They hit me with a charge for $33 that I never consented to. Even on the website on my account no charge exists. I have been scammed and when I try to call them I hear a Labor Day out of office message with no ability to leave a call back number. I emailed them and they did respond to my email but said the only help I can get is by calling a number they have shut off for over a week. I want my money back. I want any data of mine off their scamming website. I also looked into their address and the building registry shows no sign of this company working there.Business Response

On February 4, 2025 I paid $0.99 for a trial of Information.com llc. I was not able to find any information on the person I was looking up. I then went ahead and canceled the trial and subscription so I would not be billed. I was billed in March and wrote to the company and asked why they were billing me when I had canceled my subscription. They said it would be dealt with. Each month they continue to take $6.99 out of my ****** account. I want my money refunded and my subscription canceled. If I do go on and try to search another person it tells me I don't have an account and need to pay to get the information so I am not sure why they continue to take my money. Thank you for your help in this matter.Business Response

Hello *** ********,
This message is in reference to BBB Case #: 23837856.
We have received and reviewed your BBB complaint. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
Please keep in mind that our service begins with a trial period, of which you have full access to our comprehensive database and unlimited searches. After the trial, if not canceled, the monthly subscription period begins and will bill each month going forward.
We can confirm we received an email cancellation request from you on 3/4/2025. However, we were unable to locate your account with the information you provided in the email. Our support team replied to your request asking for more information, but we did not get a response from you. After reviewing your account, it appears it has already been self-cancelled as of 2/4/2025. Your cancellation confirmation number is FLW66-65WA0.
Please keep in mind that when completing your report search, we extend a promotion offering unlimited PDF downloads for $6.99. This charge is separate from the trial period. Upon reviewing your account, we observed your self-selected acceptance of our PDF offer. While your Unlimited Reports subscription was canceled prior, your PDF downloads add-on has remained active. However, since the Unlimited Reports subscription is inactive, you do not have access to searching for new reports at this time.
We have ensured your PDF downloads add-on subscription has now been canceled, meaning no further billing will occur. We have gone ahead and issued the refund of $41.94. Our system would not allow us to refund past this amount. We recommend reaching out to ****** for any further assistance. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to reflect in your account.
We will deem this complaint as resolved and if you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact our Customer Support team at ************** or email **************************************.

On 7-29-25 I requested what was described a free background check. Then I discover a .99 charge on that date as well as ***** on 8-3-25 and again on 9-3-25 and 6.99 charge on 9-1-25. I attempted to dispute through ****** which was useless. The company is listed as Information.com, LLC. I have no idea who this is, apparently a fraudulent one. I want my money refunded to my card ending in 1424 and the recurring charges stopped.Business Response

I was trying to get a phone number from an old friend, and this company falsely advertised in their on line ads, that the first answer would be 1.00 or no charge. Not sure which. So, I put the information in and o.k. ************** amount . When I got my Discover bill, I noticed Pay Pal had paid them $35.13, a completely unauthorized charge. My dispute is a return of the complete $35.13 as it was some kind of a con.Business Response

My credit card was charged $1.00 on August 11, 2025, and an additional $35.13 on August 17, 2025 by this company. I have never heard of this company until seeing the charges and took to investigating what the business was. I have no use for this company's services and NEVER agreed to whatever they are charging me for - let alone provide my credit card information. Further research indicates this company has many, many, many similar complaints against it.Business Response

Hello ***** *****,
This response is in reference to BBB Case #: 23819236.
We have received and thoroughly reviewed your complaint, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
We understand you would like to report charges that were not authorized by you.
We have located an account and noticed it was created on 8/10/2025. It appears this account was made fraudulently with your information.
We would like to inform you that the $35.13 transaction was a pre-authorization hold. During the checkout process, customers must accept the terms which state that they will automatically be enrolled in our monthly membership if not cancelled before the trial ends. This is why a pre-authorization hold was placed on your account at that time. Along with the pre-authorization, the account is also charged a trial fee.
Please rest assured that the account has been cancelled as of 8/12/2025. Your cancellation confirmation number is XWK2R-R827K. Since the account was canceled, the $35.13 pre-authorization should have already waived back into your bank account. The amount of $1.00 has been credited back to your original payment method. Please allow 3-5 business days for the refund to reflect in your account, as processing times may vary depending on your bank or card issuer.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Complaint: 23819236
I am rejecting this response because:1) Again, I never signed up for anything with this company, let alone agreed to be charged for services or provided account information to them.
2) The response indicates that the account was cancelled on 8/12/2025. Yet, I was charged $35.13 on 8/17/2025 for the account. It is an outright lie that the account was closed as the company made additional attempts to charge me $35.13 on 9/3/2025, and 9/4/2025, and 9/5/2025. I was able to block these pending charges with the help of my credit card company before they posted. *********** did charge me two separate $1.00 charges on 9/5/2025 which posted and have been disputed as well.
3) *********** indicates the original $1.00 charge has been credited back to me. As of now, that has not happened. They have made no indication of intent to return the original charge of $35.13 from 8/17/2025.
My request at this time is a refund of that $35.13 from 8/17/2025 as well as the two new $1.00 charges from 9/5/2025.
Sincerely,
***** *****Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I am unable to provide the first and last four digits of the card in question as I had to destroy the card and request a replacement - due to the fraudulent charges by your company. Further, your request for screenshots is redundant as that has already been provided. This includes the original charges as well as the additional charges that occurred after the date you indicated you closed the account. This is not resolved.
