1 starI had a 24 hour rental to start at 1pm on 8/5/23. The car is parked at a Zipcar street spot a few blocks from where I live. At 12 noon, I get a text to pick up a different car at least an hour away across town. No prior warning at all! I call Zipcar and after 10 min on hold, the Zipcar agent is unable to tell me why my reservation changed. I am unable to scramble across town to get this other car and have to cancel my entire day's plans. In fact, the original car that I booked is actually now reserved by someone else from 11am to 1pm and then 1pm to late in the evening. The agent is unable to tell me why the car I reserved and paid for was taken away from me and given to two others. I find this totally unacceptable and need to find a more reliable alternative for my future needs.Review fromOcheyhasa O

1 starZipcar customer service is the worst they find ways to bill u extra money and when u give up trying to fight it cause u will always be wrong they don't give u a chance to pay it so then ure account gets CANCELED and u get sent to collections. When all u want to do is pay what u owe Zipcar Support ***** I can't believe how long I have been trying to make payment with cc but they won't allow me to update cc info. Something really has to give it is not fare to be treated this wayReview fromKathleen G

1 starNever again! They charged my daughter a "young driver" fee and then proceeded to give her a completely unsafe car. A tire blew on a major interstate and they blamed her for not using thier roadside assistance and choosing to have a good samaritan change the tire so she could get off the dangerous and busy highway. Took car to Discount Tire and all four tires were deemed underinflated and needing replacement. Called company, reported issue and asked for refund. They said "no" becuase she drove the car after the tire was changed. Currently disputing transaction with CC. This incident could have resulted in a tragic accident. So disappointed.Review fromNicole D

1 starI've been using Zipcar every summer for 5-6 years because I need it for work and every year there has been a nightmare experience - or more than one - with appalling customer service and I cannot wait to cancel my membership. I should have canceled last year after I was accidentally overcharged $1500 because of an error in their system and had to call at least 20 times to get it resolved with no apology. Last week, my reservation got changed at the last minute because the car I reserved was taken out of service. I had that car reserved for this week as well and confirmed with Zipcar yesterday that the car was back in service and they shared not only was it back in service but it was clean and in great condition. However, this was not the case. I picked up the car today and it was absolutely filthy, just disgusting - crumbs, food, pet hair, dirt, bottles, wrappers, garbage everywhere - and once I got outside of the parking garage, I also realized the right mirror was taped on. I called Zipcar to report the awful conditions and was told my complaints would be escalated and I would receive an email later regarding the compensation I requested. I was also told that the car should not even be in service with that mirror yet somehow it was. I followed up with Zipcar after only receiving an email that my complaint was filed, and again detailed all of the issues, and was told all they could do was offer me 15 minutes of driving credit which is equal to $4.50. My reservations each week are $500-600 and a $4.50 credit is insulting and laughable. They told me there was absolutely nothing they could do. Horrible company.Review fromBrian W

1 starMonday, July 24, **** I leased a Zipcar for 24 hours. From 6:00 AM Saturday, July 22 until 6:00 AM Sunday, July 23.1.When I first entered the car, it appeared clean; so, I clicked 5/5 for Cleanliness.2.About 6 hours into my trip, I noticed pet hairs on the back seat and took two photos of the seats and reported them at that time.3.I returned the car Saturday evening, July 22 at about 7:15PM with a full tank of gas . almost 11 hours before it was due and clicked on End Trip.4.Today, Monday, July24, I received a notice that another member reported the interior of the car was quite dirty (pet hair). As you should be aware of our expectations and Community Rules, you are being charged $50 to offset the cost of the cleaning.5.This is total nonsense. I am being penalized for not reporting the pet hair immediately upon entering the car?6.I dont have a pet and if I did why in the world would I report my own violation of the Community Rules? What other option did I have after noticing the pet hair later during my trip? Not report it and hope some other driver down the line gets blamed for it?Did the person who rent the car take a picture of the pet hairs? Who rented the car before I did?7. I paid $221.07 for the 10-hour use of that car and got charged a cleaning fee for pet hair that I myself reported.I have been a Zipcar member for 15 years. Last three digits XXX949 of my membership card.************************* ************* ** *****Zipcar, Inc.

