1 starI think I was just scammed. I wanted to get an inspection done to see if the fireplace was in good shape when we moved in. The "tech" first didn't speak English so it was hard to ask questions. Secondly he legit looked in the fireplace for like a second. And then looked at the woodstove for maybe 30 seconds all to try to get me to do a $1,000 cleaning. All he could say is I need a cleaning trying to talk through ****** translate. So I have no idea if my fireplace is usable or not. And of course I had to pay the 170$ for a legit less then ******************* to still not know if my chimney is usable. This company should be shut down. This is a scam.Review fromBrandon P.

1 starI was quoted $3300 by A-1 chimney to redo the chimney crown, repair brick mortar, and replace flashing. The tech didnt cover my roof and damaged my fairly new roof by splashing mortar all over it. He didnt cover the area to protect it. They didnt replace the flashing, just smeared black tar over the existing. A different tech came out two weeks later to remove the mortar on my shingles with no success. He actually caused further damage to my shingles because the mortar was hardened. He wanted to pressure wash my roof and I declined. I had to get a roofer to quote me for the repairs and he noticed the mortar on the crown was cracked and failing. I called A-1 chimney and they wouldnt send anyone unless I sent pictures. I found that weird considering I had to climb onto the roof to take them. After I sent the photos he said only the original tech can come out and repair the failed mortar. I felt this was unfair considering he damaged my roof and his original mortar job failed. I requested a full refund and they declined my request. They refunded $750 to repair my shingles. I had to hire another company to come out and redo the crown and repair other mortar areas. So I basically paid this company for nothing but stress and heartache. They told me 5 times over a week period a manager would call me and I never got that call. They are scam artist. My ****** review for their company keeps getting removed. I suspect their reviews are fake, tricking people into thinking theyre legit and do quality work.Review fromBw B

1 starA1 INSPECTED CHIMNEY, QUOTE $6500 FOR A NEW CHINEY PIPE. IT TOOK HIM 20 MINUTES TO FIGURE THIS OUT. I quote " I can't inspect the chimney from the roof because the cap is sealed with silicone" for a $100 inspection fee that lasted 20 minutes a good business would remove silicone and look into the chimney then replace silicone, rather then just chalk it up and say it needs a hole new chimney pipe for 6k. Second company inspected for free spent well over an hour, removed chimney cap, resealed and said "if it needs anything, maybe a clean but it's safe to use" have been using it since with zero issues.Review fromCarol M

1 starThe Tecnician was punctual, then it all went downhill from there! He spent less than 1 minute looking ***********. Told it would need a "level two" service and quoted $600 after consulting with "main office" via phone texts.Very shady business dealings! Do not fall for the $99 deal or the nice website with ***** great reviews!! I'm out $99 today, and feel like I was duped!Review fromBea R

1 starScheduled appointment for a window time of 4pm-6pm, specifying that that time is the earliest we could be home for the appointment. Around 2:30 that day, the technician texted me and said he would be there in a half an hour. I told him that does not work and that 4 was the earliest I could be home. At 4pm, I got a phone call from the office saying that they need to reschedule because the technician called out sick that day, when he had talked to me an hour and a half earlier. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor, and they said they had to send a message over and they would get back to us with a phone call. Never received a call.I rescheduled the appointment for Sunday between 9am and 12. At 10:30 the technician reached out to us saying he would be there between 12 and 2pm. Around noon, I reached out to the office to see where the tech is, and they confirmed that my appointment window was from 9am - 12, so i asked where my technician is because he hasn't shown up. 20 minutes later, i get a text message from the technician saying he could be there for "MAYBE" 2pm. I contacted the office again, asking to speak with a supervisor or manager and they said again, they couldnt transfer me over to one, and one would reach back out with a phone call. Around 2pm, i reached out to the technician and he never responded. I reached out to the company again and they said they will try to get someone out to my house as soon as possible and would receive a phone call within 20 minutes. Never got a phone call back. The last person I spoke to on the phone, I explained the entire situation, expressing how unprofessional and asinine this company is run and I want to speak with a manager right now, im not waiting for a call back. The man who works in the office then hung up the phone on me. I called back one more time to tell them to delete us from their system and do not come onto the property, as they are not welcome and the police will be called. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.Review fromKristi E

1 starDO NOT USE.They were late. They didn't honor the quote I had been given over the phone for inspection + clean ($99 - the person who showed said that was wrong and it would be $179). Did not clean the fireplace well at all. Just used a shopvac and still missed things (there were still dead moths inside when he was done). He left trash on our roof. He then wanted an additional $500 to seal a crack in the fireplace. Absolutely ridiculous, overpriced, and horrible service.Review fromDawn H

1 starI had A-1 Chimney Sweep come out because I had things falling down in my fireplace. ******* came out and said the cap was leaking and that the chimney needed to be swept. Okay fine. He did the work, charged me $2100 then asked for a tip. Ridiculous. After he left, I saw that he had spilled mortar from one end of my driveway to the other. I hosed it off immediately but it was still there the next day. I called the company and even sent manager, ****, pics but he never responded. ******* called, apologized, and said he would be back to clean it up. He never showed so I had to scrub it myself. NOW there is black stuff falling into the fireplace which has never been used. When I called A-1 Chimney Sweep to have someone see whats going on, they wanted to charge me! I said I was not paying and that they should stand by their work. She said she would have a supervisor call but, of course, I never received a call. Then **** had the nerve to send me a text soliciting work. I responded to the text, but was again ignored by the manager, ****. Keep this in mind when looking for a chimney sweepA-1 Chimney Sweep DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. Im a Realtor and would have put them on my referral list if they actually cared. They do not.Review fromDennis G

1 star30+ years in the fire service taught me a lot about fireplaces and chimneys, but I always paid a FD ***** who was a Georgia LICENSED chimney sweep to do the job yearly. He retired so I thought I would try a "local company" to clean and inspect the chimney. The call taker at A1 Chimney was polite and set up an appointment for me. All seemed well until "***" showed up. He had great difficulty communicating in English. Oh, and he didn't even have a ladder so he could not get on the roof to inspect the cap! He took less than a minute to stick his phone under the flue, take a photo, and say; "Shimmanee dir-tee. Need clean. Lot of crack in brick. ***** dangerous."Facts of the matter were; 1) The chimney needed cleaning. That's why I called a sweep. 2) the "cracks" in the brick have already been repaired. 3) it was NOT a "***** dangerous" situation. He proceeded to fiddle with his phone for several minutes, then I got a text message with a "quote" for the recommended services. $1,160.00 to sweep the chimney and repair the cracks that don't need repairing!! I quickly declined and sent him packing.I investigated and found out the "quote" came from a ***** area code. It seems anyone can use this "service" to create quotes, invoices, etc. "***" did not produce any documentation indicating he was a licensed chimney sweep or that he was insured. This was another red flag. I have since purchased a DIY chimney sweep kit, taken care of the job myself, and will do so going forward. Always demand proof of licensure and insurance coverage when hiring a chimney sweep! By the way, the receipt he gave me said ********** Services." I wonder if he is licensed to do that?Review fromCat C
