I am/was a new client of Anthem Pest control. Just before our 2nd appointment (7/2/2024) my husband lost his job. I am a part time preschool teacher and do not have an income during the summer. I called before our 2nd appointment to see if we could postpone appointments or if we could cancel service due to unexpected employment loss. Anthem stated I could not postpone the appointments and if I were to cancel service I would be charged a $241 cancellation fee. I stated, I could not afford the cancellation fee, we will just try to continue service. My account was charged $99 8/2/2024 at 7:00 am for the upcoming appointment on 8/5/2024. Upon the reminder received 8/2/2024 of the 3rd appointment scheduled for 8/5/2024, I called (Friday 8/2/2024 shortly after 2pm) to see if there was anything we could do to cancel or postpone due to unexpected hardship. Anthem stated they did not offer any type of hardship cancellation and if I were to cancel I would be charged the$241 cancellation. I stated well, I guess nevermind we cant afford the cancellation and ended the call. Shortly after that call was ended a charge of $241 was drafted from my account by **********************. Our Anthem account was cancelled without my authorization and charged a total of $340!!! I was not aware of the charges made until Saturday!!! Today is Tuesday 8/6/2024, we did NOT receive service from Anthem Pest as scheduled and PAID for on Monday 8/1/2024. I called to ask why my account was cancelled as I did not authorize cancellation and also informed them of the $99 payment they withdrew but did not render service as scheduled. **************** could not help me and stated they could not refund any charges made to my account. I asked to speak with management and again was not helped nor offered a refund of the cancellation fee. I DID NOT AUTHORIZE CANCELLATION, thieves! They stole money from my family!!!

Thank you for reaching out to us. Im sorry to hear about the confusion and frustration youve experienced, and I want to clarify the situation from our perspective.

First, Id like to point out that we understand and empathize with the challenges you are facing. We genuinely value our customers and want to make sure that we provide clear communication at all stages of service. I see that there may have been some misunderstanding regarding our cancellation and payment policies, and Im glad to have the opportunity to address this with you.
When you first contacted us about needing to pause or cancel service due to your husbands job loss, we explained that we do not offer a hardship-based cancellation, and our policy requires a reimbursement fee if service is stopped before completion of the contracted terms. We also informed you that appointments could not be postponed, as per the agreement. At that point, you chose to continue the service rather than cancel, despite the financial concerns you mentioned.

Regarding the charge of $99, this was processed on 8/2/2024 as part of our standard pre-payment procedure for upcoming services for our customers on monthly services. The $241 charge you mentioned was for the difference between the reimbursement fee of $340 and the $99 which has already been processed as explained above.
I apologize if this automated process created confusion. I understand that this situation is especially difficult during a time of financial strain, and we truly did not intend to cause any additional stress.
I recognize how upsetting this must be, and Id be happy to reach out to you personally to discuss the situation further. We appreciate your understanding and patience, and Im here to help in any way I can.

Anthem pest control took 2payments from my bank account a few days apart. They took $100 on 05/08/24 then again they took $69 today 05/10/24 I spoke with them on the phone on the 8th after I saw the $100 withdrawal from my account and I explained to them that I cannot pay them twice a month but today they took $69 more.*** also explained to them numerous times that Im the only one working in my household because my husband is blind and crippled so I have one income from which I make payments to them. They also mentioned that I have to pay over $100 + to cancel the contract for termite control. I would like to know if I am bound to their agreement for this charge because another very popular pest control company assured me that anthem pest control CANNOT legally form contractual agreements. Im only trying to work out payment arrangements but no mercy or help from anthem.I cancelled my service today and I would also like to cancel the termite services

********************* review is completely dishonest, and not reflective of the services provided at her property. Every single time we came out to ********************* home to perform her contracted services, we gave her at least a 72 hour notice EVERY SINGLE TIME via phone call, email, and text message. She had plenty of notice to be able to prepare for services. Anytime ***************** called in to reschedule for days that worked better for her, we always accommodated her requests. Furthermore, anytime we did service the front of the house but weren't able to service the back due to her dogs being loose in the backyard, we always reached out to her to have a FREE reservice performed at a time where she could put her dogs up. We always communicated well ahead of time with her, and anytime she wasn't able to put her dogs up, we offered to come back to finish up the back of the home. She has constantly refused to accept reservices, and of course won't mention the fact that we always gave her 3 days of notice before we even came out to service her home. We wish ***************** the best, but we performed service every single time that we said we did. And anytime she complained, we accommodated her requests.

