The car dealership contacted me about the extended warranty. I purchased with CarShield. They told me that CarShield would not pay the claim for $3552.58. They stated she said they do not ensure electric cars or hybrid cars. Ive been paying on extended warranty for over three years and has had two other claims with CarShield. After contacting them, the first thing I was told was that was normal wearing tear on the car then I was told that the policy did not cover that repair and after I talked about canceling my extended warranty on my car, they offered me to keep me as a customer to lower the payment from $99 a month to $69 a month. And sent me the contract which it says in the contract it will cover that particular. Requesting for them to reimburse me for the $3552.58 repair because I had to pay it out of my pocket or refund me all the money I have paid over three years for this policy. Also, CarShield sold me an extended warranty on my car at the time that my car was still under factory warranty of ******* miles or eight years.Business Response

In January 2020, I bought a service contract with Car Shield. To date, no work has ever been covered because I am always told that the part is not specifically named as an included, covered ********** I brought my car into a shop that CarShield recommended. They had to recommend a shop because ***** has posted labor rates of $239 per hour, and when I brought the car to ***** last week they told me that I would be responsible for the initial diagnosis fee, of approximately 2 hrs, and then the difference between what CarShield pays and the posted labor rate. They told me that in their experience, CarShield has never paid *****, and when reimbursing the customer that reimbursements were for approximately $100 per hr for labor. The issue is that the passenger side heat is blowing colder than the driver's side, which blows as hot as the temp setting is set. I found the following:1) If the drivers side is hot but the passenger side is cold: This points to a blend door or actuator issue.2) If both sides are cold or not getting enough heat: This is more likely a heater core issue.I dropped my car off at 8:45 am with the understanding that a diagnostic would be done that; the shop owner felt might just be a few minutes of labor if the computer identified the issue. At 1:38 pm the shop called to tell me that CarShield will not cover it because the issue is a bad heater core, and that the cost would be between $1200-1300. Later today, when I pick my car up, I will find out what the diagnostic fee is. Hopefully it is not more than $100.I called CarShield/******************** to let them know that I believe the shop they sent me to is trying to scam ***** this point, I have no confidence that CarShield/******************** will ever cover any repairs my car needs. I have paid more than $4,500 in monthly premiums over the past 60 months. I am at the point where I would like them to reimburse me all premiums I have paid to them to date, and we can cancel the contract.Business Response

CarShield requested that the Administrator of your Vehicle Service Contract examine your claim based on the review you have provided. The claim was reviewed by the Legal Claims Director for ***, an ASE-Certified Master Mechanic, and the results of this investigation have concluded that your claim was adjudicated correctly in accordance with the terms and exclusions of the Vehicle Service Contract ("VSC").
Upon review, it was discovered that no verifiable failure was ever presented to the repair facility. Nevertheless, both the heater core nor the blend door actuator are listed for coverage per the terms and exclusions of your contract. A more extensive list of exclusions can be found within your contract. I have attached a copy for your convenience.
CarShield has no contractual obligation to refund you for parts not listed for coverage. I joined car shield about three years ago they profess they cover engines, transmissions, etc. they denied my claim for a new engine because theres a wearable item in the engine. Everything in an engine is wearable the fact that theyre on TV constantly bragging that they cover engines is false, that being said I canceled my warranty with them. They hounded me for months to come back. Finally I did talk to a representative a few weeks ago and they indicated the car shield was sold to a new company and they wanted me to join again knowing I had a pre-existing issue With my car I signed up and I was misinformed by them and they again denied the car. Shield is a scam. I think that people should not deal with them. That company is no good and lies.Business Response

