As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, ******** **** ****** (***) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced.
Per *** the repair shop reported the head gasket as a failure and the vehicle overheating. The adjuster has verified this failure. Per the contract the head gasket is not listed for coverage. A list of covered components can be found in section B of your contract. There was a previous claim that was covered for transmission repairs in the amount of $4401.84 therefore nothing will be refunded.

I have had Carshield for at least the last 7 years (maybe a little longer) I recently found out they were not honoring any claims whatsoever and there is a Federal Indictment filed against them. I was told I could recover the payments I paid to them. My account number was **********. I was told to contact the Ohio Attorney Generals office and also Better Business Bureau. Is there anyway you can help me recover funds?
Thank you

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this matter.
We see that you had a coverage on a 2011 Dodge Caliber from 6/1/18 through 7/19/20. You also have coverage on a 2017 Dodge Journey that started on 6/4/20 and that the contract is still active. Those 2 contract lengths together equal 5 years of coverage, not 7.
In your complaint you state CarShield does not honor claims. CarShield's administrator American Auto Shield has authorized $114,275,480.30 in claim since January 2023-June 2023 and the statement that there is a federal indictment against CarShield simply untrue and unfounded.
Every CarShield contract comes with a 30 day review period giving our customer ample time to review the terms of the contract or research the company reviews etc. If our customer choose to cancel their contract during that time frame we issue a full refund. Since you have purchased 2 contracts with CarShield you were surely aware of the review period but chose not to cancel either contract.
Although CarShield has no contractual obligation to refund any payments, we will refund your last 12 payments as a courtesy upon execution of a

We got Carshield several months ago and in the past several weeks we have been having car trouble and tried to contact them about what garages to use but we have repeatedly been told there was an error every time we have tried to contact them. We figure its a scam but after reaching out to the BBB we realized its a company but its not a reputable company. I want them to stop automatically billing me. I have tried to cancel their services but continue to get error messages and no resolution.Business Response

I purchased a warranty with Car Shield for my Trax about two months ago. Two weeks ago, my air conditioner stopped blowing cold. I took it to my local ***** dealership where I purchased it (and because they honor Car Shield warranties). They told me that my services and parts wont be covered by my warranty because Car Shield doesn't cover missing parts. I was completely unaware of any missing parts. They said that the car was missing the ambient sensor and an HVAC wiring harness and asked if I had body work done on my car (which I admitted. I had the bumper replaced June 2022). According to them, this is the reason why my a/c stopped blowing cold, and that's understandable. What doesn't make sense to me is why hadn't my a/c stopped working a year ago if the parts were missing due to body work from 2022? I couldn't get a direct answer and they denied my claim and left me with a $888 repair bill from the dealership. I felt taken advantage of during this entire ordeal, and today I decided to cancel my contract. It was only after everything was said and done that I found out how they will often find any way possible to deny claims. I don't advise anyone to use them.Business Response

Carshield is a scam. I picked up a policy from them after I heard about their service from a colleague. Recently I needed services on my truck for a dead alternator. The mechanic identified the problem and tried contacting carshield on multiple occasions. My policy says that alternators are covered with a $100 deductible. However after a week of my truck sitting in the shop, it turns out my out of pocket expenses are basically what I would have paid without any coverage at all. What is the point of even getting coverage if they don’t even cover what they guarantee is covered. 0 out of 100 ratings from me.Business Response

bought Car shield protection plan 8/21/22 for 2014 Tesla S.
Sunroof would not close or open
Advised Car shield/******** **** ****** and told to bring to Tesla and send them the estimate and the bill with a 0 balance( pd. about $4000 I had other stuff done too) for review and reimbursement ,since Tesla would not work with them. (Per ******* * */7/23) and then again 4/10/23.
Sent info requested Diagnosis was sunroof want open all the way or close at times. need to replace motors and cables and lots of other stuff. Auto shield denied claim in letter stating The problem was "Wind noise from the sunroof was heard caused by a failure to the gasket and trim, which is not coverable per your vehicle service contract. NO FAILURE TO THE OPERATION OF THE SUNROOF WAS REPORTED"
MULTIPLE TIMES I SENT IN THE ESTIMATE AND THE BILL THAT WAS PAID STATING ,Sunroof would not close or open. NOTHING ABOUT "WIND".
NEXT unable to open drivers front door., handle would not "present". Door handle assembly parts inside door broke. Auto shield denied "not coverable" pd. $295.74
Next, This is my favorite, ******** **** ****** stated, " The tire pressure is seen low caused by low tire tread, per your vehicle service contract tires are not coverable".
First tire pressure has nothing to do with the amount of tread on a tire ever.
Second the estimate/bill states Check tire pressure and condition . Tesla just does this as a courtesy. There was never a charge for this of an Issue and was never put in as a claim. This was just plan "Silly"
Next the reasons given were:
9) Any Adjustments , repositioning ,refitting .realigning, programing, and/or cleaning, unless as a result of a COVERED BREAKDOWN.
22) Betterment
My view: Pg 13 Section 3 sub part a. "COVERAGE INCLUDES" MODULES SWITHCES, REALYS, SENSORS,ACTUATORS OR MOTORS OF POWER LOCKS, POWER DOOR. THIS IS FOR THE DOOR HANDLE.
AND FOR THE SUNROOF TO STATING SUNROOF IN THIS SECTION.
THANKS FOR LISTENING

I have enclosed the third offer for settlement of my case from Car shield/American auto shield. First thanks to BBB for getting me this, I Guess I would not have gotten anything from them with out The BBB.
In reading this I am not allowed to discuss this with anyone if I accept their "BUY OFF". I am lucky enough to not have to worry about this "buy off" but realize less fortunate people may be "bought off". I am wondering if I can be of service to BBB in fighting with Car shield/American auto shield by not accepting this offer.

We purchased Car Sheild that was supposed to cover anything in the cooling system. We paid 107.00 a month for 18 to 19 months and needed to file a claim and one of the parts being replaced was in the cooling system. They did not cover it. We called them to cancele their service. The man we spoke to was rude to the point that my husband hung up. The guy called us back to be rude and yell at my husband again. We revoked their right to take any more money from our bank. They have not but they keep harassing us about being late with our payment. I have called several times and spoke with customer service who assure us that we were canceled and the harassment will stop bit it hasn't. They call my husband's phone daily and send me emails claiming I'm late with the payment.
Our phone number through car sheild is *** *** ***** That's how they get to our account, in case you need it. We just want them to stop harassing us and not make it look like we owe them money. We canceled on May 26, 2023.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
The main complaint is that they did not cover what was in our contract. A part of the cooling system had to be replaced. The complete cooling system was under coverage. They did not pay any on it. They did pay 126.10 on a passenger side window motor. But the coolant system bill was 190.66 and they didn't cover that at all. The mechanic said that he told them it was covered because he looked at our policy, but they refused to pay.

Filed a claim in January 2022. They agreed to pay all expenses 100% less the $100.00 deductible. They refuse to pay the towing bills from December and January but had told me they were covered 100%. They agreed to pay the mechanic his full bill less my deductible but then short paid him $2,600.00. I am making payments for the difference. They agreed to all of the bills before submitted and then back tracked. They refuse to make this right. All of the calls were recorded and everything can be verified.Business Response
