      sept 28, 2025 oct ******* nov 28 ***** i called uo to ****** in mid august . of 2025 . i finished school . i used your services loyaly for 5 years straight . i spoke to customer service again today and cancelled again . i would like the charges above refunded . i would like to use your services again since I have used you for past 5 years . i hopefully will get in to law school in one year from now and would restart these sevices if i get in conditional on the refund to me/and the refund of the money that i requested cancellation of back in august 2025 . you said you had no record of the communication . i would appreciate you refunding the past 3 months in good faith since i have been a loyal customer of 5 years . obviously a miscommunication snafu thank you

      Varsity Tutors did right by me and reached out to me about my complaint. They were very responsive and helpful in resolving this issue and did so in a professional and friendly manner.

      I signed my son up for a custom session of tutoring for the SAT through test date. Despite agreeing to these 16 sessions, VarsityTutors LLC transferred it to a subscription monthly package. Despite that I am accepting of paying through September. What is in dispute is my charge for the subscription in October. I called immediately when I was charged, same day without 1 day of that month being used. Varsity Tutors would not reverse the charge despite no use nor month subscription used.3 issues: (a) my custom package and clear request to prepare for the SAT in September was morphed into a monthly subscription. (b) timely response; I called to cancel same day and explain I did not need October. (c) end result, I paid over $2k more than what ******* ******* and I agreed,I am accepting of August and September charges reluctantly as payment for 16 sessions, I am requesting refund of $1099 as it should never have been charged

      thank you BBB. I was  returned my $ for October which is a positive. The negatives are that it had to get to this level and required BBB. Additionally even for September I was charged for a monthly rate which I did not agree to. I agree to a custom package and ended with over $2k in charges. The tutor was fantastic and delivered for my son but the billing and customer service is not aligned to that high level of service. I wonder if I did not notice the charges if I would be charged every month in perpetuity despite a clear goal to prepare for a September  SAT. Great tutors but sadly not optimal business practices. Thankfully it is resolved for September but Varsity Tutors lost my recommendations ahead to all the many kids preparing for the SAT.

      Varsity tutors has no option to email or request a cancellation online, so I called them on November 11th of 2024 to cancel. After a LONG conversation where they tried to convince me not to cancel, they confirmed my cancellation. They have been charging me monthly since and I have no way to remove my payment method online. Every time I email them I get same AI responce. They are clearly unethical.

      I purchased a Varsity Tutors membership on October 24th, 2025. When I entered my first session I was told that it was helpless and that I needed to drop the course or fail. This course cost the same amount as the tutoring service at roughly 800$ and now I have paid to be told to quit when I could've dropped the course and paid for another using the amount I have paid for the service. I called their customer service and they told me that I should've known it was un refundable despite the tutor telling me I could get a refund. Furthermore, the customer service person did not help me resolve the situation or give any helpful alternatives. They instead told me they would delay the tutoring for 6 months despite me explicitly saying that it would be unnecessary. It is unjust that I have to essentially pay for another university course when I am already struggling financially, when the service I paid for told me that I was too far gone and have to drop the course to avoid failing, rather then providing academic aid I was promised.

      Subject: Dispute of Unauthorized Recurring Charges by Varsity Tutors LLC In 2023, my son purchased a limited number of hours for Statistics tutoring from Varsity Tutors LLC. He used approximately 9 hours, and we had clearly communicated that we only intended to purchase a few hoursnot enroll in any monthly membership. Despite this, we were charged $649 per month from May through December 2023 on a recurring ******** 2025, we were again charged $276.40 monthly until October, even though I had explicitly requested cancellation of the membership in February 2025 and intended only to use the remaining rollover hours. I disputed the 2025 charges and have been reimbursed for May through October 2025, but the April 2025 charge of $386.40 remains unresolved.April 20, 2025: $386.40 (pending)MayOctober 2025: $276.40/month (reimbursed)I have made multiple attempts to contact Varsity Tutors, but they have refused to take responsibility and directed me to work with my bank, ****** *****, in turn, informed me that they cannot dispute charges older than 180 days and have no authority to compel the merchant to issue a ********* this point, I am caught in a frustrating loop between the merchant and the bank. I believe these charges were either fraudulent or the result of negligence on the part of the merchant. Varsity Tutors should be held accountable and issue a refund without deflecting responsibility to the bank, as they are the party that incorrectly charged my credit card.

      I purchased SAT prep tutoring for my son from Varsity Tutoring at the end of September 2025. For over a month, the tutor failed to show for the weekly purchased sessions and Varsity tutors basically ignored my requests to resolve the issue.

      I am highly disappointed with Varsity Tutors sign-up policies and lack of transparency. When I enrolled, I made it very clear to the ***resentative that I only needed the service for four weeksuntil the last weekend in October. I even ***eated several times that I was done with school at that point and had no need for anything beyond that. The *** never mentioned that the plan would automatically renew, and I would have absolutely canceled right away if I had known.I was required to sign a document on my phone to be matched with a tutor. I signed under the impression that it was strictly for the one month I needed. At no point was it explained to me that the contract auto-renews or that I needed to proactively cancel. Today, I was shocked to receive a charge for another full month. When I called, I was told, its in the terms you signedbut those terms were never clearly explained. The platform also did not show anywhere obvious when my hours ended or that I needed to take action to stop renewal.This feels deceptive and predatory. Varsity Tutors took advantage of a lack of transparency to scam me into paying for an extra month of extremely high costs I neither wanted nor needed. A trustworthy company would make auto-renewal terms clear and confirm them verbally at sign-up, especially when a customer ***eatedly states they only wish to use the service for a single month. Instead, they hide behind fine print while ignoring what their ***s tell customers.I cannot recommend ********************** to anyone. Their business model relies on confusing customers and locking them into charges they didnt agree to.

      After initial contact with the tutoring agency, it was portrayed as a pay as you go service and not a monthly membership plan. Today, Oct 26, 2025, I noticed a charge to my account in the amount of $349. I called Varsity Tutors and let them know that I was no longer needing their service because I was hospitalized and had to drop out of the semester due to health reasons and still recovering going thru treatment. He said that there was nothing he could do about the pending charge. The billing cycle for the initial payment was from Sept 26, 2025 to Oct 25, 2025. The new charge showed up Oct 26, 2025. I canceled my subscription but they were happy to take my money.

      I was charged $349.00 for a one-month Varsity Tutors plan. When I first opened my account, I specifically selected the option not to auto-renew. I only intended to use the service for one month. Despite this, I was charged again for another month today 10/23/2025 without my consent.When I noticed the unauthorized renewal charge, I immediately contacted Varsity Tutors to request a refund. I explained that I had already opted out of auto-renewal at sign-up and never authorized another payment. However, the company refused to refund my money and stated that renewals are non-refundable, even though I had not agreed to any renewal.The renewal charge was unauthorized and contradicts my account settings. I was not notified of any pending renewal, and the platform provided no clear or accessible way to prevent this charge. I believe this is a deceptive billing practice.Resolution requested:I am requesting a full refund of the unauthorized $349.00 charge and written confirmation that my account has been permanently canceled to prevent further billing.

      Varsity tutors has deceptive sales practices. I signed up for a tutoring plan for SAT prep for my son and clearly explained that he would be taking the test the following month so we only needed one month's worth of classes. The very pushy salesperson assured me that we could just do one month and did not mention that I was signing up for a recurring subscription. I apparently missed this detail in the fine print, but that was because I was not looking for it based on what the salesperson had told me. I would like a refund for the $349 I was charged for the second month.
