I signed up blindly on 1/11/25 to pull 2 reports. They were using the $1 marketing, and I thought, "Why not?" Immediately after signing up for the trial, I was charged $29.99. I have contacted Information.com twice to not only cancel my account before the "trial" runs out but also get a refund on an unauthorized transaction. The customer service is not only horrible but nearly non-existent. The only response that I've received TWICE is this. Thank you for contacting Information.com. We have received your message and will gladly assist you.We are currently experiencing higher than normal volume. If you need immediate assistance, please give us a call at ************** for further assistance. DO BETTER!Business Response

The date of the transaction was 1/11/2025. My credit card was charged twice. One of the charges was for a transaction relating to a search - the webpage cost showed the cost would be $0.99. It was never shared anywhere during my sign up or transaction that this charge existed. I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR A SUBSCRIPTION. I REQUESTED ONLY A ONE-TIME SEARCH. My bank account shows that this charge is for ************************ I want the immediate credit of $***** and to be immediately removed from any subscription should there be any.I contacted the company via e-mail and received the following response: "Hi *****,Thank you for contacting Information.com. I received a report from ******** that my personal information, including information I dont give out to anyone appears on the dark web. I decided to do a search only to find my information on two websites: information.com and ********** - Both sites appeared to contain the exact same information including wrong information about other individuals that they claim happen to be me. I dont care where they got this information from the fact that they posted it so that it is widely viewable on the Internet is repulsive, repugnant, unethical, and just plain disgusting.I filled out their form to remove my information but they claim it can take several days for them to do so. This is grossly unacceptable as such things should be able to be done immediately. In the past Ive been subjected to similar invasions of privacy by other scams like this unethical business and my information was removed as soon as I clicked opt out even though I shouldnt even have to do that. Business is like this should be stopped.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:As I noted in my complaint, this business is literally engaged in invading the privacy of millions of people. Just because they are able to **** governmental databases doesnt give them the right to post that information all over the Internet. FURTHERMORE, some of the information they claimed was about me was actually about another person. This MUST be stopped. I will be writing to my elected officials to halt this GROSSLY UNETHICAL practice.
