I purchased a used engine to intall in my car .it came with a 3 year warranty. I had it shipped to my mechanic. he took a couple weeks to evaluate it. and he said the motor is no good. i have an email from him stating that. Then It took another 3 weeks to find a second mechanic to get a second opinion.and he too said the motor is trash.. I also has an email from them stating that fact , with pictures .I contacted the merchant and he refuses to give my money back. Even though it has a 3 year warranty. The engine is unusable. I paid approximatly $1300.00 for a product that is unusable.Business Response

We are very sorry to hear that you are not satisfed with the engine for your 1985 Pontiac Fiero 2.8 L Automatic 4x2 that you received back in October of 2022. Seems like you filed a charge back with your bank 2 days after receiving the product. We were unaware of any issues until we got a notification from the bank. We responded to the bank by telling them that you if you were not satisfied with the used engine that you can return with in 30 days. We have not received the engine back as of yet. The engine is good running but it is over 30 years old and it will look a bit rough but it is a good runner. You had 30 days to return the engine back in October 2022 and since you did not there nothing we can do now. ThanksCustomer Answer

,
I am rejecting this response because: the engine is unusable worthless.30 days is not enough time to evaluate an engine during the covid pandemic. due to the backlog of parts for new cars . people are using there used cars longer and needing repairs, backlogging all auto repair shops.
besides i reported damage to the engine within 1 day. and you refused to supply the replacement parts or issue a refund for the parts i had to replace. I asked you to put in an insurance claim for the engine damaged in shipment and you refused. you refused to do anything. I have all your emails proving this.
Sincerely,

I purchased a used 4.7 Liter Dodge Engine for $1599.00 from AM Used Auto Parts (******, **) on 2/21/23. I was told by ************************* the engine had ****** miles on it and would be run tested and cleaned before being shipped. Received the engine on 3/9/23. The mechanic unwrapped it on 3/24/23, called me and told me the engine was junk. ******** said the engine had a blown head gasket, crank sensor is rusted in the block and won't come out, the coil packs are gone for cylinders 1,5,3, and 7. Also, a socket is stuck on spark plug of #1 cylinder and cylinder 3,5, and 7 have ***** water sitting on the plugs. We called ************************* to take his engine back and refund my money. Was transferred to ***************************** who wanted pictures of the engine and told him the mechanic said the engine was JUNK. ***************************** said nothing is wrong with the engine. He told me it was a used engine and "sometimes they need a little work". How do you run test and engine when coil packs are missing from 1,3,5, and 7. a socket is stuck in #1 spark plug and there is water on the spark plugs of cylinders 3, 5, and 7??? So please explain to me how you run test an engine that's missing all these parts. Also paperwork of documented miles and run tested engine were supposed to come with the engine. No paperwork including the 3 year Warranty came with the engine. ******** said he WILL NOT INSTALL THIS ENGINE. Please mail me the *** so I can ship your piece of junk engine back to you. I want my money back.Business Response
Date: 04/12/2023
We are sorry that you are not satisfied with the used engine you ordered. We respect your mechanics opinion but there is no way to just look at a engine determine it has a blown head gasket before installing. When you purchase a use engine from us there are instructions that have to be done such as replacing oi, filter, gaskets and seals. That is what our warranty **** ment by explaining the work you had to do. If you do not want to install the used engine you are more then welcome to return with in 30 days of receiving. All this is on the confirmation form that you signed and agree to. All used parts show normal signs of wear and tear, but regardless, should work properly with proper installation.Customer Answer

Those are bolt on accesories and they removed from the engine like the alternator, compressor, etc.. You need those to run the engine as well but are not with the engine. Engines are ran tested in the vehicle before they are removed.Customer Answer

