    I left ****** after two decades of service in Sept. 2021 due to fraudulent billing. I was sent to collection and PAID the full balance due $199.44 on Nov 17, 2021 to a different debt collector IC Systems. ****** then RE-ACTIVATED my account (which I had not been using for at least 2 months at this time) and sent me another bill. I refuse to pay for a service I didn't receive. Then Source Receivables Management gets its turn to be big bad debt collectors. They sent me a collections notice in early 2023 stating if I paid $74 the whole $159 would be cleared. I sent them a check for the $74 to end it all and move on. Two weeks later I receive a letter WITH MY CHECK telling me I didn't pay the full amount. I absolutely refuse to be jacked around with this non sense any longer. I was just hugely negatively impacted by this fraud hit on my credit report when closing on a new home. This shady business practice just cost me over $4k in extra interest because they drug my credit score down from mid 800s to upper 600s overnight. I want to seek compensation for damages and I want this made right with my current mortgage lender ASAP!

    Hi *******,

    Please find the response to BBB complaint ID ******** below. Attached is a zip file of invoices.

    Source Receivables Management has reviewed the consumer complaint. We are willing to settle this account for half, or $79.93 to close this account out. Payment can be made over the phone at 1-877-251-3775 or online at paysourcerm.com. The account number is ********.  We have also attached invoices for the consumer’s convenience.

    Thank you!

     I am rejecting this response because: this debt was paid in full on 11/17/21 to a different debt collection company. I stopped using ****** in Sept 2021. Once the debt was paid in Nov 2021 they erroneously reactivated my account and started billing me again for service I did not receive.

    One credit reporting agency (Experian) has already deleted this from my credit report and awaiting the other two to do the same. I close on a new mortgage next Monday and if this issue isn't taken care of by tomorrow I will have no choice but to get a credit report lawyer involved to recoup the extra $4000 this error has cost me.

    Original debt collection company was IC Systems Inc and I paid it $199.xx on 11/17/21 which should have been case closed on this ****** issue.

    This business is knowingly reporting that I owe a debt of $819 to a company that is no longer in business. Also after I requested a debt validation from this company I was told that the contract for the services that were purchased was signed before I was even old enough to legally sign a contract. I voiced this to this company and they were forced to delete this information. Now months later they are knowingly reporting the same information. I want this permanently deleted because it is defaming me and also negatively affecting my ability to obtain credit in my name.

    I am writing to dispute and request validation of the $1795 debt shown on my credit report by an original creditor of ******* bought by your company. I am not only questioning the validity of this debt, but I am also requesting proof that I am the person you are asking to pay it to. I need to understand how your company came to the conclusion that I am the party who owes this debt to the original creditor of ******* when I never had a ******* account. I am seeking documentation that proves the existence of an agreement or contract in relation to this debt.

    Not simply requesting "verification" or proof of my mailing address. Requesting actual proof that establishes the legitimacy of the debt as mine. Competent and factual evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay this debt to your company. I want to bring to your attention that if your offices continue to report invalidated information on my credit bureaus, it will constitute fraud under both federal and state laws. If any negative mark continues to be reported or is sold and put back on my credit report, I find out that the company you represent sold the debt, I will pursue legal action for fraud and defamation of character.

    If your offices are unable to provide me with the requested information, it not only entitles me to immediate removal from my credit report but also requires a complete cease-to-desist of the debt without the possibility of reselling it to another creditor under any circumstance, not now or in the future. If your company is able to provide me proof that in fact, it is my debt, I will require 30 days to conduct a thorough investigation upon receiving the proper documentation from your end.

    I urge your company to comply with my request for validation and provide me with the necessary documentation to establish the legitimacy of this debt. I expect a prompt response from your end, and I will take appropriate legal action if my rights are not respected.

    This is a collection agency who has placed a negative account on credit report for $324. This negative account is fraudulent. The account in question was with ******. My contract with them ended in December 2019, paid in full and terminated. ****** chose to continue billing fraudulent charges. This creditor was contacted multiple times of this error and they continued to bill for contract that had been cancelled. These conversations were recorded with ******. I have filed a complaint with Source Receivables that this information is not correct only to receive correspondence that they believe it is. I filed a BBB complaint against ****** in 2020 on this issue when account was reported on my credit report by TransUnion. The investigation resulted in the ****** charge being removed from my report at that time. I again am asking for review as this is the same account being reported by another party.

    On 3/4/2023, received a letter from SOURCE RECEIVABLES MANAGEMENT alleging non-payment on a ****** account. None of the data, dates, addresses were correct, nor have I ever had a ****** account.

    Replied:
    1. My name is not [NAME]. It was changed in 2013;
    2. That name change places the origination date to be a minimum of nine years ago. It seems unlikely that a legitimate debt would wait for nine years to be remitted to a debt collector;
    3. I have not ever had, to my recollection or according to my records, an account with ******.

    To establish the legitimacy of this claim, please remit to me:
    A. A copy of the original customer contract with ******;
    B. A copy of the last billing statement sent to [NAME] at what address by ******;
    C. Proof that SRM is licensed to collect in the State of California on behalf of ******;
    D. The date on which the statute of limitations expires on this claim, if legitimate and A, B, and C above have been provided.

    A reply from SRM dated 3/29/2023 alleged:
    1) account was created on 10/24/2012
    [fraudulent claim based on my assertion of name change date - NO DOCUMENTS SUPPLIED to support this claim]

    2) last payment to account was for $268.44 on 11/1/2021
    [NO PAYMENT ON THIS DATE WAS MADE BY ME, verified by bank records and check book records. This includes NO PAYMENTS TO THIS ACCOUNT EVER; my phone service was not and has never been ******]

    3) the response to (A) above was to send photocopies of ****** paperwork and print out SRM claims on it
    [THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL ****** CONTRACT; NO ORIGINAL PAPERWORK WAS SUPPLIED]

    4) from (3) above, NONE OF THE DATA ARE CORRECT - NAMES, DATES, ADDRESS ARE ALL WRONG

    5) none of the requests [B - D] have been provided, and (A) is fraudulent.

    SRM has no claim against me, and their efforts are illegitimate.