1 starMy encounter with Zipcar on July 8, 2023, was a complete disaster. I had reserved a car from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, hoping for a smooth experience, but it turned into a nightmare. The car I received was filthy with food, dirt, and cigarillo remnants. Exiting the parking garage was a hassle due to the missing parking card, causing a 10+ minute delay. The car's nauseating smell made the ride unbearable.Despite returning the car at 12:08 PM, only eight minutes late due to the initial delay, I was charged extra. **************** offered just 30 minutes and $20 credit, which was unsatisfactory.Worse still, a $50 late fee and $8 extra hour charge were imposed. When I asked for a refund, I was told it was against their policy. Zipcar failed to take responsibility for my horrendous experience.I had hoped that Zipcar would take responsibility for their mistakes and take measures to prevent such experiences for future customers, but unfortunately, that was not the case. As a result, I am left with a profoundly negative impression of the company and their services.Zipcar, Inc.

1 starAt first I thought that zipcar was the best thing since sliced bread. Until I had an incident. The day before I got paid, they tried to charge my card $111, and it did not go through. So the next day when I got paid, I immediately tried to resolve the request for the funds on the app. I had more than enough to cover the $111, plus I was willing to pay another $129, for an extension of another 24 hours.I had already had the vehicle for 3 days, spending $129 per day. I called them to resolve everything and pay all of it. They told me that I had tried to push the card through to many times, and that zipcar had locked my account. I spent 3 hours on the phone with these people not understanding why that they couldnt just charge the card, and I extend the vehicle. They told me that I had to return the car, and wait 3-5 business days so that my account can be reviewed. I was so upset, they ruined my whole day after I have spent THOUSANDS with this company. The only one that helped me , and was empathetic to my situation was ******, who is called *****. The technical support lady was ABSOLUTELY no help, This was a MAJOR inconvenience for me, and I am so disappointed in zipcar for treating me like this, when the funds were more than available. I WILL NOT RENT from them again, and I am going to let EVERYONE know how they treated me after spending thousands with this company.!!!Review fromLuvlee P

1 starOn June 20, 2023 Unhappy with the way they went about canceling my membership stating I didnt return the car when the car was returned at its location & charged $50 late fee as well. Email was sent until my spam re: the issue I tried to get my account back customer service wasnt helpful stated email was sent I replied back took over week or two to respond back to my response. And they wouldnt reopen my membership this is the email I get. I get this response: activity that was deemed disruptive to the Zipcar community. To limit further impact to our members, we have closed your account. In order for car-sharing to be successful, each and every member must comply with the community rules so that all members can have successful and enjoyable trips. We understand this news may not be pleasant to receive, but please be aware that this decision is final and cannot be reversed. If you have any questions or concerns you can respond directly to this email. We have canceled and refunded any future reservations. We hope you continue to seek out other sustainable means of transportation in the future This is unacceptable as Ive always returned the car on good condition & on timeReview fromIvette P

1 starI have been a Zipcar membership for over 12 years and charged autopay monthly EVP (Extra Value Plan) membership flat fee of $125. The amount of the membership goes directly towards the payment of a Zipcar when reserved. This has been the practice since I first became an EVP monthly member in 2010.In 2021, Zipcar upgraded their datebase system that has cause a nightmare with my monthly credits were not recognized nor could it be applied to reserve a car. It took 2 years to fix that technical issue. Now, in Apr 2023, without any email or account notice, my monthly membership fee is being taxed for City, State and Local tax, adding another $14 charge to my Zipcar autopay monthly membership.I contacted Zipcar regarding this and told them that the policy state, "Taxes are automatically calculated and charged at the time a booking is made. Only applicable taxes will be charged to your booking" But now, I am being charged the taxes for the monthly membership and requested to send me the statement where it exactly states that starting in Apr 2023, my monthly EVP membership will be taxed, along with being taxed again when I reserved a car. I repeatedlty told them AT THEM TIME A BOOKING IS MADE TAXES ARE CHARGED, but am being taxed for the monthly membership that never happened before, and that $125 amount is use as payment as driving credits, to reserve a car, then taxed. Their reply has been a run-around without giving me a detailed answer to where it states in the policy that "EVP are being charged taxes each month to their monthly membership", then charge taxes again when booking to reserve a Zipcar.I need this to be clear and show me where in their policy it states taxes are now charged for monthly membership, since I am now being charged an extra $14 that is tax on my monthly EVP membership.