CarShield requested that the Administrator of your Vehicle Service Contract examine your claim based on the review you have provided. Based upon the review of your file, it was found that a consistent oil consumption issue has arisen in all three of your current or previous CarShield contracts. As stated within your contract, mechanical issues that have arisen prior to the inception period of the contract will not have coverage per the terms and exclusions of the ***. In addition to the pre-existing conditions exclusion clause within your contract, your VSC clearly states that failure to protect your vehicle in the event of a mechanical breakdown/failure may result in no coverage for your claim. Oil consumption issues have been found to have occurred in all three contracts that have spanned over a year in total time of coverage. Failure to address the oil consumption concerns, and the continued operation of your vehicle has resulted in the partial/or complete denial of your claim.
In regard to your additional denials for your previous contracts, it was found that no verifiable failure was demonstrated and thus would have no coverage per the terms and exclusions of your contract. A more extensive list of exclusions may be located within your contract.
CarShield has no contractual obligation to refund you for continued operation and pre-existing conditions. However, as an effort to resolve this matter, CarShield is willing to refund your payments in full for contract(s) MRFLC5247968 upon the execution of a signed settlement and release agreement for contract(s) MRFLC5247968, MRF5052543, MRF4205449 . My husband and I have been paying Carshield a fee of $146.14 for their platinum warranty since October of 2022 on my husband's 2019 Chevrolet Sonic. On December 13, 2024 we took the vehicle to ********** for regular maintenance service and a leak was found. I contacted Carshield to cover the repairs for the leak as I was advised that the warranty would be bumper to bumper full warranty. Carshield advised that the shop had to contact them to open the claim which they did. It was the first claim that was filed since obtaining the warranty. The vehicle had a radiator leak and the total estimate of the work including parts and labor was going to be approximately $400-$500 of which I had a $100 deductible. Carshield only offered to pay $134 because they considered part of the repair consisted of conducting a flush of the radiator fluid was maintenance. Despite the fact the mechanic explained that it is recommended by the manufacturer to do a flush once the piece is replaced; Carshield refused to pay. Then Carshield failed to issue payment to the shop and I was unable to leave the shop. The shop contacted Carshield to at least confirmed that they were going to pay the amount offered. The shop was on hold for over an hour. When finally, someone picked up the phone, not only were they rude but indicated that they would not stay on the phone to confirm receipt of the information that they requested to finalize the approval of the repair. We were told to call back in 15 minutes. When we did the office was closed and I had to pay out of pocket for the repairs. Also had to pay out of pocket for a rental which Carshield was supposed to cover. Then conveniently this company is not cancelling the account either.Business Response

As stated within your contract, your coverage is non-applicable to items deemed as routine maintenance of the vehicle. In regard to your claim, both the water outlet and labor were authorized, and coolant flush was denied as it is a maintenance operation.
Furthermore, it was discovered that the delays associated with your claim were found to be due to the repair facility's failure to promptly provide the final invoice upon request. Upon inspection of your claim, it was discovered that no final invoice was received from the selected repair facility until after they called in looking for payment at the end of the day on 12/11/24. The repair facility advised they would call back in 15 minutes after sending the invoice. Upon reviewing our calling system, there is no record of the repair facility calling that day. The payment was processed the following morning, but the repair facility never ran the payment provided.
CarShield has no contractual obligation to refund you for repair facility delays and denying covering routine maintenance as outlined within your contract. However, as an effort to resolve this matter, CarShield is willing to refund you six monthly payments for contract(s) MFF4371061 upon the execution of a signed settlement and release agreement. I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because:
the work that your office improperly adjudicated falls under the category of repairs and should have been covered. The mechanic informed your claims department that the flush was necessary to restore the system after the leak repair to eliminate potential contaminants that if present and not removed could have potentially cause further damage. Moreover, your office still did not pay for the repair or the rental vehicle. With that being said, I am willing to accept a reimbursement of 18 months of coverage which totals $2,630.52 in exchange of signing a release.
Sincerely,

