11-24-2025, I had a ****** assembling cabinet at my home. The ****** did not complete the service and made mistake installing a bar in a wrong position. ****** admitted mistake. I have evidence. When I asked the ****** to come in, he said No because moved away. I had to pay another handyman to take apart and reassemble the cabinet. Before I noticed the incomplete work, I only authorized $61. However, TaskRabbit charged me $92. TaskRabbit refused to issue refund on the ground that ****** spent time even though the task was incomplete and was defective.TaskRabbit has violated the following laws:1.Misleading advertisement. TaskRabbit promised to provide excellent services, they failed to do so.2.Over charged consumers. I only authorized Taskers submission of $61. TaskRabbit overcharged me to $92. If I had known the Taskers defective service, I would not have authorizted anything.3.Fraud. I booked a service through TaskRabbit a week in advance of the scheduled date, December 3, 2025. The appointment was set for around 4:00 PM. The day before, I messaged the ****** to confirm he was still available the next day at the same time. He replied yes, he was still available. On the day of the service, he messaged me asking if he could come earlier. I asked how early, and he responded that it would be within 30 minutes. I informed him I was unavailable at the new time he suggested, which was the same day. I told him we could reschedule for another day. The company charged me $61.94 for the service and refused to give me a refund. Their policy states I am not allowed to cancel within 24 hours, which I did not do. The ****** initiated a schedule change within ***************************************** the app after the ******/servicer requested a new time. I was unavailable for his new time because his new proposed schedule was two hours before that of scheduled service. The ****** did not say he could still come at the scheduled time- he asked to come earlier which did not work for my schedule. This company is penalizing me for the miscommunication of their ****** behalf which is of no fault of mine. I have submitted proof of this conversation in an attachment. This is from the TaskRabbit company. Their employee name is **** and this interaction was on December 7th. Clearly shows I do have an account and they said they are going to disable it if I file a dispute. This is another reason why it is so important for me to file this dispute against this company. They continue to do unethical practices to their customers.

They suspended my account and claim I owe a $500 balance even though (1) the task was performed extremely poorly, (2) TaskRabbit support explicitly instructed me to dispute the charge with my bank to obtain a full refund, and (3) my bank ruled in my favor. TaskRabbit is now penalizing me for following their own instructions and refuses to reinstate my account unless I repay a charge already refunded by my bank. In March 2024, I hired a ****** for an indoor painting job. The work was performed far below TaskRabbits published Satisfaction Pledge standards: paint spatter was left all over the floor, the walls were unevenly painted, and the ****** failed to return for the agreed-upon correction appointment despite setting the time himself. I reported this to TaskRabbit. They acknowledged the issue but offered only a $250 credit on a $655.47 job. When I requested a full refund due to the poor quality of the work, Customer Support specifically instructed me to dispute the charge with my bank if I wanted a full refund. I followed their guidance. My bank independently reviewed the case and ruled fully in my favor, confirming that the dispute was valid. TaskRabbit then suspended my account without notifying me. For months afterward, I continued unsuccessfully trying to book Taskers, not knowing my account had been silently placed on hold. I only learned of the suspension when I finally contacted support myself. They are now claiming I owe the $500 because the ****** invoiced for time, despite the quality of work being substandard and despite them directing me to pursue the chargeback. They are refusing to reinstate my account unless I pay again for a charge my bank already refunded. This situation is unreasonable. I am rejecting this response because:TaskRabbits response does not address the core issues in my complaint or the resolution I am seeking.
The central issue is that TaskRabbit Support explicitly instructed me to dispute the charge with my bank if I wanted a full refund after the ****** performed poor-quality and incomplete work. I followed the instructions given directly by their team. At no point did TaskRabbit disclose that following this guidance would result in:
- Account suspension
- An outstanding balance being added to my profile
- Permanent limitations on my account
- A requirement that I repay funds refunded because of poor service
If such consequences exist in TaskRabbits Terms, they were never disclosed by the representative who advised me to dispute the charge. A customer should not be penalized for acting on the companys own guidance without being warned of negative repercussions. Additionally:
1. The bank ruled in my favor, confirming that the dispute was valid based on the evidence.
2. I was never notified that my account had been suspended; I only discovered this months later after repeated booking issues led me to contact support.
3. I do not wish to continue using TaskRabbit due to the service experience and the subsequent handling of this matter.
4. Assigning a balance to my account under these circumstances is unreasonable and unfair.
Furthermore, TaskRabbit has stated that I must update or re-authorize my payment information for them to collect the alleged outstanding balance, despite already having a valid card on file. If the charge were legitimately owed and permitted under their policies, TaskRabbit would be able to process the payment without requiring new authorization. The fact that they cannot do so indicates that this is not a valid outstanding balance but rather an internal account flag that only persists because I will not voluntarily re-authorize a payment that I do not owe.
Resolution Requested:
Clear the outstanding balance and permanently delete my TaskRabbit account. I am not seeking reinstatement, only closure of the matter without being penalized for following TaskRabbits own instructions.