Early August a sales man from Anthem Pest knocked our door offering pest control services it was a Friday evening. We agreed that they will come the following Monday to service indoors and outdoors, the initial first service costs $60 which I paid with my debit card. On Monday the service guy came and it was a stormy day, the storm knocked down our tree in the front yard and it was very dangerous to spray outside during the storm. The service guy was only able to spray inside my house and we agreed that he will be back for the second portion (outside)of the first initial service. Finally, late August, anthem came to spray outside which was a part my first treatment that I had already paid for only to find out that they charged me again but this time was for $114. When I called the company to complain that I was charged twice for the same service they refused to refund me back the money.

      ***************,

I want to firstly apologize for all of the stress and frustration this situation has caused you.  As I have reviewed your account, your story coincides with the timeline and services you are referring to. It appears that our customer service agent who spoke to you at the time made an innocent mistake, and perhaps might not have understood the situation fully. I am truly sorry for this, and I can assure you we are better than this. As a result of this inconvenience, I have added a $114 credit to your account for the service performed on 10/23/2023 due to us not having came back to finish the outside treatment of your home due to the tree having fallen down in your yard. We hope this will resolve your concerns and rectify the complaint.

January of 2023 I canceled service anthem pest control repeatedly sending technician to my residence.I told the that I had canceled service that I did not want them to keep coming to my home. I was told that I would no longer have them come out. Between may 2023 and recently Aug 21 2023 I had to tell technician to stop coming by my account was charged $103.00 as of today saying that a technician completed service on the Aug 23rd 2023 which was never performed I called today Aug 28 2023 and was told service would be canceled and I need to send video of the technician not performing service. I replied and told them the technician should have not been to the residence. They told me that my account would be closed for the future service and I should get a refund 5 business day I don't know how they keep account information if I already canceled service this a form of fraud.

This complaint is not reflective of what happened with **************** whatsoever. **************** signed up for a 1 year contract with ** back in July of 2022, which entails a total of 5 services. *************** completed 4 of the 5 services with us. We explained to **************** for MONTHS on end that he had to finish his final service with us. On top of that, he actually did NOT  request to cancel in January of 2023, because he requested service in February of 2023. When he told our technicians he wanted to cancel services, our technicians informed our office to reach out to **************** to finalize cancellation, **************** never finalized the cancellation process with our office which he agreed to do if he chose to do so in his contract. Our office for MONTHS attempted to finalize the cancellation with Mr. ****** only to be ghosted by him. Anthem rendered services every time we promised to per our contractual agreement, we always notified **************** days in advance about his appointments, and our office went above and beyond trying to get ahold of him to address his complaints, only to be ignored.  Furthermore, he placed his preferred method of payment on auto pay with us in his contract when he signed up with us and agreed to let us charge him fees for service, and also any penalties for cancelling the contract prior to its completion.  Anthem has gone above and beyond to try to resolve ****************** concerns and keep him in the loop regarding all matters related to his account, contract, appointments, etc. In no way, shape, or form, has Anthem committed fraud. Our records of communication with **************** prove that as well.

