They have obviously paid to be a top search results to scam people out of money. More importantly, they now have my business information and personal ID **********************.

The subject website uses the exact same name as a government form. The website "www.boir.org", appear at the top of search results as sponsored result when users look up the keyword "BOIR". The user may not immediately see that the result is sponsored (paid advertisement). The page uses the name name as the government form "Beneficial Ownership Information Reports (BOIR)".Upon entering the page, the user will not see the website's statement about their non-affiliation with the government. Instead, they will only see an eagle logo, which makes people think of the US government, information about the form itself, deadlines, and penalties, etc. Users will only see that non-affiliation if they scroll to the bottom of the page or read the terms and conditions.Despite having a note at the very bottom of the website, indicating they are not affiliated with the government, the design of the website including the name is to confuse users that the page is part of the government. The website itself and user sees immediate as they entered the page resembles a government page.

This complaint is regarding the fraudulent charge of $349 from BOIR.ORG We learned about the Beneficial Ownership Information Report (BOIR) from ads on social media. The ads stressed that BOIR reporting is required, and failure to file can result in penalties of over $500 per day and two years in prison. We googled BOIR to find where to file. BOIR.ORG was at the top of results, and it looked like a Government website. The potential penalties for missing the December 31, *************************** big red letters at the top of the BOIR.ORG website! On December 18, 2024 we filed the forms and at the end were required to pay $349 filing fee. We did, believing that it was a legitimate government fee. Then, scrolling to the very bottom of the page, we discovered the small type disclaimer:We are not affiliated with the US Government or the ************************************ (******). You may file your BOIR directly at no cost with ****** at ***************** minutes we tried to contact BOIR.ORG but there is no way to reach them. The phone number and the email are not working. On December 18, 2024, the ********************************************************************* (******) issued an alert to raise awareness of fraud schemes abusing FinCENs name, insignia, and authorities for financial gain. These ******-specific fraud schemes include scams that exploit beneficial ownership information reporting; misuse ********************** Business Registration tool; or involve the impersonation of, or misrepresent affiliation with, ****** and its employees.

I am rejecting this response because:

We do not agree with the outrageous response received from the business after the issue was solved by us working with the bank that issued the **** card we charged.

When we called the business to request a valid link to their refund page we were told hat we would never get a refund, the charge was legitimate, and the woman answering the phone hanged up on us two times.

We took action and sent over 20 pages of information to the Dispute Supervisor at ************** our package included clear alerts and warnings from the *************************** regarding this fraudulent BOIR business.

Two days after our package was received, the refund showed on the **** statement. The bank sent us a letter dated January 24, 2025 stating After looking into this, we determined that you are not responsible for the disputed amount.

This customer has already been responded to and refunded for the inconvenience they faced while trying to process their order was the ** answer from the business. The truth is different: they never responded to us and the refund was given by the bank.

Please note that this business created another BOIR web page and is advertising it in order to continue scamming people in a fraudulent way!

Thanks to BBB, your help was very important!

    Sincerely,

I had received a link (****** *********************** attached) from my attorney to self-file a BOIR report with the federal government. During the filing process, the website (now I know this was BOIR.ORG) requested my ****** credit/debit card info. Since there were possible penalties for late filing I assumed they asked everyone for this information. When I contacted the name listed on my ***** Fargo transaction detail and after several minutes was unable to understand the representative and what their service provided, they hung up on me. I immediately contacted ***** Fargo and explained that the scammer they reimbursed us for the $349. Ive also attached the email I received that includes a tracking number but when I put this number into ********** website to track the status of my filing, it did not recognize this number. The email at the top of this email ( no-reply-********************** appears to be from a **** website (not BOIR.ORG) so I cant figure any of this. I would like to know if my financial data is at risk (SS number included on form) and make sure if they are a fraudulent business. Thank you.

    Hello,

This business hacked the ***** of Treasury website and never reimbursed the $349 they took from our ***** Fargo checking account.

