    SmartBackgroundChecks.com has my personal information name, last name, phone number, address and age public on their website. I dont know how they got my information, I dont know this company. I had requested for them to completely remove my information from their site I filled out a form and almost 3 weeks later it still showing.

    I am writing to complain about Smartbackground checks. My number and address have been published to the internet without my permission. I attempted several months ago to use their removal process, but they kept emailing me to confirm the same information and never removed my personal information. In addition, I have tried following their process whereby I click on the gold button to indicate that I want my records removedbut there was no button or icon. I am reaching out to the BBB for help.

    Today Smartbackground check sent me an email claiming that they were unable to locate the **** However, all of my information is displayed via a ****** search.     I typed my name in ****** search engine. The online search results showed/displayed my full name, address, telephone number on the website https://www.smartbackground checks (Smart Background Checks). When I was clicked on the above website link, I was shocked to find all my personal information mixed with incorrect information online on Smart Background Checks website. My personal information was or is not blocked. It is showed on Smart Background Checks for everyone to view. This is shocking because I have never given this website permission to display my personal information openly on its' website or any other website. I strongly object to this. Smart Background Checks has illegally placed my name on the open web or the company website for everyone to view without permission or consent from me. Because of the company's action, I feel this compromise my personal information giving thieves the opportunity to commit identify theft and the possibility for unwarranted harassment and crime crimes against me. Within the last 6 months, I have had to deal with being a victim of identity theft. Further, I received numerous calls from an ex-husband and a female claiming to be his girlfriend, in which I had no contact with in over 24 years. My ex-husband told me that he found my name on a website. I didn't believe him at the time. Although I have no proof my ex-husband, I am wondering if this is the website that my ex-husband found my personal information to contact me by phone. This is a nightmare because 22 years ago, my ex-husband had set a mobile home on fire with me in it while I was asleep. I woke up with him holding me down while he tried to burn the both of us alive because I was leaving him. Because the thick smoke had choked my ex-husband, I managed to break free to escape by crawling out the back door without him noticing I was gone. He was charged. I left in hiding for years. Now after all these years, I receive a phone call from my ex-husband.