On 6/13/23 I called Anthem Pest Control on a RECORDED line and specifically indicated I had a flea infestation at bottom floor of *********** and I was assured they could rid my home of fleas with one treatment & maybe a follow up. I was told their minimum commitment was 12 months/$129. The agreement was to rid the fleas on the initial visit and then general bug control for the remaining visits. The tech came on 6/15 and sprayed chemicals for fleas. I had to stay home the entire day because of the 9 am to 6 pm window. Tech told me that this should take care of it, was also told to stay out of the house for 5 hours and remove all pets from premises. The following week, I check, the fleas were worse. I called, spoke to a manager, and said that I needed someone to come back, and MADE SURE I told them it was for FLEAS. They arranged a tech to come out, I called AGAIN that day and reminded them it was for fleas. Once again, I take most of the day off, the tech then shows up with nothing to treat fleas, just a half can of bug spray for roaches, ants, etc, he didn't even know what chemical he was spraying. I had him call the office and he said that there was confusion. Also, he treated the area (with just a half can) while I was on premises. I was not asked to leave or remove my pets from the home? Next week- still infested with fleas. I called again, asked to speak with a manager...manager assures me that a Anthem Manager will be at my house the following week. The next week...Once again, I take a day off.....a tech shows, no Manager as promised. Sprays the same thing as always. I give it a few days, still fleas, the spray did nothing. I then called the Anthem manager and spoke to her. She said it would cost $170 to break their contract!!! I told them that a "contract" involves two parties and that they did not honor their portion. I am not paying $170 and also want my original payment back of $129. I had to hire ******** exterminators afterwards (paperwork uploaded)

*************************** came to my home on July 2023 on behalf of Anthem pest control. He was doing the typical sales person pitch when I opened the door. It was a hot day and he asked if he could come in. I obviously didnt want this man in my house but I advised him I am working as I work from home and it needs to be fast as I have a client on hold. He mislead me into believing Anthem would be out every month to spray for pests, I did not find this out until I received the contract later on. The gentleman that came out to spray did not do everything that was promised to me. The ants outside my home were not taken care of, the bugs inside my home were not taken care of. I have been mislead by Anthem and I wish for my money back and no penalty for cancellation. I have tried to contact the company several times to come back out and spray as I was told someone would call to check and see if that was needed, they have not. I have sent multiple email where I was told to call in, however I work mon through fri the same work hours as their office. I have been on hold when I have attempted to call on my lunch and nothing, and no resolution reached. I dont think its right to scam and trick people for paying for something you didnt provide. And then when help is needed as promised it is not provided.

Anthem Pest Control stole money from my bank account for a job they never performed, and they continue to lie to me and violate/breach the contract that was signed by both of us.1. when I asked about the beginning day of service, I was informed it would be on a Friday. They lied to me and indicated that this would not be the case. They cannot change the representative's statement; their hands are tied; they can only notate the account. For the previous seven to twelve months, when it is time for servicing, I get a call every other month.2. On May 26th, they lied to me about going to my house to do maintenance. My household comprises four people and two children, and nobody goes to work on Fridays. They have deducted $107.17 from my account for a service they have not provided. No one was there to execute the service when I phoned the office, so they apologized and told me to reschedule it for **** 2nd,2023. On **** 2nd, IT WAS A NO CALL NO SHOW.3. On 6/5/23, I contacted and spoke with Manager ************** Together, we concluded that a refund should be issued, and we would find a way to cancel the account.4. On **** 9th, I contacted you again since a refund had not been granted, and I had not received a response to my previous inquiry. ***, the Regional Manager, would not provide her name when questioned, and she refused to identify herself. Extremely impolite and dismissive, she informed me that she did not care what the other manager had promised and that she would not be providing me a refund for the $107.17 that they had stolen from me.Because the service was not carried out, I would want to obtain a refund.

1: sorry for the delayed response. You wrote your complaint to the ******* office and it looks like your home is being serviced by the ******, ** office. not sure why the BBB would send it here.

2: the reason why deducted payment from you credit card is because when you signed up for the service on 05/30/2022 at 1:12 pm you cave us permission to auto withdraw for the card on file. (please see attached documents.)

3: we serviced your home on 05/26, were unable to service the back yard. we then tried to come out again on 5/31 to make this right however you informed us that you would not be home.

