I purchased a used transmission on 3/10/23 for $2094.75. (The reference invoice number is R T S zero three two three two seven eight five nine.) After it finally arrived (after 4 weeks), our mechanic inspected it and deemed it defective and non-functional so he did not install it into my car. After contacting the company to file a warranty claim, it took more than 2.5 months for them to respond with a solution - the manager agreed (verabally and in writing) that they would refund the money immediately once they received the transmission back in their warehouse. The transmission was shipped and received by Ready To Start at the end of May and they have not refunded my money. The manager also admitted that they do not have any certificates of authentication to prove that the transmission was properly inspected and deemed functional at the time that they sold and shipped it to me. They keep telling me that they will call or email with a resolution, but I have received no such communication thus far. I demand a full refund.Business Response

On May 15th, we purchased a motor from RTS for $1933.00, Order # RTS052329134. We had called about several different motors so had specific questions regarding the transaction. Spoke to ***** of company and 2 of main questions about the process were, "Was there a core fee" and "Process of returning motor if not satisfactory". ***** told us, (speaker phone) that there was not a core fee and if for any reason the motor was not satisfactory, it could be returned, and they would send us a shipping label for return shipping fee. I repeated this to him, to confirm that is what he said. We received motor on 5/24/23 and upon inspection, it looked as though it had come through a flood, there is rust, dirt and corrosion on and in the motor, valve Trane and intake system which will cause to not operate effectively. 8 out of *************************************** the intake. This is not acceptable for our purchase. 6/6/23 I called RTS and was transferred to ****** and he said there was NO WARRANTY available to us and to put the motor in and then let him know what parts needed to be replaced. I told him that was unsatisfactory, and my husband would not spend needless time to do that when the motor was not in the condition we agreed to purchase. He said that to return, we would need to pay both shipping to and from plus a restocking fee of $484.00 and they would return $1049.00. This is not acceptable because of what we were told at time of purchase. 6/7/23, I called our credit card company to file a dispute on the charge, already paid in full. On 6/7, I called ****** back and the company had received the dispute and he said that until the dispute was dropped, they would not send a shipping label nor discuss further, it had to be through their legal team. I told him that we wanted a full refund in our account, and a paid return label for shipping and then would drop dispute. We have not heard a word from them since.Business Response

Hi, **** and ****. Our team has thoroughly investigated your case. Considering your request to return the engine without installation, our customer service team has come up with a resolution. This involves arranging a pickup for the merchandise and proceeding with a refund, while accounting for shipment and restocking fees. However, during this process, we were informed by the bank that you have filed a dispute. It's important to note that once a dispute has been filed, our ability to manage the order is limited.
Additionally, we kindly ask you to take into account that the motor in question is 24 years old and has been used. As with any older engine, there may be components that require replacement or modification for optimal performance. We have already provided you with photographs of the motor from various angles to provide transparency.
We want to emphasise that we are still more than willing to arrange the pickup of the unit and proceed with the refund as previously discussed.Initial Complaint

In an attempt to resolve the matter, our team made multiple attempts to contact you but were unable to reach you. As a result, we sent an email to address the issue. However, once a dispute is initiated with the bank, we may not have direct control over the funds. In the meantime, we recommend contacting your bank to gather more information and clarify the details of the dispute.

I purchased an engine from Ready To start auto parts for $1174.00 on 5/9/2023 for a **** ***** Odyssey 3.5L the part was delivered at the mechanic shop. I asked them over the phone about the guarantee on the engine and Rio ******* confirm that I will have a full refund if the part have any issue. When the mechanic installed it the engine started to smoke and leak. It was a broken engine they sent. Now instead of refunding my money they're asking for a video of the engine smoking. Looking for way to hold on to my hard earn money. The mechanic told me this engine was a bad engine. They told me the mileage on it was 62K, When I asked them to show proof they become dismissive and can't provide the proof. This is a ************ looking to take advantage of hard working folks. I will also report it the the *********************** of my state. These Scammers need to be STOP. I want my full refund now they just dragging their feet to make this process run longer.Business Response

Hi Ms ******* our team has investigated your case. You contacted us on 06/06/2023 to report a defective motor that is not functioning and emitting smoke. We acknowledged the issue and requested relevant proof in the form of a video and a service document from your mechanic. However, we have not received any form of proof from you. Instead, you have contacted us via phone and email, requesting us to arrange for the merchandise to be picked up.
According to our warranty policies, in order to process a claim for a replacement or refund, we require valid proof demonstrating and confirming the issue with the merchandise. Unfortunately, our warranty team is unable to approve any claim without proper proof and documentation. We kindly request that you contact our customer service team with the necessary evidence (video proof and service document proving the defective installation of the merchandise). Once we receive this information, our team will initiate the appropriate steps for a replacement or refund.Customer Answer

When I purchased the engine this business claimed that the engine was inspected and the engine is only 62K miles and they claimed that they give a warranty on the engine. Now that the engine malfunctioned they are asking me to have it inspected by a mechanic which will cost me since the mechanic will not do it for free. I asked them for the inspection report of the engine prior to selling it to me and the proof of the 62K miles they claimed the engine was. The mechanic asked them for the form they needed to file that report they wouldn't provide. They can't prove the engine was functional. They want me to pay $1500 for the mechanic to put the engine back to make a video they are asking for while they can get the engine and get it inspected themselves. I am not a mechanic shop, I don't sell vehicle parts online. What they are asking me to do is just to hold my money on a part that was faulty to begin with. I don't want a replacement. Just get my money back.

