BGE marketing budget billing. There comments are that they will spread the yearly cost over 12 months so you have consistent payments. I have been in this house for 8 years and my budget billing went up once, 3 years ago. I just received my bill and found I had a $1385 balance on my account. No where is it documented that you will run a negative balance. The bills are very unclear and the balance is hidden in small print on the second page of the bill. My request is that they discontinue the marketing of this feature or provide very detailed instructions of how this works, that you can build a negative balance over time. The account was in my mothers name and unfortunately she passed away 3/31/25. I called bge and reported this and asked to start an account in my name but was told that I had to send them proof of death. Meanwhile they said that I could start the process of starting my own account and when I sent them the death certificate I could seamlessly transfer the account over into my own account. Well unfortunately no one did there job and after I sent the death certificate they shut off my power with no notice to me **** ***. I have tried calling with no response other than we will call you back using an automated system. I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old and I have health issues. I have no power, all my food has went rotten. I have to pay for an hotel for a few days until I can get a call back and god only knows when the power will go back on.Business Response

since i moved into my apartment i have not been able to access my BGE account to pay any of my bills and they are now charging me a late fee of ~300$ and i've tried contacting them several times to rectify this issue and access my account. they finally called me back this morning and then procceded to "transfer" me to their billing department and then i was promptly dropped from the call. I wish to get in contact with BGE to first access my account and I want them to drop the late fees that they fraudulently assigned to my account after denying me access to said account. this is unacceptable behavior from the only gas and electric company in the area functioning as monoply. they also said that I signed up for budget billing which I never did which is also fraudulent behaviorBusiness Response

I tried to make a payment arrangement to pay the 106 past due I have that Im being told will cause my services to be cut off and being told I can not because a previous payment arrangement I had was paid a day late because I was out of town for a funeral and BGE did not care they have it as though I didnt pay it and neglected to when I reached out and explained to them they disregard it and here I am now can not make an arrangement because of it I would like them to allow me to make the arrangements so my service wont be turned off as I have no other choice but to use them and its not that much and would be paid I have to pay over 2000 in rent right now so the arrangement would allow me to pay their money and get it caught up within a month I thing it unfair because of a death and I made a day late not even ************************************************* to do so with all these others out here not paying at all or trying too and owe way more than me yet services still onBusiness Response

I double paid them in March. They acknowledged and said I will receive a refund check by April 3 April 3rd No check I called they said they never send checks but credited a credit card ending in 4137 I called ************ they said I never had a credit card or debit card or checking account ending in 4137.. I have called 4 -5 times to BGE spent countless of hours on hold, including right now 4PM 5-29 two hours !!!. They have my $252 and no answers. Please helpBusiness Response

This company, because it monopolizes the gas and electric in our area, randomly increases our bill over 200%. It is happening in *************, ***********, Baltimore city, *********, ********, and all the surrounding areas. They are set to increase yet again in June. They are forcing families to choose between rent/mortgage and heating (during winter) their home. Many have gotten their service to check to see if the meter is misreading. It never is misreading. This company needs to be reviewed at the federal level and bring justice to the families that have been suffering the past 18 months due to monopolization and greed.Business Response

I just need my account number per the requirements to move into my new apartment, for goodness. sake. This company will NOT answer the phone at 7am, which is the time they open and the time Ive had to wake up every day just to try and get someone on the phone to absolutely no avail. I am running on little to no sleep because I work two jobs, and this is a complete waste of my time and energy. At 7am?!?!?, their automated response is were experiencing high call volumes even when they open. SECONDS into opening is not enough time to accumulate high call volumes. They tell me that I can request a call back in the order that I called (first)-four hours from when I called?!? As opposed to just waiting in line??? WHAT IS THE POINT?!? And then they decided to just cancel the callbacks, so theres literally no point in calling. I dont mind being ignored if someone at ******************** would be kind enough to HELP me rather than tell me to try again, KNOWING BGE could care less about their poor customer service.I shouldnt even have to do this. If this affects my move-in, I definitely will be happy to do business with another apartment company altogether so I dont have to ever deal with BGE again. I definitely view the apartment complex differently as a result of BGEs complete negligence for new customers.Business Response

Since moving to the area in 2020 we have had many power outages in our area. Over 20 electric company employees have come out and stated that BG&E needs to replace all the power lines and have needed to do so for years in the area but they refuse to pay to have the work done. This is not a house problem but an entire neighborhood issue. There is no other power company to go with since they run a monopoly in the Baltimore area. Power lines droop dangerously low just above fence tops and the technicians have stated BG&E refuse their requests to approve changing the whole power line. I am filing this on behalf of my entire community in hopes that somebody will hold BG&E responsible as I have had hundreds of dollars in food thrown out because of these power outages caused by neglect fraud waste and abuse.Business Response
