On June 13 2025 I contacted Safe Ship Moving *** to inquire about hiring movers with a truck to move from my apartment in ** to MD which is around 65 miles according to ****** map.The representative asked what items I had and I told him a regular size sofa, 2 queen bed frames and mattresses, 2 dressers, a chair with an ottoman, a kitchen table with 4 chairs, a 55in tv and a tv stand.He asked me how many boxes of household items I had and I said about 15 large and medium moving boxes from ***********The price he said was $1045 first then $682 at pickup and $682 at drop off. I paid $1045 with a credit card and the moving date was set at July 14 or 15.On July 11 they called and asked again what items needed moving and I repeated the same stuff as I told them in the beginning. He then said the sofa wasnt on the list plus I only can have 15 small boxes so the charge will be $1000 at the pickup $1000 at delivery. I know I told them about the sofa because he asked if it was a sectional and I told him it was a regular sized sofa.They dropped this on me a just days before my moving date and I am very upset about how they went about trying to ***** more money knowing I only have a few days before I have to vacate my apartment. I got upset and canceled the truck because I couldnt trust them anymore. I felt they could add more charges at anytime for any reason they could come up with.I am in a super stressful situation with everything packed and no truck now!I want to file this complaint so youre aware this company is dishonest and will scam people at their most vulnerable moment. They have a fancy website with good reviews and thats why I contacted them at first but had no idea how they would try to scam more money just before moving date.Business Response

The company lacked transparency on all levels. Was not aware that this is not even a moving company they are a brokerage. The line of communication from this company is absolutely horrible. They bait you with a contract that does nothing for the consumer, but only protects them to continue to abuse their power in the fact that they have your items. They send out movers that were contracted out via bids to pick up your things and do not inform you that your stuff is just being loaded onto a truck to be stored and then loaded onto another truck when they finally decided to deliver it. You do not get notified until less than 24 hours prior on when your delivery date is going to be. I took off of work for a week because I was told my things would be delivered 0-7 days. That week came and went. I called to reach out to tell them I was not available the rest of the week they said their was nothing they could do and the next day I get a call that they will be delivery my items. I am a nurse and work hours away. My mother took off of work to be available for the delivery for the time frame that they provided. Because their truck did not meet the height requirements for a tunnel on their route they were delayed. Because of this delay my mother was not able to be available for the delivery and now I am going to be charged 250 dollars for storage and 300 dollars for my items to be redelivered. They also do not inform you that they load as much stuff as possibly onto and 18 ******* and then when the 18 ******* cant access your home they charge you another 400 dollars to shuttle your items. I contacted customer service so many times and either was told I would be called back and never called back or was told by them that this was my problem and everything was just an estimate. This is 100 percent a corrupt and misleading company and they take advantage of people who have to use less costly same day movers but then bait and switch them with all these added fees. Writing to convey my profound disappointment and frustration with the handling of our moving process by Safe Ship Moving Company. We made arrangements well in advance, discussing the details of our move and receiving a quote in February 2025 for $6,800 based on a comprehensive walkthrough. However, 8 June 2025 we were quoted an outrageous $20,000-$30,000 for the same move. We cancelled the move and have not been reimbursed for the deposit nor have we received the cancelation agreement. I contracted this company to move me on June 26 2025. I was given a quote and proceeded to give agent the details of my 1800 mile move. Date would be August 1. I missed their 72 -hour cancellation policy for deposit they take after you sign papers. I printed all these documents. My complaint is simple: ************ did nothing to earn half of the $5400 binding moving estimate. I paid Safe Ship Moving (SSM) to move furniture etc PA->NV. Paid >$3,250 on 6/3/25, paid movers >$2,700 on 6/5 pickup. Have not gotten items back; ************ sleep on floor. Pickup was 34 days ago. I req'd delivery 30 days (22 bz days) ago. Under svc agreement I'm entitled to 31 days free storage w/max 20 bz-day delivery window after request.I req'd delivery 30 days (22 bz) ago, 6/9/25. 6/10 I called back to confirm correct ****************** plan in place; they confirmed. Movers called & said will take ~3 days.Have called SSM regularly to track delivry **************** no helpful info. On 6/20 spoke ***** who said I had not req'd removal from storage. She said records show I put in change of address on 6/10 (incorrect; that was address ************************ was not in process & she offered to "create a ticket" to begin removal from storage. I called back many times 6/10-11 getting diff info from diff ***** but when I spoke to same **** she insisted "ticket was created," but not that it was being executed. In calls since, no *** admitted knowledge of ticket.Have called SSM regularly since, who evade responsibility & do not help nor update on shipment status. I regularly call movers, with 0 success of getting them on phone.Called SSM 2 days ago to say contractual delivry window closing & see if there's a plan. Reception fwd me to *** voice mailbx. I left detailed msg & req'd callback, but no callback. Yesterday called again & spoke ***** who tried to contact movers. He said they were outside bz hours (a little > 2pm, so > 5pm Eastern time). Said try again today (6/9)This morn made 2 calls to SSM. 1st *** said unable to contact movers; offered to fwd me to *mumble*, disconnected my call. 2nd *** fwd me to ********* in customer svc. S put me on hold, then said he tried to call movers 3 times, will try them throughout day & get back & would bring issue to mgr/dispatcher.Don't know if I will ever get belongings back. Contract was w/Safe Ship, then Quick Shift did the pickup at CA locations. My move was fr ************ **********************- 2 trucks, 1 to ** and 1 to ***They were to pickup on 6-2-25 (1 day, 2 pickup stops). On 6-1 I was called and they said between 1 and 3 at ************, I said that's too late, because there is a lot to pickup in ************, & a 1 hour drive to ******************** have to be out of the ******************** at 6 pm. They showed up @ 2 pm, loaded the items in one truck, not 2, they will sort out the ** vs FL mdse in **************. We got told to leave the ************** storage facility at 6:00 and we managed to stay until 6:30 pm. Junior, the main guy promised they would be back at ************** at 10:00 AM on 6-3 - they were not even supposed to be there that day, but all done on 6-2, and he would have 10 men with him. They arrived at 1:30 pm with 2 guys, I had to leave at 3:15 to return my car and fly back to **, so had to leave the men at the storage place to pack my mdse. I did not get a detailed paperwork receipt, just one that says, boxes, etc. for each place, FL and **. I had to hire a company to clean out the storage units with what was left there, and who knows what that was, that cost me another $1,000 to load and clean up the place. They jacked up my price on 5-30 for each load, saying it was more than 1/3 of a semi, that is was half. When they delivered to FL it was barely 1/3 of a semi, and to ** was 1/2 of a 26 ft box truck, not even a semi. Many items mangled and broken. Have called and emailed and no one at Quick Shift or Safe Ship reply. FL was finally delivered on 6-21 and ** was finally delivered on 7-1. It took umpteen phone calls to get delivery info, and then it was sketchy, because they kept giving me false info about where my truck was and I asked for 2 day notice because my nephew was meeting the ** truck and he needed to take off work. The ** driver barely spoke English and mangled my merchandise.Business Response