We were just notified by our Discover credit card of charges on 8/14/25 from TaskRabbit in the amount of $72.06. The charges consist of $19.40 trust and support fee charges along with $52.66 canceled task charge. The taskrabbit job was cancelled by the contractor/****** and not by us, as he was unable to complete the job. We should not have to pay for him not showing and not being able to complete the job as agreed upon. I have reached out to TaskRabbit directly - and they refuse to refund the total charge because it is past the 30 day refund window.Business Response

I hired a ****** through TaskRabbit to mount my 85-inch *********** The ****** installed the mount incorrectly, used the wrong screws, did not anchor it into studs, and the TV and mount collapsed. This caused major damage to my TV, wall, and apartment. My total documented damages were $2,877.98, supported by photos, videos, receipts, and written explanation.I filed a claim through TaskRabbits Happiness Pledge, but the company gave inconsistent deadlines, partial offers, and unclear communication. They offered partial reimbursement and TaskRabbit credits, but refused to fully cover the damages in cash or ******, even though the ****** was clearly negligent.Since TaskRabbit would not resolve the matter, I filed a small claims case in *******. This case is no longer in litigation. TaskRabbit did not respond or appear in court, and the court issued a default judgment in my favor for $3,226.50 plus ***** percent annual interest. I have attached the judgment.After the judgment, I mailed a formal demand letter to TaskRabbits registered agent and emailed the company directly with the judgment attached. TaskRabbit has not paid the amount owed, has not acknowledged the judgment, and has not provided any contact for handling payment. I am now simply trying to collect on a legally issued judgment that TaskRabbit is required to satisfy.I am filing this BBB complaint because TaskRabbit has not paid the court-ordered judgment and has not communicated a plan for payment. Task rabbit ****** was hired to perform a task and failed to do properly. **************** claims there is a policy to help customers if a task went wrong (hence why we pay additional protection fee to use task rabbit). Was charged an additional 45 mins in order for the ****** to fix item and I was charged for this. Was told countless times a manager would reach out, they had not. One person named Rhode did. Never heard from them again after they neglected to finish handling my case.I followed up and a ****** agent told me that I need to disregard the past communications I had been working through with Rhode and due to a system update - I should now submit claim myself online. They took about 3 weeks to reply to me and tell me to do it myself so I am no longer eligible to submit the claim now. I was THEN told I am getting a $50 credit (which is not even close to the amount I am owed in extra time charged (the ****** charged me the time he took to fix his mistakes) and damages/ giant holes to my walls (will cost me additional to fix). I was told by two different agents the $50 credit will be reimbursed to my card. Never was. I am STILL owed money in damages and the puny $50 insignificant credit to be reimbursed.Business Response

I scheduled a person to do a furniture assembly but the item did not come therefore I had to cancel the job and I notified the person that I had to cancel because he would show up to my home with no item to assemble. Taskrabbit decided to charge my card for a cancellation fee although the item did not arrive. If the item did not arrive the job had to be cancelled. I am a long-standing TaskRabbit service provider with over 100 successfully completed tasks and consistently 5-star client reviews. My account was suddenly limited based on two isolated tasks where I did not violate any Terms of ********** the task with ********** *., I worked 2 hours and 20 minutes. The client disputed the time, and despite submitting evidence of the work performed, TaskRabbit removed a full hour from my invoice. The limitation placed on my account after this situation was unfair and based on misleading claims by the ********* the task with **** *., the dispute resulted only from a communication misunderstanding about my minimum service time. I immediately corrected the issue and removed the minimum requirement to prevent any similar concerns.TaskRabbit denied my appeal and stated that their decision is final without addressing my evidence or my history of excellent performance. The limitations imposed on my account resulted from a customers incorrect guidance and request, which was beyond my control. Despite providing clear evidence, TaskRabbit has closed the case and refuses to lift the limitations, offering no explanation or resolution.
This response is inadequate because it ignores the evidence and my clear request. My request is simple and specific: the unfair limitations on my account should be removed.

I am rejecting this response because:Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, this does not address the core issue of my complaint.
I have repeatedly requested clear and specific information regarding which exact Term(s) of Service I allegedly violated. To date, neither Support nor your response here has provided any concrete explanation or evidence of misconduct. Being told that violations occurredwithout detailsdoes not allow me to correct or even understand the issue.
I strongly believe the limitation on my account was the direct result of a misunderstanding and a client directing me incorrectly through the platform. The limitation has caused significant negative impact on my work, despite my clean record and positive client feedback.
Again, my request is simple and remains the same:
Please remove the unjust limitation and reinstate my account, or provide verifiable and specific documentation supporting your claim of a Terms of Service violation.

Complaint Summary My TaskRabbit ****** account was unfairly restricted after false client complaints. I provided clear evidence showing professional communication, transparency about rates, and client consent, but TaskRabbits ************** Team ignored my evidence and sided with the clients without reviewing the facts.What Happened:I have been an Elite ****** with an excellent record and many returning clients who left positive reviews. Despite this, my account was restricted after several clients provided false or misleading complaints. I submitted a detailed appeal to TaskRabbits ************** team, including screenshots proving that: I always inform clients about my 2-hour minimum charge before the task begins (as seen in my messages).Clients clearly agree to these terms in writing (No problem, see you in a bit!).I always maintain polite and professional communication and confirm all materials used, such as my own anchors and screws, with client approval.Clients thank me after completion and even offer to write additional reviews.Examples of my communication with clients are attached as screenshots. These demonstrate that I fully comply with TaskRabbits policies and maintain professional integrity.Despite this, TaskRabbit ignored my evidence and denied my appeal without giving me a specific reason or allowing further discussion. I would like to reject the businesss response regarding my complaint.
The decision made by TaskRabbit, Inc. is unfair and unsubstantiated.
In their reply, the company claims that I violated multiple terms of service, but they did not provide any specific examples or evidence of which terms were allegedly violated. There were no detailed explanations, no citations of specific rules, and no proof to support their accusations.
On the other hand, I have submitted clear evidence and screenshots demonstrating my professionalism and honesty, as well as showing that the client provided false information. Despite this, TaskRabbit decided to side with the client without justification.
I respectfully request that BBB continues to review this case, as I have proven my compliance with all platform policies and provided all the necessary documentation. The companys vague and unsupported claims should not be sufficient grounds for permanent account deactivation.
