I have been paying carsheild for two years (more or less) for my auto insurance. They have an app where I saw that my engine, transmission, and other parts are covered. I spent more than **** dollars in two years thinking that I have the insurance. When I needed to get the work done, I found out that the insurance is now under American Auto Sheild. They refused to cover my claim even though the damage was done due to the lubricated parts. When I called them, they kept refusing to pay. These companies do not pay a dime and take money from the average people. They don't want to provide the service and just take the money away. I want to know how they justify the pricing for their service. What is the % of their acceptance of claims? Surely, I am not the only one they are scamming.

As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, ******************** (AAS) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments.  We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Upon further review your claim was adjudicated correctly. The intake manifold and the **** control solenoid valve are both excluded components. While the solenoid is partially inside the engine and its oil, your contract does not cover engine electronics regardless of their location. All covered components can be found in section B of your contract. As well as exclusions that can be found in section D. Your policy will only cover what is listed no more no less. Nevertheless, CarShield will refund your last 6 payments upon execution of a Settlement and Release Agreement. Carshield Agent ********************* misrepresented this coverage as vehicle insurance, not a warranty on my vehicle. A payment of $74.89 was taken out of my bank account this morning for initial payment. I never recieved a contract. Upon calling Carshield and requesting a copy of coverage be sent to my email, I realized this is in fact NOT insurance, I was LIED TO BY THE AGENT, and called to cancel the contract #MRF4812020. I spoke to Agent **** who told me that he cancelled the contract but it would be ***** business days before my refund was processed. I also have not recieved any emails atating it has been cancelled. This is entirely unacceptable and I told him that. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told none were available and he would note the account for a call back from a Supervisor in ***** hours. This company's agent completely lied to me, misrepresenting what the coverage is, and processed a payment from my bank account in the amount of $74.89 I want my money back, the contract cancelled and for anyone reading this to note the shady business practices of Carshields agenta, JUST to "make a sale".

We have listened to the recorded sales call and you were in fact told you were purchasing mechanical breakdown insurance. That is the reason the sales representative went over the covered components of your contract during the call.

Your contract has been cancelled and your refund is being processed. We will try to expedite your refund as a courtesy.  We are sorry to lose you as a CarShield customer.

Car ****** misrepresented it self. It make you believe that it’s there when ever you need it. It has so many loop holes in it. it’s not. both my wife and myself are seniors citizens. don’t have the money for big amounts repairs this sounded like a good policy. I've signed up with Car****** in 2021 and pay $118.35 for my plan. My car had to be picked up by and taken to my mechanic due to issues. The parts needed is over $800. The mechanic told me Car****** would not cover the part. I called and asked Car****** why I wasn't being covered and was told the reason was because the part had erosion, and they don't cover anything that has erosion. I do not put alot of wear and tear on my car. I probably drive it at the most 5 times a month to go get groceries.

On or around the 21st of August I had my daughter take my ****** into the dealer in ********** **. The reason was to determine the cause of a knocking sound coming from the car while driving. Diagnostic test from **************************** determined that the car needed a transmission. It was discussed by cell phone from me to the technician that I had an extended warranty with car shield. I was informed that ************** did not accept warranties dealing with car shield. I contacted ****** (technician) at Flow ****** in Burlington to inquire if a car shield warranty was an acceptable method of payment and was assured it was. I contacted car shield to inform them that my car needed a new transmission. It was during this conversation that I learned for the first time that car shield could not approve payment and I had to contact ******************** to determine if they were going to pay for the transmission. I had no idea at this time, of another companys involvement. . When I contacted ******************** I was informed that my claim had been denied and that I needed to speak with Car Shield regarding my policy. I spoke with several representatives from car shield in trying to resolve this issue. I was talked down to and my call was disconnected on several occasions when speaking with representatives from car shield. After numerous emotional conversations between Car shield, ******************** and myself, it was finally determined on or around September 13th that my claim was approved. (*******) It was during a conversation with ***** that I learned it was a used transmission but the inspector said it should be okay. It was placed in the car and after a test drive we were told it was no good. Another inspector came out ( September 19) and agreed that the transmission was no good thus resulting in this claim. On Friday September 22 I was contacted by ********************* from ******************** that the claim for another transmission was denied. He stated that the technician had damaged the transmission while putting it in the car. I am elderly, handicapped and completely at a loss for words as I did not understand. I obtained and maintained this contract in good faith. I was told that a transmission was covered in my policy. I believe whatever transpired between ********************, their representative and Flow ****** has nothing to do with me. I only want what I have been paying for numerous years. Thank you.