I hired them to pick up my belongings in ******** and bring them to ** they were late and had me and my family sitting at the house waiting for days. When they finally arrived everything was broken and stained they dropped my 85' TV on the ground in which is a ***** TV. They stained my ***** comforter it was not in a box it was just left out. They broke my ***** bed in which can not be fixed so i am without a bed in the master bed room I have recordings of the people that dropped the stuff off saying i cannot believe how damaged everything is and where not the ones that packed it. This company refuses to stop calling my phone. I have blocked multiple numbers, i have politely asked to be removed from the call list and have been hung up on every time. They called me last week at at 11pm. They called me again this afternoon. They have called me at least 5 times in the past week. I have filed an *** complaint as well.Business Response

Safe Ship Moving Services. We were told movers would pick up items and deliver them the same day. They did not. We were then told they would deliver on Monday; they did not. They charged an extra $600 on . No one told us why. They charged an extra $415 on dilivery for coming down the street. They charged an extra $111 for using a charge card which they did not tell us. I could not get ahold of the original person I spoke to. Things were missing in the shipment, things were packed that should not have been packed. Clothes were strewn into boxes. Boxes werh damaged. I used safe ship to help coordinate a interstate move. The poor service and misleading nature of their business is unacceptable. They lure you in with a quote for an amazing price for the move. After they collect your nonrefundable security deposit they adjust the quote and add thousands to what was initially quoted. Then when the delivery happened the delivery company they contract adds several more thousand due to safeship not accurately quoting proper space on the delivery truck. All in all my initial quote was $7600 and I ended up paying almost $15k due to their intentional, misleading and unacceptable business practices. They were supposed to listen to my phone call to determine if the person providing the estimate did not accurately record information causing my quote to be wrong. It's been a week and I have not been contacted by anyone. They do not follow up as promised and unless I call them repeatedly I get no help.Business Response