4: as per the contract (please see attached documents) if you are not home for a scheduled visit we will come out for free to treat the inside or to reservice your home at no expense as long as you have paid for your scheduled visits. I do see

5: I do see that your account is closed however we're more than happy to schedule a reservice for you at a time convenient to you so that we can treat the backyard and inside.

6: if there are any further questions please let us know. thank you.

The community had two salesman coming through the neighborhood, knocking on peoples doors to sell pest control. When homeowners told them they were not interested, the sales people started to get very pushy and rude. The HOA started to get complaints so board members went and found one of them and told them to just leave the community since its a private community that has no trespassing signs, and also no soliciting signs in the front entrance.I was then told that I was lying and that they would NOT leave, and anyone is allowed to be here. So I explained again to look and read the signs that say its a private owned community. They then refused to leave until I told them the cops were coming and I was going to have their cars towed. They were completely rude, selfish and immature. I try to contact the company, but with no success. The association wants to make sure that this company knows what their employees are doing and we do not want any other team members back to the community. Or trespassing charges will be filed with the sales team and the company.

Last summer (2022) a man came to my door selling Anthem Pest Control services. He went over everything they would do in the service, and when I said "Can I cancel at any time?", he said "You do have to keep the service for a year; if you cancel before a year it will be a $200 charge". He used a tablet to enter my bank information and turned the tablet to me to sign. There was only a rectangle for me to sign. I was given no papers. Immediately the service was not what he had described. I've put up with this lack of what was promised for almost a year. A couple of months ago, I reached out to them via their contact form on their site. I received no reply. I called this morning and was told I can't cancel for 36 months or there will be a $279 fee. I asked for a manager, and was placed on an indefinite hold (when they put you on hold and never return). I waited 30 minutes, then hung up and called back and left a voice mail. No one returned my call from the first call today, and no one returned my call from the voice mail. I called again at 2:20 and was told the manager was at lunch. So this is a set of lies from their rep who came to my door, and no response to 4 attempts to speak to someone in charge. They simply want to take a person's money, not provide what was promised, and refuse to communicate with their customer. I would like to cancel the service without penalty as was promised.

The reason we charged the cancellation fee is that you signed a 36 month agreement. in that agreement that was emailed to ********************* on 08/18/22 at 12:29pm. it stated the following: "If for any reason service is canceled prior to fulfilling the agreement, by refusing to receive or pay for service, and the initial service has been performed, the customer agrees to pay the difference between $299.00 and the discounted price of the initial treatment."

I have also attached the contract verification form that the technician went over with you on 08/20/2023 at 10:55 am. it also states  a 36 month agreement and a cancellation fee if cancelled prior to 36 months.

please let us know if you have any further questions.

      thank you,

I am rejecting this response because: As you can see (and I hope others will check and see that complaints against this company are all the same), their pattern is to send a salesperson to the home and say anything to get the customer to agree to their services.  The salesperson will say that you are signing a one-year agreement and if you cancel before a year, it will be $270.  Then the customer is given a tablet with a rectangle to sign within.  The contract is not given at that time.  When the technician comes to the door for the first service, the customer is shown a small phone screen with a rectangle to sign within.  The customer believes the company has sent truthful salespeople into their homes, but that is not the case.  You can see from the complaint history that this company's tactic is the same, so much so, that it would have to be the company training their staff to do it this way.  And really how else could a pest control company get a new customer to sign up for THREE years?  NO ONE would sign up intentionally for a THREE-YEAR contract for pest control with a $270 fee to cancel.  ************ is probably making its greatest profit on the $270 cancellation fee.  Since the BBB does nothing but catalog complaints, I will be contacting other consumer protection agencies to lodge a complaint.

      Sincerely,

We apologize for any miscommunication. However the 36 months was shown on both signed agreements. This was explained to you on 2 separate days by 2 different employees.

our system is far from perfect but we do try to rectify any mistakes made by the salesman at time of service with the technician at time of service which is why there are 2 different forms.

both agreements were sent to your email once signed.