On February 24,2023. I purchased a used engine from AM auto parts in the amount of **** dollars. I also purchased a 3 year warranty, The engine was shipped to ****** and Brothers auto repair shop. Upon arrival the shop informed me that the engine had a tag on it stating that seals and gaskets had to be replaced on or before installation in order for the engine to be covered under warranty. I had the shop replace all parts that was required. Once everything was installed the shop started the motor and notice that the engine had a loud Knock and was no good. I immediately contacted the place of purchase claim department and was informed that the shop performing the installation had to run a series of test on video showing that the engine was defective, which they did and e mail it to them. They responded to the mechanic that the video was not long enough so a second video was sent. The warranty states that they would pay for return shipping of defective parts. On 04/10,2023 I received a email from AM auto parts stating that I had 7 days to return the engine at my cost or the warranty would not be valid. After taking the warranty contract to an attorney I was told that the contract was written in such a deceptive way that it provided no protection for the buyer. Right from the beginning it states that seals and gaskets must be replace. The company also stated that the motors they sell have been tested prior to shipping. How could you test the engine and not hear how bad it Knock.Business Response
Date: 04/12/2023
We are very sorry to hear that the used engine you purchased for your **** ***** truck went bad. Upon purchasing the engine we clearly state that our used parts only come with a 3 year parts warranty only. This is also on the contract that you signed and agree to before engine was pulled and shipped. We have no problem issuing a refund for the engine you purchased. Our claims ***** emailed you instructions on how to return the engine. Once the engine is returned we will inspect and issue you a refund. Engine must come back complete and no missing parts. I am rejecting this response because: according to ******* *********************** you are not being clear and conspicuous by offering some refund. Also your advertisement of engine sales is very misleading to the consumer. You sale automotive engines that are defective and has not been tested and you use the term part to avoid return shipping charge. As of date I am out of ***** dollars. I am requesting a full refund in the amount of ***** dollars which cover the cost of the engine and return shipping. Also exclude restocking fee as to avoid the resell of a defective motor. I ordered, and paid in full via credit card $2399.00, a transmission from this company on 3/9/2023. After numerous attempts to contact them by phone, leaving voice mails for salesperson *******, which were not returned, and an email reply asking ******* for a status update to which his response was "contact your salesperson", I finally got a call back from salesperson ******* notifying me that the part was not going to be available. This is after nearly a month of waiting. I was also informed that this now proven untrustworthy company could either mail a refund via a paper check, or take at least two to three weeks to credit my card. I am now waiting for that refund.Business Response
Date: 04/06/2023
Sorry to hear you are upset, we pulled 3 transmissions and all of them did not pass the final inspection. We tried our best to get you a quality part but these parts are coming out of accident vehicles. Once they are tested and made sure they are shifting properly we pull the part from the vehicle and then make sure they do not have any cracks on the unit. Unfortunately 3 units had cracks after removed from the vehicle. We are going to refund you in full. Thanks

I purchased a used engine that was advertised online from AM Used Auto Parts on 5/12/22 that was advertised with 54k miles and a 3-year warranty, but they would not provide the *** number of the auto it was removed from, therefore I don't know how many miles was actually on this engine. The engine sent only lasted ***** miles and started a" knocking noise." I made contact with the warranty department on October 7,2022 to active warranty to get a refund. Warranty rep. requested paperwork showing I had activated the warranty but I was totally unaware of any additional forms that needed to be signed. Therefore he said the warranty was NOT activated. But I thought the warranty was activated when engine was installed and all papers were completed.I was referred to the Sales Manager, he said would work around the warranty issue . He requested a video of the engine with knocking noise and diagnostic from the Chevrolet Dealer ( see attachment - diagnostic). He also said he would be going to the auction to buy another vehicle and once it was checked out, he would see if I wanted that engine and he promise to call me the following Wednesday but never called. So I called him several time and left many messages and he never answered/returned call. I continued to call and was put on hold for ***** minutes. As of today, I have not received a phone call or refund and I need my MoneyBusiness Response

On February 6th 2023 I purchased a used engine for my ******* Aviator from AM used Auto parts. Sales representative was ***********************. Cost was ******* I was told at that time by **** that the donor vehicle was in a rear end collision roughly 2 weeks prior and engine was running and fresh. Upon receiving the engine it was clear that it had been sitting for at least a couple years, but looked usable and in ok condition. The repair facility doing the work is a ******* dealership. To honor the warranty that comes from *****, there were multiple gaskets and seals that needed to be replaced the dealership proceeded to do these when they got to the oil pan which was one of the gaskets required to replace for warranty They found the oil pan itself damaged when they removed it they found many pieces of the timing components for the engine in pieces inside the oil pan engine unusable. When I contacted the company I spoke with a *****************************, he proceeded to tell me they had to run it by their superiors and let me know what they could do to help me. Upon calling back a day or two later I spoke with ******* again who at that time informed me that they would cover at the timing component kit and would send one out to me. That was over 3 weeks ago when I called back questioning where these parts were as the vehicle is at the dealership taking up space with no engine and the dealership is upset. ******* gave me no good information and proceeded to hang up on me when I became irate. I called back asking for a supervisor and spoke with one unsure of who I spoke with at this time They proceeded to tell me that it was being processed and that I would have shipping information shortly. That again was a week ago. No information no contact back I'm absolutely done with this company They s**** you over lie to you and offer no coverage whatsoever no help, they are rude and seem to have no moral ethics. At this time I want all my money back *******. All of it immediately.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: your parts did arrive They were installed by a professionally trained ******* technician at a ******* dealership parts were installed vehicle was then ready for start it started had no compression on cylinders two or eight leaking fluids out of the exhaust from the valves this engine was a brick from the start it will not run it has since seized You sold me a s*** engine under the false pretenses that it was running and in good condition that is clearly not the case this engine is a grenade and you doomed me from the start I have invested thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars well over ***** just in labor alone to have this engine installed and the timing redone only for it to not work and fail and be unusable unacceptable business practice from you guys I will be reaching out to the attorney general and filing a formal lawsuit if I do not get a full refund immediately. Any information can be obtained by the dealership upon request including video.

