TRACFONE sells additional warranty plans (handled by Asurion). They said they would cover 'mechanical and electrical failure due to normal wear and tear and send a replacement phone within "1-2" business days'. Within a year, the phone we had purchased would no longer charge consistently. I submitted a claim to Asurion and was told that the extended warranty plan we purchased "does not kick in until after the 12 month manufacturer warranty period" and that I need to contact TRACFONE. TRACFONE then informed us that we have to send in the phone first, and only after they determine it is a manufacturer problem will they ship us another phone. This means we are without a phone for more than 1-2 days, and odds are, they will probably determine it was from normal "wear & tear" and deny the claim. As of the writing of this review, I also have not received the email promised with instructions on how to mail back the phone. I looked up the Asurion contract, and there is just one fine print line that says: "Except for the *** coverage outlined above, which begins on Your date of purchase, all other coverage becomes effective immediately following the expiration of the manufacturers warranty and remains in effect until the end of Your term, unless cancelled or fulfilled pursuant to the provisions below." So TRACFONE is selling 12/16 month extended warranties that really won't honor anything during the first 12 months except for accidental damage. And if you have to go to TRACFONE in the first 12 months, they will hassle the consumer about their warranty. Beware of this scam and do NOT purchase these bogus plans. We will also be finding a new carrier.

I had Tracfone for many years with excellent service. When ******* took over Tracfone, my service has been a nightmare. I have the Auto Refill plan and have accumulated 13 G. of data but lost it all after using the Tracfone ******* SIM card. I have spent many hours on the phone with **************** changing my APN settings, etc. with no help at all. I now can only make calls and get and send simple Texts. I cannot get or receive MMS or group texts. I have no Data at all. Horrible.

**************** Do not buy Tracfone, customer service is horrible...I looked online for a new phone from tracfone and the lady I talked to sent me a phone I DID NOT order and turned off my old phone...I called my old phone number and it said that it was disconnected...I couldn't even check my data or minutes left on my phone...I made over 10 phone calls to customer service...no help AT ALL...I had to add a star rating and I would rather give a minus 0

I think your business is terrible because I bought a phone from ******* and it was unlocked I went to activate it not knowing that if I did it would automatically go to TracFone and they would lock my phone up so now I'm stuck with the phone that I can't use because of TracFone and it's not fair for them to just lock people's phones up like that

I purchased a phone and it would not allow me to make or receive calls. I returned the phone for a replacement. It has been six weeks and still have not received a replacement. I have called numerous times and keep getting a run around. They have very bad customer service and lousy communication.

Had Tracfone service for years. Put money on my account, now I can't use my phone for calls. It says I'm inactive. After spending at least 6 hours on the phone , getting disconnected 5 times, I'm done with them. Not even worth it to get my money back. Left feeling used and abused!

I will keep this simple, yet informative. If you are not currently a customer of **********************, do not sign up with them. If you ARE currently a customer of theirs, get out while you still can. They have been bought by ******* Wireless (starts with a v if it gets auto-censored) and ******* seems to be planning to shut them down in April 2024.Since then, if you are a TracFone customer, with a ********************** SIM card (and most likely on ****** cellular network technically) they will most likely ******* you with ads to make you switch to *******. Ads when you login to your account on the website, when you navigate that website, and sometimes even forcing you to listen to one when you want to make a phone call (except to 911 of course). I believe that last one borders on the illegal. Not only that, if you try to port/transfer your phone number over to another mobile provider, they will refuse to give you your account number, a direct violation of the law. Let me repeat this clearly: This is illegal. And while suing them is probably not worth your time individually (although I hope a class action lawsuit is coming), I recommend you do the following:First, if you signed up with TracFone by buying one of their TracFone approved phones on their website, your account number is the **** of that first device usually, unless you specifically updated it to your latest device's ****. Otherwise, it's the last 15 digits of your current SIM card.Second, if it's the former rather than the latter (or if you have idea which it is) login to your TracFone account on Chrome or Firefox, open "Inspect Element", switch to the "Network" tab in there, and click "Check Usage" in the website's interface. It should ping the website for your "identifier" (your account number) and you will find that written in the Network tab. I would link the ****** post with said method here, but I doubt the BBB won't censor it.Finally, whether you've retrieved your account # or not, file an FCC complaint.

We ordered phones to replace the ones we already have active with Tracfone. Up until this experience, it has been decent for the price paid. This was awful! One of the phones had a bad display, so we called right away to have it replaced. The woman I spoke with was very unpleasant. There were a few times she was yelling at me for stressing her out and confusing her. I thought this was a simple fix; phone came in, charged it, tried to power it up and the screen display does not work. It will say "Hello Moto" and nothing else. I already had a difficult time hearing and understanding her with all of the excess background commotion. There were a lot of other voices talking like at a call center. I'm not even sure the situation was taken care of and am hoping that in the next few business days we find out. I would use extreme caution when trying to speak with a representative regarding issues with your phone.

Terrible customer service. My father's phone stopped working. Mailed it in for a replacement on November 1st and still have not received a replacement phone. Can not understand their representatives because they have such thick accents. They transfer you from one person to another and ask you the same questions over and over again.
