I am filing this complaint with BBB to warn you of my unprofessional experience with CarShield (******** **** ******).
CarShield told the repair shop and myself that they would cover $139.95 and I would owe the shop $198.88. This was on 6/26/23. The car's repairs were completed on 6/28/23. Then the runaround began. Over the next week, CarSheild kept reading from a script that they had not received the invoice. The shop had sent them a total of 4 invoices, and talked to them twice. Eventually I paid the full bill myself and cancelled my CarShield policy. This is not a reputable company.Business Response

For the past 4 years I have been harassed daily by Car Shield, both via USPS mail and multiple daily emails. I have requested to be unsubscribed from communications of all types on the website as requested several times over the past 4 years, most recently 3 months ago, and was informed on the online site that I’d successfully unsubscribed ; further I began blocking each email contact 3 months ago however the company dubiously changes the font or address slightly to evade detection and therefore the prior block. I have no need for a plan from this company and because of this constant harassment if I did need such a plan I’d never use this company. I want all contact from this agency to desist immediately Informing people in their website that they’ve been successfully unsubscribed and changing fonts, adding a special character ( such as ~) between the regular characters, etc is deceptive and harassing .Business Response

I purchased the Monthly Powertrain W/ Labor & Turbo service plan which became effective 12/30/2022. My 2006 Honda Ridgeline has now been at the **** ****** dealership for about 4 or 5 months waiting for Carshield to approve the claim. First they wanted a bill of sale Now they want a receipt for the timing belt, which I would not have because the owner before me is the one who would have that. This is not a transfered contract so there is ABSOLUTELY No reason my truck hasn't been fixed. I pay my monthly payment every month and they continue to take money from me but don't want to provide their service .The truck has been at the Dealership waiting for months and I have been at home with no transportation at all and I am 70 years old. Not to mention I had to pay for my own towing when they were suppose to and when I inquired about a rental car they said I had to pay for it and they would reimburse me later but up to only 14 days. The reason I purchased this service plan was because I am on a fixed income and in the event that something were to hppen I wanted to make sure it was covered. Now they continue to take money every month and keep my vehicle at the service center. I would like My truck fixed considering that what they are doing is illegal in WA state.Business Response

In march 2021 I purchased a Car Shield Gold plan to help pay for future car repairs. I paid $60 to $70 a month. In July 2023 I had my first problem. Overheating. The car repair facility said it was a bad water pump, which I had already figured out. Car Shield gave me claim # 2259818. They paid the repair facility $33 for diagnostics (the repair facility charged $45.60 and I am expected to pay the difference) ...they paid $176 labor (actual charge $243.30)....they paid $181.32 for the pump (actual charge $178.03). I do not understand that last one .
My complaint is that they did not pay for the water pump housing or the coolant refill.or the towing charge, all of which are explicitly stated as being covered in my contract. I want reimbursed for these charges.Towing was $55. Coolant was $154.99. Housing was $197.
I called the administrator of the plan asking to speak to an adjuster but the woman I spoke to said she could not transfer me to an adjuster. She gave me the above prices.. She did not explain why I could not talk to an adjuster nor did she give me another phone number to call.
She said the above parts were not covered. When I said that they were covered according to my contract which is posted on line she insisted they were not. I asked her to read #4 of the contract titled COOLING SYSTEM, part a which states they are covered. She paid no attention but simply repeated they were not covered. (Coverage about the towing is in a different section of the contract. It states towing is covered if driving the car could do more damage and running an overheated engine could ruin it.)Business Response

The approximate time that the vehicle was taken to Demontrond Jeep was June 21st, 2023 due to coolant reservoir loosing coolant fluid. The vehicle was inspected and engined was deemed warped and head damaged. As per CarShield insurance the engine is a covered item under our "Powertrain Gold" policy. They are now refusing to pay the entire bill and recommend dealership to limit the repairs to complete the job and only offering approx 1/3 of the amount due. We have jointly with Demontrond provided the appropriate documentation needed for their review.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Their statement is that the car "overheated and that we had a BREAKDOWN" which that is not true. The car coolant reservoir decreased and we took it in for service. Again there was NO OVERHEATING and NO BREAKDOWN of the car.

The car Sheild product was applied to a Ram 2016 4 door 6.8foot bed Deisel p/u no engine modifications lifted oversized tires and custom rims canopy +++ modifications.
Nice vehicle well maintained low mileage 40k.
Turbo actuator ($2500.00) needed replaced notified Carsheild and they required additional information and paperwork and I complied (2hours). Meanwhile vehicle is in transition to repair shop (my usual). The over abundance of red tape, communication, emails, text, phone calls in 2 days I realize this could take months so I paid to have vehicle repaired.
This red tape goes on for 2 months and finally Carsheild asks location of vehicle and denied claim next do to quote
“Carsheild did not authorize repair” they drew out the red tape and because I need the vehicle and had it repaired they refused to reimburse.
The next repair they did the same thing and I didn’t pay for repair and 3 months into arguing they denied claim because I referred to Carsheild as insurance and Carsheild is not an insurance company.
I cancelled my membership and have since been solicited a dozen times for reinstatement w/all kind of insensitives.Business Response

07/18/2023 my 2017 Jaguar XJ has been in the service dept of Jaguar S. Orlando with problems to the coolant. ***** is my service advisor and my car is still there currently.
I purchased my warranty policy through CarShield on 05/18/23. Policy # **********. Claim # 2257161. I specifically told the rep that I had previous issues with the coolant, and I wanted to make sure that was covered, the rep put me on hold and came back to say YES, the policy covers coolant problems. She said that I would only need to get past the 20 days elimination period before anything would be covered, which was June 8th. I said okay and purchased the policy. Now, the 3rd party ******** **** ****** that actually services the contract, is stating that they will only cover $767 of the $3000 claim because the dealership says it will take 8 hours to complete the job and CarShield and ******** **** ****** are stating that they should be able to complete that job in 2.4 hours. CarShield and *** are also stating that the parts the dealership needs to complete the job cost too much and they want to order the parts and ship them to the dealership. So, CarShield and *** are telling the dealership what parts they should be using along with how much time it should take to complete the job.
The rep at CarShield should have told me that is how this policy works when they were selling me the policy but they did not. I want a refund of my premiums paid or I want them to cover the cost of the repair.Business Response
