I am a current **** student. I am filing this complaint due to repeated, unresolved problems that have affected my education, finances, and access to accommodations.I filed an *** complaint in June/July 2025 after my professor failed to respond to accommodation requests. **** has a 48-hour email policy, but it took 15 days to get a response, and the ************************* could not reach the professor. The issue had to be escalated to higher administration and remains unresolved.I was given a zero on an assignment posted after the course closed, unfairly impacting my grade. When I asked about tuition assistance, I was told nothing was available; later I discovered via email I was eligible for a 25% discount, which was only applied after I raised it myself.Transcript processing has also been mishandled: on two occasions, my transcripts were not added to the list, sitting unprocessed for a week or months until I called staff. Combined with site malfunctions, these administrative errors slowed my progress.UMGCs communication has been inconsistent and extremely slow, leaving students to chase their own concerns. I am requesting expedited resolution of my *** ********** correction of grading errors, clear disclosure of financial assistance, and improved administrative efficiency and communication.

I looked for information about University of Maryland Global (like other universities). I signed into their website to get more detailed information. I was not asked to pay or if I was, I decided to not purse this college. Next think I know, I received a bill from Maryland Global just for an inquiry. I did speak with someone and they agreed to remove the amount, yet now it is on my credit report. I researched several universities at the time and this is a very deceptive practice. They need to remove this fee --not sure what is for.

Before I commence, I wish to formally request that **** refrain from contacting me via telephone, particularly on recorded lines, as such actions infringe upon my rights as stipulated by Maryland ****** this context, I endeavored to apply for a graduate program commencing in Fall 2025, given my status as a laid-off federal employee (*****/DOGE initiative). Subsequently, **** issued a bill for an alleged 2013 abatement concerning an application I do not recall submitting, amounting to $50. I have requested the removal of this charge from my account; however, they have declined my request, insisting that I am obligated to pay for a debt that is not mine.Even if this charge were indeed valid, my wrongful termination has rendered me unable to afford this payment, as I am currently insolvent. This abatement is obstructing my ability to enroll in their classes, as they are compelling me to settle a debt I did not incur. Consequently, I have chosen to withdraw from the program. Nevertheless, they continue to inundate me with unsolicited mail, including invitations to register for classes. If they maintain that a $50 abatement will hinder my registration, why are they simultaneously sending me spam urging me to enroll? This situation exemplifies the reasons behind the negative reputation of this institution, and it may be in my best interest to refrain from attending.

In May, I applied to the University of Maryland Global Campus, and I thought the classes fit my needs. With that said, upon realizing that those were not the classes to obtain a teaching licence, I had to withdraw. When I first applied,d there was not application fee. Due to me withdrawing from the school I received calls and emails stating that I need to pay a cost of $50.00 even though I withdrew from the school.

****'s negligent advising forced my redundant CMAP 605 (Cybersecurity) enrollment. On 1/8/25, Shortly after the commencement of classes, I began receiving email notifications indicating that one of my enrolled courses, specifically CMAP 605 (Foundations of ************************** was not applicable to my designated degree plan. This discrepancy caused immediate concern, as I had meticulously planned my academic path with my advisor with the understanding that all enrolled courses would contribute to my degree.Over the following five weeks, I made numerous attempts to rectify this issue by contacting various departments within ****. I consistently reached out to the advising team, the financial aid department, and the veteran certification office, explaining the discrepancy and seeking clarification. For five weeks, they repeatedly assured me, verbally and via email, it was valid, despite clear discrepancies. Later, another advisor discovered my Bachelor's credits weren't transferred, making CMAP 605 redundant as I already had equivalent credit. I sought a $2082 refund for the 8-week course, citing ****'s misadvising, credit transfer failure, and prolonged misinformation. **** denied this, claiming no error, despite clear evidence of their negligence and poor interdepartmental communication. This caused financial hardship, anxiety, and eroded trust. I demand a full refund due to their proven errors.

The Computer Science and Information Security Departments sell courses that are not ready for student consumption. Effectively, the product being sold is a 'lemon' and there is no due diligence put forth to make courses reasonably free of bugs. In fact reliance of this testing and "quality control" is solely on the students themselves, the paying customer - who expect (by nature of their purchase) to be given a course and course material (products) that are reasonably free of defects. This is not the case. I would like to see proof that the school performs quality control checks via dated documentation. I would also like to see internal practice documentation that outlines steps necessary for quality control on courses (with due respect to technologies used, website links, etc) performed on classes prior to selling them to students. This action must be done annually at the very least. Or else a 'buyer beware' should be posted for each class not in compliance with quality control checks disclosing to students that 'the course may not be ready for usage and quality control cannot be guaranteed'. The courses not checked for quality control should be sold at a discount, as the product is experimental at best.Without this information, the buyer(student) cannot make informed consent on the purchase of the courses at any given time.

University of Maryland Global Campus allowed me to graduate in 2016 after an intervention from you the Better Business Bureau to UMGC on my behalf. I attended the graduation ceremony in May 2017. Now coming to find out today, 07/08/2023 from a Success Coach Team member that my academic records showed as being on Academic Probation and not graduated. I thought the problem with the university has been resolved, unbeknownst it has not. UMGC has been bothering me to review its university but after much consideration, I refused to do so. I finished its biotechnology program but I have failed to secure/find a job, which is very disappointing to me as I worked hard to finish my degree. My request is to have my Academic Records straightening out/corrected as having been graduated and no longer a student/pursuing additional classes. My Academic Record as it is now, it showing as I am on Academic Probation. Thanks!

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response.  If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I hope the university does not repeat it again as it is an ongoing pattern with the university and me trying to blackmail me. I am not its puppet. I genuinely finished my master's program which I worked very hard at. I took a class which I should not have taken but needed to take in order for me to have financial aid/grants. I hope my dealings with the university has been resolved once and for all. Thank you very for this matter being resolved, hopefully.

    Regards,
