Before I commence, I wish to formally request that **** refrain from contacting me via telephone, particularly on recorded lines, as such actions infringe upon my rights as stipulated by Maryland ****** this context, I endeavored to apply for a graduate program commencing in Fall 2025, given my status as a laid-off federal employee (*****/DOGE initiative). Subsequently, **** issued a bill for an alleged 2013 abatement concerning an application I do not recall submitting, amounting to $50. I have requested the removal of this charge from my account; however, they have declined my request, insisting that I am obligated to pay for a debt that is not mine.Even if this charge were indeed valid, my wrongful termination has rendered me unable to afford this payment, as I am currently insolvent. This abatement is obstructing my ability to enroll in their classes, as they are compelling me to settle a debt I did not incur. Consequently, I have chosen to withdraw from the program. Nevertheless, they continue to inundate me with unsolicited mail, including invitations to register for classes. If they maintain that a $50 abatement will hinder my registration, why are they simultaneously sending me spam urging me to enroll? This situation exemplifies the reasons behind the negative reputation of this institution, and it may be in my best interest to refrain from attending.Initial Complaint

In May, I applied to the University of Maryland Global Campus, and I thought the classes fit my needs. With that said, upon realizing that those were not the classes to obtain a teaching licence, I had to withdraw. When I first applied,d there was not application fee. Due to me withdrawing from the school I received calls and emails stating that I need to pay a cost of $50.00 even though I withdrew from the school.Business Response

I am a full-time student and veteran at ****. I rely on a combination of federal student loans and my Post-9/11 ** Bill to support my education and living expenses. I recently discoveredonly by calling the schoolthat **** had stopped accepting loan adjustment requests without notifying students. As a result, I am now left with $0 in my bank account, no income, and no financial aid support while I wait for the ** Bill to process. The amount in question is the expected loan refund that would normally help cover rent, utilities, and food while attending school full-time. **** committed to processing federal aid and supporting students through loan disbursements, but instead has left me stranded without warning. When I called the Financial Aid office, I was told I wont receive any funds until around June 15, even though I am enrolled and actively attending classes now.The nature of this dispute is that **** made a unilateral policy change, failed to communicate it to affected students, and has not offered any form of emergency financial assistance or alternative solution. I have already been denied for personal loans and have no other resources to stay afloat.I reached out to ****'s Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs offices but have not received any meaningful support beyond generic answers. Their inaction has pushed me to the edge of homelessness, which is completely unacceptable.I am seeking accountability and emergency financial support or early disbursement of funds to avoid further harm.Initial Complaint

Ive contacted **** Financial Aid office multiple times about when I should receive my financial Aid. Each time I contact them I have been giving a different time frame. I have explained to them multiple times how I need my financial aid asap as without it I will be homeless. I get told o should receive it Tuesday so I tell my rental office Tuesday. It doesnt come. Then I get told Thursday which is today and it still doesnt come. So at this point my rental office no longer can take my word because everytime I tell them the date Ive been told by UMGC it doesnt come. And all **** is concerned is me dropping classes and I informed them multiple times without my financial aid I will be dropping out of school completely. Its no reason to be enrolled in classes when you have no home, no internet, or no food. What they expect me to complete classes sleeping on the side of the street? My next actions are to file a lawsuitInitial Complaint

I am a former student of **** who had to medically withdraw due to an appendectomy and recovery. After my withdrawal, I was unexpectedly charged for courses I never completed. **** claimed that financial aid didnt cover anything and that I owed money due to a refund. However, I never received the full refund amount they referenced, and no one from the school could explain the breakdown of the charges.I contacted **** multiple times over the years for clarification and never received a clear answer. Instead of working with me, they sent the debt to collections without notifying me or giving me a chance to resolve the issue. As a result, two separate charges have sat on my credit, damaging my score and affecting my financial standing.I have disputed this with credit agencies numerous times, but the issue remains unresolved. I believe this debt was mishandled from the start and should never have been sent to collectionsespecially without proper communication or documentationInitial Complaint

I stated attending the University of Maryland Global Campus in 02/2025. While attending the College professor **** ******* did not give clear instructions to complete assignments. Professor ******* advised me my writing was horrible and then stated I could resubmit assignments that was discussed with clarified instructions. I then resubmitted the assignments and they were not graded. During this course I was treated unfairly and misguided. I have decided to transfer to another University. I have reached out to the deans office and received no response. I deserve for my assignments to be graded and not ignored.Customer Answer

