      On Sep 27rd my daughter signed up for 8 sessions ($529 Varsity Tutors) of tutoring prior to her ACT exam. We double confirmed while signing up that it was a one time charge for the requested sessions only. This was confirmed by Varsity tutors and we were assured it was not subscription service. The tutoring sessions were completed and my daughter took the ACT on Oct 26th. We thought that was the end of this transaction but we found out on 27 Oct that Varsity Tutors has charged another 529$. We immediately contacted Varsity Tutors and reminded them that we specifically told them that we are not signing for scription service. While they acknowledged this and said they will raise a case for refund internally. Today they came back and said their finance department has denied the refund request. We have no use for this service since our daughter has already taken the test. My daughter did not receive any additional tutoring or access the account post her ACT exam. So NO Service was requested or provided by Varsity Tutors. Varsity Tutors have rejected our request for refund of $529 for the extra month they charged without providing a service. Charging for a service that is neither requested or provided is very unfair and deceitful business model. Kindly requesting a full refund of the unauthorized charge of $529. Chasing this ,disputing the charges etc are totally unnecessary stress for parents already stressed by college application related process.

      Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with Varsity Tutors' deceptive and predatory sales tactics.On August 5th, I contacted Varsity Tutors to arrange for two hours of ACT prep tutoring for my daughter. During the phone conversation with a Varsity Tutors representative, I was informed that the total cost for the two-hour session would be $250. At no point during this conversation was I made aware of any recurring charges or ongoing subscriptions.Subsequently, my 17-year-old daughter received an email from Varsity Tutors inviting her to sign up for their online course. Again, she was not informed about any recurring charges. She proceeded to sign up and provided her credit card information, believing that she was simply registering for the two-hour tutoring ********** my dismay, I later discovered that Varsity Tutors had automatically enrolled my daughter in a recurring subscription without her knowledge or consent. This deceptive practice is not only unethical but also illegal.I urge the Better Business Bureau to investigate this matter and take appropriate action against Varsity Tutors. I believe that their predatory sales tactics are harmful to consumers, especially young individuals who may not fully understand the implications of such agreements.

      I paid for tutoring sessions with varsity tutors on August 29, 2024 for a total of $299.00. I dropped the class that I needed tutoring for so I no longer needed the services of varsity tutors. I called the company and they froze my account. On September 30, 2024 I was charged $299.00 for tutoring sessions that I did not agree to or used. I called varsity tutors for a refund and they refused.

      In August, I signed up with varsity tutors. I was asked to pay in advance for three tutoring sessions at $299.99. I used one tutoring session, but it was not very helpful. I dropped the class that I was getting tutoring for. I am requesting a refund for the unused tutoring sessions. I am a college student with very low economic resources.       We engaged Varsity Tutors in March of 2024 to work with our son to prepare for several Advanced Placement exams. He worked with a tutor from March through May and we were billed monthly for his lessons. In May, we finalized the tutoring with his tutor as he embarked on taking the exams. Varsity Tutors continued to bill us monthly through August in the amount of $579 per month without notification. When this came to our attention, we tried repeatedly to cancel the account on line and were unable to. The only way to cancel is to call directly. When we discussed cancelling, we were given the hard sell to try and keep us active, and it took almost yelling at the sales person to have her finally cancel our account. We asked for reimbursement of funds which were never used. We asked for invoices for all of our payments which we were never sent. I was told that a report would be filed requesting reimbursement and never heard back nore received confirmation of my complaint. I called back a month later and after waiting on line for over an hour, was told that my request had not been granted and that there was no one else there who could speak to me about a reimbursement. Again, I requested invoices and was told they would be sent, and received nothing. My complaint was filed again and I have received no notification at all. Varsity Tutors sets up these "memberships" that we never received an "Agreement" for and they make it impossible to cancel. The treatment we received about all of these transactions was abismal and we were billed $1737 for no services rendered. This is a terrible company.

      We employed varsity tutors for 10 hours of time. They charged us ****** for those hours. We were NOT told that its a monthly recurring charge! They also did NOT tell us that the hours expired monthly. We asked for a refund. They refused.

      I have been paying for a service that I have not used since April of 2023. I asked for a refund. The company can see that this service was not used. I have been paying for an in- person tutoring service somewhere else. The company can see this service hasnt been used and continue to withdrawal multiple times out of my account.

      I used Varsity Tutors for about 3 months when I was studying for the ****. They were great at first, I had high expectations because it wasn't cheap. My tutor was nice, but arrived at the session late often and in the end I got the same score as my first test. It felt like $1,500 down the drain, and when I followed up with my tutor and asked a question (which he told me I could do), he never responded. Just today, two months after I called and asked for a pause on my membership, I was charged $630 for a service I wasn't using. I called and asked for a refund but I was denied. Feels like a waste of time with rude customer service and a lack of a refund. Very disappointing, do not recommend.

      I enrolled my daughter in Varsity Tutor to help with her elementary math and reading. I paid $480 for services that I did not receive. My daughter attened two sessions and the other scheduled sessions were canceled at the last minute by the tutor. I did reschedule one of them and the tutor did not show up. I called to get a refund of the sessions that were canceled and the sessions where the tutor did not show. When I spoke with them they said the contract I signed and the tutoring plan I was on, was not eligible for refund. I explained that the contract was no longer void since they were in breach of contract and did not hold up their end by providing services I paid for. I sent a complaint and they denied my refund. This is completely unacceptable, I should get a refund for $360 for the services I paid for that I didn't receive.

      On Octover 9th, 2024, I purchased a tutoring program. On Octover 9th, 2024, I requested a refund because I was told they could not find a tutor after they expressed to me that they actually had one. Today is Octover the 17th, and I still don't have my refund. I spoke to several staff who told me several lies and still no refund. I did not get one minute of tutoring and Varsity Tutors is still not giving me a refund. I'm a college student and I'm broke in extreme need of this refund.

      I paid $299 in July/ Aug for my son to finish up four hours of tutoring, so he could complete his accounts payable certificate. Then, I got charged $299 on 27 September for no reason because he had no scheduled sessions with a tutor after august. We never signed a membership. They never sent any information to my son, ***** Doughertys email when I paid Back in July 2024. I want the $299 refunded to me because I paid for nothing. Ready to work was paying for all of his tutoring up to July, but they ran out of money, and I was left to pay the last four hours.