When I initially reported the fraud to ****************, they immediately gave a credit.  On 1/30/25 ***** Fargos provisional credit was reversed and the $349 was again taken from our bank account (see below).

I was never reimbursed by this fraudulent business for the $349 amount taken from our **************** account.   Nor have we ever been contacted by this business since the day they took this money from us.

Other consumers must be notified that this businesses is a fraudulent business.

Not only did this business take money they were not entitled to, they breached our financial records  requested by the ***** Of Treasury. The application (BOIR) was requested from all registered LLCs and includes bank account **********************, photos of applicants drivers license, mailing address,  email, phone number, social security numbers everything. Very dangerous business.

    Sincerely,

On 12/19/24 I finished an application I started 2 weeks prior on the website ********. When I first started the application for a *** the website looked legit and the fields were identical to the ones on the ****** website. The company's website was designed to look like they were the federal government. When I went to open the application again today I was redirected immediately to my application and nowhere was there a sign this website is unauthorized. I learned that they changed the info on the website after another complaint was filed with BBB but it did not show up until I looked from another laptop. They provided a tracking number but no file has been submitted with the FinCEN. Also at the time of payment, they make it look like they need your card for the possible fines and I did not see anywhere how much they would be charging. This is obviously a scam and it should be made clear to everyone who already started the application before the changes they made.

This company, BOIR.org, deceptively presents itself as an official government site for **** filings, misleads customers into providing personal **********************, and charges credit cards without clear consent or fee disclosure. Details of the Complaint:I found BOIR.org at the top of ****** search results while looking for **** filing services. The website resembles an official government site, leading me to believe it was legitimate. After I entered all requested personal information, the site asked for my credit card details without explaining what the charge was for or the amount. They later charged my card without prior notice. **** filings on the official ****** site are free, yet this company exploits customer confusion to impose hidden fees. When I contacted the company for a refund after ****** rejected my filing (as I had already filed through my accountant), they refused to provide one. A representative I reached after significant effort repeatedly instructed me to "follow up with FinCEN" but would not address my concerns. When I insisted on a refund, she hung up on me. Their lack of transparency, refusal to address customer concerns, and misleading practices harm consumers and misrepresent the **** process. Supporting Evidence:- A recording of my call with their representative. - Proof of the unauthorized charge. Resolution Sought: I request a full refund of the charge and an investigation into their deceptive business practices to protect others.

I am rejecting this response because: I had to submit a dispute for a fraudulent charge with my credit card company to recover my money. The customer service representative I spoke with was unhelpful, providing only vague and evasive responses (I can share the recording of this conversation, if need be). This company is engaging in deceptive practices, taking advantage of people who mistakenly end up on its website.

    To Whom It May Concern:

All charges stated in the customer complaint are stated clearly and directly in multiple areas and pages of our website, including on the checkout page and pricing page which are both accessible before any payment is made. All charges are agreed to upon purchase of initial report and registration of account. We have already refunded these charges and cancelled the customer's account so he will not be charged again.

My wife went to go file the ****** BOIR for *********************. When she googled, the ******** website was one of the first ones to appear and it looked like a legitimate government website. In reviewing it retrospectively, it does have a disclaimer that it is not affiliated with the government, but the disclaimer was not clear and conspicuous. The info for my business was input when there was suddenly no option to hit a "submit" button and there was an endless loop of reviewing information. That is when we noticed something was fishy. My business received no confirmation email -- neither a confirmation email from ******** that our info was received/submitted nor a confirmation email from ****** that the filing was completed nor an email from ****** with the FinCen ID. Once the payment transaction hit the business bank account, we called the phone number on the line item but it was unanswered and said to email them with questions (and said it was boir.org and not ********). When we emailed, we got canned auto responses that they had high volume. When we checked their terms of service they talk about a privacy policy but it is not located anywhere on their website.Ultimately, it led my business to spend $349 on a required filing that would have been free to file. My business is very small and this is a significant amount. The intent was to file directly with the government but the website was misleading. Upon some research after the fact, it appears they have fooled a lot of people (enough so that ****** put an official notice about them on their website).
