BGE has been overcharging me for electricity for the past 4 months. My meter settings for the first 3 months of the year have not changed, but my energy use (per BGE) has almost tripled. I called the company and was on hold for 2 hours and then hung up on. I called back and was on hold for another 1.5 hours before I could speak to a customer service agent who told me that this winter was colder than last winter so that is why my heat went up. Ridiculous! I've been in the house for 5 years, with the same settings, and I even use less because I commute to work once a week now (compared to full time work from home for the past 4 years). I was also told that someone would call me back to arrange for my meter to be checked. It's almost 4 weeks and I've not received a cal or email (which I specifically asked for). This company is gouging customers and it should be stopped. I am currently looking into switching to solar power but in the meantime, my bills are skyrocketing and I don't have the means to continue paying for the overcharges that the company doesn't seem to want to address. I wish someone would advocate for us as consumers since we have few other choices for energy suppliers in my area.