You told us that the engine could not be installed but now you are saying that it was installed? How can you install a engine that is locked up? If the engine is locked up then you can turn the flywheel to line up with the converter. Seems like you are switching up your story. We have videos of the engine running and turning before engine left. Seems like you are now switching up your story. Timming chain was sent to you and looks like you received. If you do not want send engine back in the same condition received and also our timing chain with in 30 days.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:No maybe I didn't make it clear so my next phone call will be to an attorney understand that right now. This is what happened My initial complaint was when they tore the engine down to replace the oil pan gasket which was part of the deal for the warranty coverage they found all the damage timing parts so yes at that time I called and complained to you guys to get the timing parts because I believe that was all that was wrong with the engine at the time that it turned They were able to turn and crank the engine at that time on the engine stand when they installed the timing parts again at a ******* dealership with ******* certified technicians they installed the timing kits put the rest of the engine back together and put it in my vehicle when they went to start it for the first time it had an incredible low end knock They drained the oil again which was again couple hours old and it was completely gray and full of metal which means the timing damage got further into the engine than anybody had suspected at the time now while they were trying to diagnose and do compression tests on the cylinders which they had succeeded in doing and found no compression in cylinder two or cylinder 8 while running during the end of the test the vehicle died just cut out and now it will not crank the engine has now seized That is what happened that is my problem if you have a problem give me a call otherwise an indirect response back from you guys will prompt me to call an attorney and file a lawsuit in which I will seek full refund as well as labor costs and damages I have been without this vehicle for almost 2 months now I'll do to your lack of actually quality checking products before they leave your facilities or wherever you happen to source them out from. Now I am out over $4,000 in labor for engine installation removal and timing all because I was sent a poor engine in the first place that was claimed to have been running and tested when clearly this engine had not run in many many years and most likely was not caused by an accident to total that vehicle but I guarantee that this engine died on the previous owner and they junked it. While I'm sure that can't be confirmed it sure as h*** looks like it so once again the ball is back in your court. no story was changed everything has happened exactly how I just described it if there's a problem again the next phone call will be from my attorney. Thank you.

I purchased a used Engine from AMused auto parts for $2,499.00 on Sept. 30, 2022, which had a 3 yr unlimited mile parts only warranty. And less than 6 mths later and the engine lifters have failed. I have contacted the company they have agreed to buy the lifters, but there are several other components that are involved when replacing the lifters that they are not willing to pay for Which are listed as covered components on my contract they are giving me the runaround. The parts that were ordered are very cheap unreliable parts,I am concerned that I will be in the same situation less than six months from now if I use these parts in my vehicle. The communication is very poor, and I've been told several times that My parts were order in 3/6/23 when the first contact was made on 3/1/23 and come to find out parts were not even ordered until 3/9/23. I am getting unprofessional statements about "it's irrelevant" and "not my business" where they order my parts from but ultimately they are ordered through Amazon which isn't a bad thing but the reviews and ratings arent good so in the long run I'm gonna be in the same boat, replacing them again in no time, I just think that they are trying to take the cheap way out of the warranty and I have more than enough proof that everything I'm asking for is all relevant parts for the lifters being replace... they tried to tell me that the heads don't have to be removed to get the lifters out which is incorrect for this engine.I would like all parts listed on the invoice submitted either sent to me or paid for as the warranty indicates they should be, all listed parts and components are due to failed lifters from a engine that was supposed to only have 56k miles which was clearly a lie, it was more like 100k+on it from the looks of it and was remanufactured, I asked for proof of the miles and a video of it running and never received that either, also have proof of that, at this point I just want my vehicle running with reliable parts.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: the lifters they sent are junk, please see reviews I would be ok with the lifters that are more reliable I dont expect top end but definitely not unreliable parts that I will have to replace again quickly and they refused to pay for the head gaskets at first so if they *************** ok with that again just not junk parts the shop estimated $900 for a set of 8 lifters but my mechanic found a good trustworthy set for $440 the lifters the sent me cost $148 total that should tell you they arent good parts also to send the engine back would be not be ideal due to the shipping cost and all the new parts I put on it I would take a loss I just want them to honor their warranty as stated with reliable parts I have made contact with my attorney and he is working on a correspondence to send them

Sorry to hear you are upset. We sell used engines that are ran tested and come with a 3 year. You did not like the engine based on looks and never installed it because you assumed that it was bad just by looking at it. There is labor cost of running the engine, pulling it and then getting ready to ship. Then we have to pay a company to ship it. Our warranty clearly states "I understand that all cancelled orders shipped, refused shipments, unwanted parts (for any
reason), and all parts ordered in error will be subject to a 20% RESTOCKING FEE and $300.00 SHIPPING COSTS". You signed and agreed to this before we part was pulled.Customer Answer

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:This engine has obvious signs of oil and sludge leaking from the head gaskets. It is also obvious the head gaskets were replaced at some point and failed. This engine, as stated by you, was not run tested. If you had run tested you would not have shipped this junk.
You did not pay a company to ship it, I did! The part was not ordered in ERROR. I did not sign your agreement as stated. I shipped the motor back in my truck.
See attached photo of engine sludge...
Sincerely,