Contract#: MRF4192550 Claim#: ******* I recently filed an auto warranty claim to CarShield administered by American Auto Shield on August 21, 2023 with respect to the replacement of the engine. The auto warranty company is denying culpability, falsely claiming that my vehicle overheated and was driven. The truth of the matter is that my vehicle shut down without warning (no check engine light) or signs of distress (overheating). My vehicle was towed by AAA to the repair facility as evidenced by the receipt of accompanying this letter. The technician (***************************) at the repair facility (Kingsman Transmission and *************** *********, **********) indicated that the head gaskets within the engine were not blown providing proof that my car did not overheat. After filing an initial dispute which was denied, CarShield (American Auto Shield) now indicates that my only alternative is to file an alternative dispute wherein I waive my rights to trial by jury and where in the arbitration will take place before a single arbitrator and that litigation can take place only in the courts of ****************, ********. It further stipulates that if I were to employ an attorney that neither attorney fees, court filing fees or related expenses will be paid.I have enclosed: 1) a copy of the provisions of the alternative dispute resolution for your inspection, 2) the towing invoice from AAA and 3) a copy of the business card of the repair facility (Kingston Transmission and *************** and technician (***************************) where my vehicle is being held.Because of the urgency of this matter I would appreciate your consideration at your earliest possible convenience.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, American Auto Shield (AAS) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments.  We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. You claim was opened for engine failure.  Your chosen repair facility reported and provided photos showing a cracked engine block. The repair facility also reported a water pump failure as initial cause of failure.  Your claim was authorized for water pump as initial cause of failure but engine was denied correctly for continued operation on failed water pump. Codes show vehicle entered overheated and your repair facility states you admitted that engine was running hot for a few days and not wanting to stay running.

Even if this failure were not due to continued operation it would not be coverable. The block/heads are only covered if damaged by an internally lubricated component, and the location of the crack in the block makes it impossible for this damage to be due to an internally lubricated component. There is now ay this failure could ever be coverable under this contract.

AAS has already authorized $2026.58 for a water pump and they are waiting for the final invoice for that. Due to the authorized amount being more than you have paid into the contract, there is no refund due.  If you wish to void the authorization, CarShield will refund your payments in full upon execution of a Settlement and Release Agreement. If you wish to accept this offer, please email ******************************* to confirm and we will draft the Agreement and email it to you for your electronic signature. Customer Answer

    Date: 10/10/2023

I received CarShield's initial response to my complaint on October 6, 2023.  CarShield has based it's response on several falsehoods - 1) that my vehicle overheated (my vehicle never overheated nor did the check engine light go on), 2) that the repair facility stated that I admitted that the engine was running hot for a few days (neither did I make such a statement or drive my vehicle, it was towed on August 21, 2023by AAA to the repair facility).  The mere fact that the head gaskets of the engine were not blown as evidence by the technician at the repair facility is further proof that my vehicle did not overheat.

CarShield has even gone so far as to refute it's own statement by admitting that the block heads in the engine are covered if damaged by an internally lubricated component yet indicating that with a crack in the blockhead it is impossible for this damage to be due to an internally lubricated component.

In light of these falsehoods and contradictions, I am requesting a Settlement and Release Agreement.   I would appreciate your outlining the specifics of the agreement prior to my signing.

Please fax over the agreement to **************.

P.S.  Please note that I have been a paying member for the past seven and a half years.

I purchased a Car Shield warranty about 6 weeks ago. Car Shield advertising emphasized I could "take my car to any licensed shop" A few days into the second month of my warranty, I took my car into a licensed shop for repair but was told due to past "nightmare" experiences with Car Shield, they would not work on the car if Car Shield was involved. I called a second licensed repair facility and was told about the same. I felt as my 2nd month had just renewed, a fair compromise would be for a refund of one month, as the service could not be utilized as described throughout all their advertisements. The agent refused to refund my second month of warranty cost.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Carshield and your administrator, American Auto Shield, are open to and willing to work with any repair facility that you select.  However, each repair facility is able to determine who they wish to do business with as well.  There is nothing that CarShield or AAS can do to force any repair facility to work with you.  This is clearly outside the control of CarShield or American Auto Shield.

CarShield will refund your last payment as requested.  You will receive the refund back to the card on file within 3-5 business days.

On 09/26/23 I received a call from a Representative from CarShield stating that my payment did go through for the month.
