on their end. Im at a loss of words to this business and I dont even know how to proceed.Business Response

I emailed GFL waste to cancel my service on July ******* and received an email back confirming service would end on July 18th and trash can will be picked up on July 25th, trash can was picked up on date stated and my credit card was charged for another quarter after canceling service. July 25th and 27th I emailed the office and got no response, then called customer service on July 29th and spoke to a lady about the refund and she state its already being processed. Three weeks and still no refund. I would like my refund back on my credit card and any late fees that will occur if not refunded by August *******. This is unacceptable to charge for service after agreement to cancel service.Business Response

My yard waste trash was not picked-up. Yard waste was set out Tuesday night for wedsday pickup. All other were taken care of. Proper marked container snd bags were used.Business Response

I have been a customer of GFL for several years, however my most recent lay-off put me in a financial bind. This is the first time I've had my trash bins removed. My complaint isn't about how badly I was treated by GFL during my times of financial difficulties but their willful misleadings and deceptive business pratices.After my trash bins were removed on, Friday, July 26 2024. I discovered that I PAID the ENTIRE BALANCE (including the $5.00 late fee) the week PRIOR (July 15, 2024) to the removal of the trash bins. The Most Recent Statement dated July 1st, 2024 states, "To Avoid late fees and Service interruption, payment must be received...". I immediately contacted GFL about the circumstances and told them that my records from my bank reflected a payment clearing my account on July 15, then the customer service associate stated that my ******************** were Already terminated as of June 30, 2024. My first question was if my service was terminated then why wasn't I informed because the most recent correspondence dated for the next day reflects" To Avoid interruption". Then I received no other forms of communications informing me that the service is terminated and the trash bins will be removed on July 27, *************************************************** not. Secondly it's very disingenuous to cancel someone's waste management services when GFL has repeatedly missed trash pickups (4 times in the last year), offers no proration of the quarterly billing charges and at least one time never rescheduled the pickup of our neighborhood's waste. GFL made us wait until the following Friday which was our regularly scheduled pickup and still offered no proration of billing charges. I've called both the local and corporate offices to voice my concerns I was told that there was no one I could speak to me above the supervisor I was communicating with at that time. I called the corporate office I was told that I would receive a call back. It's now been 2 weeks & no return call.Business Response

After 45 days of payment not received, a late notice is sent via physical mail reminding the customer to make a payment. After 55 days, a phone call is made to the customer to remind of any overdue balance and to request payment. After 65 days of no payment received, the customer's account is placed on hold. The customer did not make payment towards their overdue balance until 105 days later, resulting in the cancellation of the account for nonpayment. I have requested that a supervisor call the customer back as soon as possible to discuss the information above. We just want our trash cans. It has been over a month since we requesting services and moved into our house and we still have not received our trash cans. A week before we were supposed to receive the trash cans, I called and confirmed that we would receive them by the promised date. That date has come, and with not receiving them by evening time, I called once again and was told that I would receive them by 7:30, of which came and went with no delivery. We are tired of having to take our trash to the dump. We are paying for a service that we are not receiving. Yes, we were given the option to just leave our trash bags, but with the amount of animals we live near, these bags would be victim to the animals. Yes, we will be calling the next day to get another status update. BUT regardless when you give a customer a date and confirm it twice, you EXPECT to receive the service promised. All we ask for are trash cans. That is all we want. And it should not be this difficult to receive them.Business Response

We are still receiving invoices for The ***** Apartments, despite not managing the property for the past four months. Despite monthly communications with your billing department, we continue to be billed for services rendered to another company. I was advised by a postcard call via GFL Environmental that residential trash service day would be Thursday starting June 3, 2024.My trash has not been picked up in the last three (3) weeks. My dumpster has remained at the foot of my driveway since that time. I have made repeated calls to the *** over the last two weeks to get this resolved. I am rejecting this response because:My trash bill has been paid via an **************** card that has been on file with GFL. At not has payment on the account been a issue with the service. I was advised my service date would change from Wednesday to Thursday starting June 3rd. Since this time my trash has been pick up once. After repeated calls to their office with no results; I filed this complaint.
My trash was finally picked up this morning, Tuesdsay, August 13th after 3 plus weeks without service. Ironically, I was advised this morning that my trash would not be picked up until Thursday, August 15th.

The customer stated she had not been serviced in 3 weeks. The customer called and stated she was not serviced on 7/18/24. Her account was credited for the missed service. The customer called and stated that she was not serviced on 8/01/24. The customer opted for a credit instead of a pickup. She then called again stating she was missed on 8/08/2024 but the route was running a day behind. The driver did return on 8/09/24 and serviced everyone with containers curbside. As a courtesy we returned on 8/13/24 and serviced the customer and she should have been serviced again today, 8/15/24. This company should be shut down. Out of the last 16 weeks, they have come on the scheduled pickup day maybe 20% of the time. Our trash sits at the curb for days waiting for pick-up. No explanation is ever offered other than late pick-up. We are now in the middle of tropical ********************* and the pick-up is two days late. The weather on our scheduled pick-up date was FINE. Today, the can has blown over twice already. When I phoned customer service, the man I spoke to who was at the computer was as frustrated as I am. He was unable to contact the local office because their phones were shut off. When I asked for a price adjustment I was told late pick-up did not qualify. This company has a monopoly in our area, so I have absolutely no recourse. This is the worst company I have ever dealt withBusiness Response

We have had services with this company for 10 years. The past two weeks , they have picked up the trash at all our neighbors and skipped us .The truck comes almost to our house and then turns around and leaves the neighborhood.Countless emails and phone calls and the trash is still on the street.