They say you are allowed to do your own oil changes yet if you do that they will deny your claims stating that if you would have taken it somewhere to have the oil changed you wouldnt have the issue.
As stated within your contract, failure to maintain all vehicle fluid levels as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer may result in the denial of your claim. It was found that the vehicle arrived at the repair facility with engine oil low enough to not register on the engine oil dipstick. The repair facility had also determined that a long-term oil leak has occurred within your vehicle and has subsequently led to a lack of proper fluids needed for the basic function of your vehicle.
In addition to the lack of proper maintenance on the vehicle, it has been made clear that continued operation has occurred in conjunction with a long-standing oil leak. As stated within your contract, failure to protect your vehicle in the event of a mechanical breakdown/failure may result in the denial of your claim.
CarShield has no contractual obligation to refund you for vehicle negligence and continued operation. However, as an effort to resolve this matter, CarShield is willing to offer a 6-month refund for contract(s) MRF4660063 upon the execution of a signed settlement and release agreement. I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because: no where in the service agreement does it say I can not do my own oil changes which I provided receipts for also car shield told me the shop said it was a long standing oil leak that was ignored and the shop told me they never said that and that they told the adjuster that they do not even know where the oil leak is coming from it was not something I could see and they also told me even if I took it to say ******* for a oil change there is a high chance they would not have seen the leak it wasnt leaking out onto the ground. I requested three times to talk to someone since I was being told two different things or to the adjuster and was denied

I purchase car warranty with car shield on 07/19/2023 on to of my vehicle 2013 Ram 3500 at cost of ****** a month, also had my 2006 Ram 1500 at ****** a month with a total of *******. I filed my claim on my 2013 ram around the end of September explained to them what i taught maybe the problem was I told them i drain my fuel filters to c if that would help thinking maybe it was water in my filters .that didn't help any still rain with a miss so I replaced both filters an processed to start vehicle truck turned over once with out starting, om the second attempt the starter begins to smoke an it quite spinning, so I made the call an that's what I explained to the claims , keep in mind that the starter went out, they needed a dasnostic test but he couldn't give them one because the starter was out and would not OK a starter so I went on an bought a starter, 12/18/2024 my claim was initiated by text message claim# *******. Spoke with mechanic he sent my injectors off to have them tested to weeks prior to him getting a response. When I received the claim # the next day I was informed that it was denied. SO when I ask why was it being denied there reson was everything I explained to them I taught was the problem they used it against me. Water in the fuel and how do u know did my mechanic tell you that no he didn't because I told you what I assumed the problem was , that was our conversation then the starter was because of excessive starting attempts, This was my fish claim filed on either of my trucks in 19 months I was insured, now what the don't know is that year model I have has a water separated when filters need to be drained it will light up on my dash so next thing is the starter when u drained are change the fuel filters it is push button start, as soon as u push the start button it will start turning for about 10 seconds on its on r until it starts, if it doesn't start then u repeat by the second time the filters r prime up and it will start,Business Response

As stated within your contract, failure to maintain your vehicle to manufacturer standards may result in the denial of your claim. Upon inspection of your vehicle, it was discovered that the fuel injector failure was due to outside influence contaminants and lack of maintenance in regard to replacing filters at the correct OEM interval. Due to the lack of proper maintenance, the fuel injectors would not have coverage per the terms and exclusions of your contract.
In addition to the lack of maintenance found in regard to your fuel injectors, your repair facility documented that there were several attempts to "start" or turn over the engine of your vehicle. These attempts have led to the complete failure of the starter motor. Failure to protect your vehicle from further damage following a mechanical breakdown may result in the partial or complete denial of your claim. As the continuous attempts to start the vehicle have been identified to be the main cause of failure for the starter motor, there will be no coverage for this component. A more extensive list of excluded components and terms may be located within your contract.
CarShield has no contractual obligation to refund you for mechanical negligence. However, as an effort to resolve this matter, CarShield is willing to offer you a 12 month refund for contract(s) MRF4727446 upon the execution of a signed settlement and release agreement for contract(s) MRF4727446 and MRF4727447. Over a year ago, I filed a complaint against CarShield for refusing to pay for vehicle repairs they advertise they would pay. They paid me back half what I had paid for an engine replacement, plus 1 year of subscription fees paid. I was told to cancel my policy as a stipulation to the agreement, which I did. Now, I'm getting multiple phone calls and emails wanting my business back and refusing to remove me from their list. They keep telling me that they are now under new ownership and want me to come back. I don't want anything to do with CarShield (I don't care WHO owns it now). I just want them to leave me the h*** alone!Business Response