My request is for the university to respond when a student in need of services and professors should grade all assignments as they are contracted and instructed to do so, I am entitled to fair treatment and my basic requests should not be ignored and disregarded.Initial Complaint

****'s negligent advising forced my redundant CMAP 605 (Cybersecurity) enrollment. On 1/8/25, Shortly after the commencement of classes, I began receiving email notifications indicating that one of my enrolled courses, specifically CMAP 605 (Foundations of ************************** was not applicable to my designated degree plan. This discrepancy caused immediate concern, as I had meticulously planned my academic path with my advisor with the understanding that all enrolled courses would contribute to my degree.Over the following five weeks, I made numerous attempts to rectify this issue by contacting various departments within ****. I consistently reached out to the advising team, the financial aid department, and the veteran certification office, explaining the discrepancy and seeking clarification. For five weeks, they repeatedly assured me, verbally and via email, it was valid, despite clear discrepancies. Later, another advisor discovered my Bachelor's credits weren't transferred, making CMAP 605 redundant as I already had equivalent credit. I sought a $2082 refund for the 8-week course, citing ****'s misadvising, credit transfer failure, and prolonged misinformation. **** denied this, claiming no error, despite clear evidence of their negligence and poor interdepartmental communication. This caused financial hardship, anxiety, and eroded trust. I demand a full refund due to their proven errors.Initial Complaint

Over the last three weeks, I have been chatting with University of Maryland global campus in order to determine how many classes I would need to take if I did an undergrad there. I currently already have an undergrad and one masters degree and Im working on a second. **** advertises on their website That they will provide one unofficial evaluation for an undergrad program. I filled out the paperwork requested for this to be done and sent them the necessary documents. I received an email several days later that because this was my second bachelors degree that they were unable to do this. This doesnt make any sense to me for transcript evaluation to occurred in an undergraduate degree. It would strike me that you either already have one or be have partially completed one. I spoke with customer service several times and they tried to give me excuses about how I needed to actually apply to the school and send official transcripts because I already had a bachelors degree. The organization was unable to explain the * behind this and furthermore, it says nothing about this on the website and they said nothing about this in the email. I clearly represented from the get-go that I already had an undergraduate degree. Furthermore, now Im receiving spam phone calls which I wasnt receiving prior. I again today contacted customer service to try and figure out what was going on instead of them trying to assist me in what was going on. They tried to troubleshoot their own department. Ive gotten nowhere with this organization and furthermore, *** never experienced this at any other school. All I wanted was an unofficial evaluation of my transcripts for an undergraduate program like the website says, and like they advertise.Initial Complaint

I paid over $1,300 for one 8 week Biology course which began in September. The Professor is completely absent from the course, does not grade assignments, does not respond to e-mails and does not respond to discussion posts. The class is scheduled to end tomorrow and I haven't received any grades or feedback on assignments from Week 3 on in order to study for the final. I would like the department to please grade my assignments so that I can study and complete the final before the due date tomorrow.Initial Complaint

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) Deceptive and predatory practices. On August 31, 2024, I applied to **** under the understanding that the application fee was waived, as advertised. The application process did not prompt me to make any payment, which led me to believe that the free application period was still active. However, a few days later, I received a call from a **** representative inquiring about my interests, followed by an unexpected bill for the application fee on the same day. When I questioned the fee, I was informed that the free application offer had ended. I did not receive any communication indicating that I had been accepted to the university, nor did I accept any offer of enrollment.I believe that ***** actions are misleading and unethical for the following reasons:1. **Lack of Clarity and Transparency:** There was no clear indication that the free application period had ended, nor was there any prompt to pay an application fee at the time of submission.2. **Premature Billing:** I was billed for an application fee despite not being provided an option to pay during the application process. If the fee was not waived, the application should not have been processed without payment.3. **Forced Enrollment:** I have concerns that **** may be auto-enrolling applicants without their explicit consent, thereby generating enrollment records and fees under false pretenses.4. **Privacy Concerns:** Given the above, I am also worried about the security of my personal information, including my Social Security number, which I provided during the application process.I sent a letter to **** requesting the removal of my application and personal information from their records as I no longer trust the integrity of the institution. I am seeking your assistance in ensuring that my information is securely removed from their databases and that I am not held responsible for any application fees or enrollment actions.
