Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, American Auto Shield (AAS) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments.  We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced.  Your claim was originally authorized, incorrectly, for an alternator replacement on 9/25/23.

On 10/13/23, your chosen repair facility called back in stating after repairs were completed they found engine concerns recommending motor replacement.  The inspection was reviewed on 11/2/23 and the subsequent repairs were denied as it was shown that the vehicles registration had expired in October of 2022. After back and forth regarding the vehicles registration the remainder of the claim was denied for waiting period as the vehicle did not meet mileage requirements after inception calculation. The original authorized of $461.73 is not per terms of the contract but the registration issue was unknown at that time and AAS can not take that authorization away. That amount has been paid to your repair facility.

If you have any additional questions regarding your claim, please contact AAS directly at ************. As the contract administrator and obligated party under the contract, they will be happy to answer any additional claim questions you may have.

If you wish to cancel your contract, CarShield will refund your last payment upon execution of a Settlement and Release Agreement. If you wish to accept this offer, please email ******************************* to confirm and we will draft the Agreement and email it to you for your electronic signature. Please be sure to include your contract number for faster processing.

I purchased a contract with Carshield in September of 2022. CarShield picked the warranty for my 2013 Land Range ******************** In December of 2022 my car was taken to a Range Rover specialist PPR. I was told that the timing chain broke. PPR filed a claim with Carshield for the problem. An adjuster called me and told me the claim was approved and they will call PPR to let them know they can proceed with fixing the car. PPR proceeded to take the car apart to fix the timing chain and discovered that pieces of the timing chain had fallen into the oil pan. PPR explained that the broken pieces that are in the oil pan can get into the engine and cause engine failure if driven. They stated they could not fix one without fixing both to make the car operable.PPR called the adjuster and no one returned their calls. PPR gave me the adjuster's number. I called the adjuster and left several messages but he never returned my call. PPR submitted another claim with the timing chain and to remove the broken pieces from the oil pan. Carshield has denied the claim to remove the broken pieces from the oil pan to PPR saying the oil pan is not broke so they don't have to fix the problem. My car has been at the shop for 1 year. The engine must be lifted to get to the oil pan. The oil pan is broke because the broken pieces can seize the engine if driven. I can't drive the car, you can't fix one part without fixing the other. My car is torn apart and I cannot get Carshield to help. I called trying to file a complaint there no complaint procedures. I was told I cannot talk to an adjuster only a shop can call to talk to adjusters. PPR has been reaching out to carshield and as of today no one has responded. I am paying $520 car note, $213 insurance, and my payments to carshield for a year without a car. My Carshield plan pays for these repairs. I need them to approve all the repairs to get my car fixed, put together PPR will not put a broke car together, the oil pan is not operable

Back in November 2022 I purchased car ****** powertrain Gold w/Labor and Turbo warranty . My contract number is **********. So I paid for a year ,now my timing chain needs to be replaced, both the cam shafts ,the cam adjusters and some other things need to be done that directly connected to the engine ,what I was told when signing is all part of my warranty. Considering it is a ******** **** repairs aren't cheap. ******** **** gave me a bill for $17754 and Car ****** said they will only cover $2847.90 . They sent out an adjuster that somehow decided that most of the damages is due o my negligence ,even though I have proof I always did service on time ,took care of my car . When I asked them over the phone to provide me with the inspection report so I can take it to my mechanic and all so a break down in writing what does the $2847.90 cover ,I was told they don't provide this service . They are the biggest crocks ,I have no idea how they are still in business !!!I want what was part of my contract and was promised to me !!!

Entered by BBB staff DC. Consumer states about 3 months ago he contacted Car****** because the check engine light was on in his vehicle & he was given several mechanical businesses to go to and they would not do the work because Car****** has too many bad ratings. Consumer has given over $3000 over the last 3 years to Car******. The engine light is still on and is still not fixed.

I bought the vehicle in question (2006 ****** Grand Vitara) from Car Spot on 07/10/2023. I also secured my contract with American Auto Shield/Car Shield the same day 07/10/2023. On 10/19/2023 my oil light came on so my wife *********************** had an oil change service completed by USA Auto Service and was notified of potential timing issue. On 11/11/2023 the oil light came back on so we took it to Tire Works 2007 and on 11/13/2023 Tire Works 2007 filed the initial claim with American Auto Shield/Car Shield. All documents and photos/videos requested was shared with both Tire Works 2007 as well as American Auto Shield/Car shield and the adjuster, *******************, inspected the vehicle, everything according to my contract was met. On 11/29/2023 when speaking to a customer ********************** representative, she informed me that American Auto Shield/Car shield had denied my claim with reason being there was a history of prior damage to the engine and driving the vehicle while unknowingly having an oil leak instead of towing the vehicle to a repair facility. I am requesting that American Auto Shield/Car Shield repair the damages to my vehicle according to my contract, or refund me for my losses. I believe that American Auto Shield/Car Shield operated in bad faith and never fully intended to assist me with my car repairs.

I purchased Car Shield Warranty and had an issue so I sent it to an auto repair they recommended. The auto shop said I needed to replace the radiator which Car Shield denied. I then had my engine light go on and immediately sent it to another repair shop at which time transmission codes came up. Again I was denied by Car Shield stating the issue had to do with the radiator so making it again a preexisting issue and wont pay for it. This seems to be their standard practice of taking monthly payments but refusing any repair work.

I purchased a Gold contract MRF4350860 on 9/27/2022 for $143.00 per month. As a single mother that monthly amount was VERY hard to do but I did EVERY month for 15 months (do the math). I submitted my very first claim today (11/29/23) for oxygen sensors and catalytic converter repair/replacement. The repair facility quoted the repair at $5,700. I immediately panicked but then realized that I indeed had a contact with Carshield. I submitted a claim over the phone and they refused to even open a claim. Apparently catalytic converters aren't covered, which I dont see listed under covered or not covered. I am so disappointed in the business and will make sure to spread the word about this situation. I paid over $2,100 for nothing and I'm now facing a $5,700 repair bill. Should have NEVER trusted this company.

As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, ******************** (AAS) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments.  We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Upon further review there was no claim started on this matter. You had called in on 11/29/23 to check coverage for Oxygen sensors (O2 sensor's) and Catalytic converter. Both of which are not eligible under your Powertrain Gold contract as this contract does not list Emissions system or Exhaust system as covered portions of the vehicle and correctly adjudicated.

On page **************************************************************************************** the paragraph labeled 1 under section B you see the following COVERAGE DOES NOT INCLUDE: Oil Filter; External, NON-LUBRICATED, NON-MOVING Components, Housings, Brackets or Manifolds; Belts; Rubber ****** ************* Fuel, Vacuum, EVAP, PCV or other Lines and hoses; Freeze Plugs; Throttle Body; Thermostat; EXHAUST SYSTEM; Intake Ductwork, Hoses or Housings; Air Filter and Housing. The Engine Block, Cylinder Heads, and Oil Pan are not covered unless damaged by a moving COVERED PART of the Engine. Further exclusions can be found in section D. Therefore it is stated that exhaust systems are not covered which contains your catalytic converter, AAS can not cover components that are not listed for coverage. Nevertheless, CarShield will refund your last 5 payments upon execution of a signed settlement release agreement. Please email ******************************* so we can draft your settlement agreement for your electronic signature.