Purchased a used transmission from *** on March 10th, 2023 for $2094.75. Delivery timeframe was **** business days, however, it was delivered after 15 business days. It seems they did not actually have the transmission at their warehouse and had to source one, so they charged us for a part that they technically could not provide - FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. The mechanic working on my car inspected the transmission and found that it was faulty and could not be used so he did not install it into my car. Again, FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICES. We called the *** warranty department to either 1) get a new functional transmission sent to us or 2) get our refund. They gave us the run around for several weeks, then closed out our case without resolution or explanation. We had to call back and start the **************** again. And again, they have been giving us the run-around. Their faulty transmission was shipped back to their warehouse 2 weeks ago and they still have not issued a refund.Business Response

****************. We shipped a transmission to you that had undergone testing, inspection, and was in proper working condition. However, upon receiving the transmission, you contacted us to report that it was defective. We acknowledged your complaint and requested proof and valid documentation to proceed with either a replacement or a refund. Regrettably, your mechanic failed to provide us with any service documents or pictures of our merchandise, instead sending us pictures of your old transmission.
At this stage, you stepped in and provided the necessary documentation as per our request. Following our policy, we arranged for the pickup of our merchandise. Once we received and inspected the unit, we discovered that it had been tampered with and several internal parts were missing. As a result, your warranty claim was rejected because tampering with the unit voids the warranty. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this situation.Customer Answer

The transmission was not tampered with by the mechanic. He had to take it off the crate and inspect it prior to installing it in the car - so obviously it was opened and inspected. The *** manager cannot provide documentation that the transmission was in working condition prior to shipping it to me. As such, I do not accept ***'s claim that it was working prior to shipment. Their claim that the mechanic cannot provide any documentation for the transmission is also false as *** never contacted the mechanic even though the manager said he would in order to resolve the issue. He also verbally promised to refund us as soon as they receive the transmission back. They now have their transmission back and can re-sell it back someone else, while also keeping our $2094.75. This seems to be a typical practice for them, based on previous complaints on here.

I purchased an LS motor for my Chevrolet Silverado 5.3l, in January of this year. I had to save the money up in order to have the motor installed in my truck. After taking the motor to the shop they dismantled the motor and found that the valves on the intake were full of water, the stems of the valves and the valve seats were corroded. I was informed that it would cost $1,500 in order to do the valve job to repair the motor so I could install it in my truck. Ready to Start guaranteed me that they had this motor, running and operating and was was ready to install when I purchased it from them. They also said that they pressure wash every motor before it gets shipped. I assume that is where the water got in, because it was in there for awhile. I paid the sum of $1,095 for the motor. So now I am left with having to do a valve job on a motor that was supposed to be ready to install in my vehicle. Instead of costing $2,000 to install the motor in my truck it is now costing me $3,500. I contacted ready to start to find out if this warranty would cover it, they said it did, and made an offer of $300 to cover my valve job. I asked if there was any way that they could cover at least half of $750 and I would cover the rest. The customer service representative, *******, said he would have to get permission from some one higher up. He came back to me with the offer of $300 again. I asked to speak with a representative that was higher up then him, (not that he wasn't doing a good job, he was), ******* put me in touch with a ****** in customer relations the next day. *** listened to my side, and after I told him I do many reviews on ****** for the businesses I deal with, at which point he got aggressive and began to yell and talk over me that he will not be threatened while I calmly tried to explain, he was saying that there was no way he could pay me that much after he paid for the shipping and didn't charge me a core charge and gave me a deal, finally hanging up on me.Business Response

I purchased an engine from this company with the impression that I would have a 3 year warranty and an engine with less than 36k miles on it. I was not aware when getting the engine installed that there were issues with the engine. The old mechanic at J and N auto didnt make me aware that the engine was no good. They said they just installed it. From the date of installation the car was still running rough and so I got other repairs done thinking it would resolve the issue. I was told by my Mechanic at Royal auto that the engine was bad has a bad timing chain and that was the knocking noise I heard. I told him I just purchased the engine and was told it was like new with less than 30k miles he said cant be the timing chain is warped this engine is no good. I was also told it had a 3 year warranty on it. After receiving the invoice it says the warranty is 90 days . I couldnt cancel the order because I would be charged 25% of what I paid and very unfair. Tried emailing and contacting them by phone and spoke with their very rude head of operations guy by the name of ************************* who from the time he answered my call was very rude and had his aggressive tone towards me. I spoke with him in a manner I wanted to be dealt with he claims I was demanding and never once was I. I asked about the things that was told to me and he took offense . Never have I dealt with such unpleasant people in customer service. I spent too much money to have my car operating properly. I have the receipts and just want my money back so I can get a new engine with a better warranty.Business Response

Hi, ********************** We're sorry to hear about this experience and will certainly look into it. Unfortunately, we're unable to give you a resolution as your order is way out of warranty. We had this merchandise delivered on 10/10/22 and we offer a standard warranty of 90 days starting the day you receive the merchandise. Any defects or damages have to be reported within the given warranty timeframe. And we haven't received any kind of communication from your end about any engine troubles until 05/08/23 which is way after your warranty ran out. Attached is a copy of your invoice with our warranty policies. We never promise any of our clients a warranty beyond 90 days. The invoice was sent to you the same day as the order was placed and you've received 8 emails updating you with the status of the order. And we've never received any complaints or cancellation requests from you until this month. The engine came out of a running vehicle and was tested and inspected, guaranteed to fit and work. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. We'll be happy to help you with a good discount if you're considering buying a replacement engine,. In no way did we intend on being rude. We were just trying to be clear about the warranty terms.
