    5/23/23 I was text by Unifin.I have called in twice, and was hung up on twice (by the same person). After that, I have left two entries on contact forms from their website. At no time has anyone told me what this is regarding. They appear to be a debt collection firm of some kind, but even that isn't clear to me. It is deeply concerning how this was handled and it put me into fight of flight to have spamy suspect looking text with some random phone number and an account number for something I didn't sign up for, and then when I call in to have some random man with a random accent refusing to tell me what kind of company Unifin is, when I asked directly a number of time; while asking me for personal information. Full details below. This is terrifying for a person who has experienced trauma, and has knowledge of cyber security and scams. Their website is not clear either. Please read below.

    An account under the consumers name was placed with our office by our client to make collection efforts on their behalf. Due to the sensitive nature of the account, **********************'s employees attempted to verify that they were speaking to the correct person before disclosing that the call was in connection with the collection of a debt.  Unfortunately, the consumer refused to verify her identity which prevented Unifins employees from being able to disclose any more detailed information to her. Based on the consumers complaint, Unifin has ceased all communications to the consumer, and the consumers complaint has been returned to our client.

    This agency has fraudulently sent Mail with my personal information to an address that Ive never lived at- **************************************************. Theyve also inaccurately reported this to the credit bureaus as my address. Im requesting that all accounts be removed from collection immediately and this fraudulent reporting to the credit bureaus be rectified immediately!

Per the consumers request that Unfin cease and desist its collection efforts,Unifin has closed the account in its office, ceasing efforts, and returned the account to its client.  Please note that Unifin has never reported the subject account, or a change in address, to the credit reporting agencies. Therefore, Unifin is unable to change or remove any reporting from the consumers credit report. Unifin is returning the account to our client with a copy of the consumers complaint.

    Received an unsolicited text message indicating the creation of an unauthorized Unifin account using my phone number. I responded to it saying "Cancel that account immediately. That account creation is unauthorized." To which I received a generic "you've been unsubscribed" message. I replied "No, I didn't say unsubscribe. I said cancel the account." Failure to do so and I will file a complaint." I received another generic un-subscription message. So, I'm making good on my promise.

    I received a text message from this organization attempting to collect a debt that was charged off back in **** from a company that I have no idea who it even is. This company has never been noted on my credit report. I have requested verification of debt with a wet signature from the original creditor as well as directed this company to *********** laws concerning debt collection practices and statute of limitations. This is crazy!

    I recieved the following text on Monday, 5/15/2023 @ 9:10am:"Welcome to Unifin! Call ** about account # xxxxxxxxxxxx at ********** or *******************. Msg&Date Rates may apply. Reply Help for Help. Reply Stop for Stop."I don't have any debts in collections and I do not know who this is so I sent "HELP". and it replied "Reply STOP unsubscribe."I tried calling the number listed in the text and on their website, but I could not get through. All the numbers called say "This is not a working number".I can't even get in touch with them to tell them they are mistaken.

    This company is trying to collect on a debt that I do not recognize and this debt (said by a customer service agent) is more than 10 years old. There are SOLs in most states. And most states are **** years to collect a debt, except ***** which 20 years. But I am not from ***** and have never lived there.

    Received a text from Unifin that I have a debt. Which is a lie because I paid off all my debts and I dont owe anything to anyone.

    I received a call from a company claiming they were providing me with a courtesy call and to call them back regarding legal papers that were to be served to me on Monday May 8th. It was for J**** R***. I called the number back to tell them they have the wrong number and asked who they were. The gentleman stumbled his words horribly and cited two different company names. One was ******************** and the other was ********************. I told them they were scammers and he started to argue. I guess he assumed I was after all who they called for but I am not! Moments later I received a text message saying welcome to Unifin. These companies are ridiculous and stupid. I request they contact the correct person and cease communication with me immediately. If the attempt is to try and lie to say it wasn't them, I have not only the voice-mail but a recording of the phone call afterwards.

    I reject their response. It is similar to others who filed complaints. They didn't even list the alleged company they were collecting for or my name. However, I have not as of today, been contacted any further. If I receive additional contact via telephone or mail after this response I will open another complaint and attach documentation.

    I am being harassed by Unifin. They repeatedly call my phone. I answered one call today and they were very rude. They refused to identify themselves and the company they were calling from. They would only say it was regarding a personal matter. After they hung up on me claiming they could not verify if they were reaching the intended person, I called the number back and they once again refused to answer who they were or what company they represented. I told them they needed to stop harassing me, they were in violation of the state and national DNC laws. I told them they had to identify themselves and the company and they refused. They thought I was recording the call for some reason and they said I could not record the call and they immediately hung up. They need to stop repeatedly calling, refusing to identify themselves, falsely indicating the nature of the debt and implying they are taking legal action.

    Upon investigation, an account under the consumers name was placed with Unifin by our client to make collection efforts on their behalf.  Unifin has only made one call to the consumer since January 30, 2023, on May 1, 2023.  The consumer answered the May 1, 2023 call,and immediately called Unifin back when the first call was ended.  Due to the sensitive nature of the ******************************'s employees attempted to verify that they were speaking to the correct person before disclosing that the call was in connection with the collection of a debt.  Unifins agents provided their names as well as the company name during both May 1, 2023 contacts per the consumers verbal requests.  Unfortunately, the consumer would not confirm his identity and became abusive towards our employee when the employee stated he would need to verify the consumer before disclosing the nature of the call.  The consumer responded by repeatedly yelling, Shut Up! at the employee, and continued by stating, you are on a recorded line.  Unifins employee felt uncomfortable with the consumers abusive behavior which is why the employee ended the call.  At no point did Unifins employees disclose that the call was in connection with the collection of a debt, and Unifins employees did not mention or reference legal action in any way.  Unifin ceased communications to the consumer upon his assertion that he did not wish to be contacted by Unifin on May 1, 2023.

    I am rejecting this response because: To claim that an attempt to collect a debt is a reason you cannot disclose the reason for calling is ridiculous. I was not abusive to the employee. I did tell them to shut up because they kept talking over me when I was speaking to them about them needing to comply with identifying themselves. I never said I was recording the call, I said they were on a recorded line bc they were recording the call and refusing to cooperate. They did not say they were uncomfortable and that is why they hung up. They literally said that I was not allowed to record the call and hung up. And to answer the reason they claim they are attempting to call me, I have NO accounts in collections. I had accounts in collection about 10 years ago, and when I bought a house in 2018 the last 2 accounts that were showing in collections on my credit report were settled and are now off the credit report. So as far as they are concerned, anything they are "trying to collect" is past statute of limitations and they need to immediately need to cease all contact with me

    Unifin ceased communications to the consumer on May 1, 2023 upon first being notified that he did not wish to be contacted by Unifin.  Unifins employees provided their names and the company name during both conversations prior to the consumer yelling at the employee to shut up. Unfortunately, the consumer refused to verify his identity during those conversations, which prevented the employees from disclosing the nature of the call.  Unifin previously ceased collection efforts related to the subject account and will forward a copy of the consumers dispute and second complaint to our client.

    I am rejecting this response because: *********** STILL refuses to admit they can state it is an attempt to collect a debt. Once again, I will state that there is NO debt they can collect, so they should not have even called me back in January let alone the last time. Their employees are rude themselves, they refuse to confirm how the company name is spelled probably so they do not get more complaints from the BBB which they get a lot of complaints from. Seems to me they need to have their ratings reduced until they can come into compliance with their regulations they are mandated to comply with.
