If I could give negative stars, I would. This has been the worst company I've ever dealt with.
HARP installed a new boiler in 2020. It has failed a dozen times over the last 3 years. Every time a new technician is sent out. The problem is never solved. I guess the only positive is that it is so new that it is still under warranty. Unfortunately, it usually means that we are without heat and hot water for a few days each time.
Most recently, our system went out on the Monday before Christmas. The technician came out on Monday and said that he needed to order new part and that it would be in Tuesday. HARP came back and installed the new part on Tuesday, but found that it was actually ANOTHER part that needed to be replaced. That part also needed to be ordered and I was told it would be in on Wednesday. After not hearing anything Wednesday morning, I called and spent over 2 hours on the phone with HARP trying to figure out if the part was in and when they could come out. Of course it wasn't in until Thursday. Then, when HARP came out on Thursday they broke the replacement part when they tried to install it! This company is incompetent and doesn't care that its customers are in the cold. Use anyone besides HARP.

HARP Home Services is NOT to be trusted. A HARP service tech inspected our 8 yr old heating system (9/23) and told us the heat exchanger was 'compromised', and shut down our system, telling us it could emit CO and other dangerous gases into the home. While STILL AT our home, he had my wife on the phone with HARP, getting a quote for a brand new system. Meanwhile, he quoted us $6800.00 to repair our existing system.
The HVAC contractor who originally installed our system came out the same day, inspected the furnace, especially the heat exchanger and gas flames – and pronounced the unit perfectly sound, noting that this was the 4th time in the last year he had been called to a home after a HARP service tech had found a problem with a heating unit. In all 4 cases, no real problem was found.
We then re-contacted HARP, and spoke with Rick, who promised to send out two experienced techs to evaluate our unit in more detail. Rick told us that if Harp was wrong, he would replace our unit with a new one at no charge – but also assured us that they were never wrong. These techs spent 2 hours going over our unit and found NOTHING wrong. They shrugged their shoulders and left. (No gas emission issues either).
We next received an offer for the new unit, including installation. HOWEVER, we noted the warranty on the unit as offered is 5 years parts, NO labor. We find this offer of a “free unit”, with no labor warranty to be just as underhanded as the initial report of a ‘compromised’ heat exchanger (and the hard push to sell us a new unit). Labor costs with just one repair could be huge; offering us a ‘free’ new unit with no labor warranty is a sneaky way for HARP to make back their cost of the unit.
Along with this offer was an additional offer to add a 10 year parts and labor warranty - cost: $3800! I guess that too would cover their cost for the new unit!

This company completely scammed us. I should have done my due diligence but this company took advantage of two senior citizens by over charging us by nearly 3 times what other local companies would have charged us. Our central air wasn't blowing cool air so we called them. They came 4 days later and diagnosed the problem as a broken capacitor. Price to replace and install was $650.00. Then, the service repair man spent 20 minutes trying to convince us that we needed to replace the entire system for $7000-$12,000. He seemed surprised when my husband and I didn't bite. He was here for about 45 minutes, and did not leave a receipt for the work. The entire visit seemed off to me. Within the hour, I looked up the average price of a capacitor and installation in my area (Windsor), and it was between$80.00- $200.00. I felt sick. So I called another local HVAC company and asked for a price on a new capacitor and installation- we were quoted $185.00. This company confirmed that we had been had. We called to speak with a manager for HARP that day and the next. Finally, Melissa called my husband and after telling her we planned to contact the BBB and the Department for Consumer Protection, she agreed to refund us $200.00 AND send us a receipt for the work. That was 8 days ago. We have heard nothing and received nothing as of this writing. Don't use this company,

They charged me $95.00 just to come out and look at my toilet's filler valve. Once here, they wanted me to pay them $400.00 for a 10-minute job. I refused. I bought a valve for $35.00 on the Internet and installed it myself in 15 minutes. It was a matter of turning the water off under the toilet, unscrewing the old valve, and screwing in the new one.
Shop around before you settle for the outrageous prices this company charges.

The WORST company. Over the last two weeks I have spent a total of 15 hours waiting for someone to answer the phone. He diagnosed the problem, then the part took a week to arrive, the repair appointment took another week. Two weeks now and it’s still broken. Technician left after 4 hours today and 5 mins after he was gone it broke again. I shouldn’t say again because he never fixed it. $94 to diagnose $1041 to “repair” $800 in AC window units to survive the heat wave. Two days of lost wages following a Technician around my house and we are no better off than we were 2 weeks ago. I called as soon as it stopped tonight and was on hold for over two hours. I have no idea how they can treat customers like this and still stay open.

We had Steve Ungar out to our grandmother’s house yesterday to look at her unit. Do to the experience we encountered we will NEVER use HARP again! We have cameras set up in the home due to her being elderly, so we can check in on her. We have video proof of Steven telling her that if she does not get a new unit he will put her on a do not service list. I cannot believe HARP would allow someone like this to work for the company and to try and scam older people. I ended up reaching out to a smaller company and the gentleman that came inspected the unit, explained all his findings and even explained what Steve found better than Steve did. We were told from this other company that there is nothing wrong with it and it still has some years left, because we have been maintaining it. I am personally reaching out to the Better Business Bureau and ******* because I am sure this is not the first time something like this has happened. I am appalled that this man still has a job if he is pulling stunts like this.
I understand companies need to make money but going about it immorally and threating an elderly person is not the right way to meet your quota or keep a customer. I recommend that no one use this company and if you do make sure to tell them that you do not want Steve Ungar at your home because not old does he not know what he is talking about but he will try to sell you something you do not need.

If I could give no stars, I would. I have separate AC units for residence. Top floor was blowing hot air. HARP was contacted and sent a technician on 4/13/2023. He said issue was there was no coolant and filter need replacement. It was fixed and he said there was no payment since it was covered under warranty. (Purchased Unit from HARP). Also commented that I had not had unit serviced. I told him it was because HARP had cancelled all my previous maintenance appointments, and he agreed. When I returned home, I noticed the unit was still not working and blowing out hot air. At 8pm it was 89 degrees upstairs. I called HARP (took two attempts because I was disconnected) and told them issue. They had no one available to come out but said they would schedule for first thing in the morning. 4/14/2023 I called HARP after 8 AM and was told they had no openings until Saturday 4/15/23 between 2-6 PM yet they advertise, "Same day service." At 2:33 PM HARP dispatch called me and said all their techs were taking Saturday off and no was available. Needless to say I found someone else. I have used HARP for over 12 years and they were once good. Their quality and customer service is extremely poor quality now. I believe this changed when they were bought by a larger company. I will not call them again.

On 5/21/22, the ******* a.c. unit installed by HARP in 2015 stopped working due to a water pump malfunction. I was advised the part came from overseas and would arrive by the end of June. Later, that ETA was pushed back to September. However, it was another two months before the part arrived and work was finally completed, on 11/23/2022. The fix was done WITHOUT installation of a new water pump - a fix that could presumably have been accomplished back in May.
Communication was next to impossible. Hours were spent on hold, and calls were routinely disconnected. Nine recorded messages left on the service manager's cell phone went unanswered. At one point, I drove to the ******* office - it was the only way I could speak with him.
It's unfortunate I didn't read all of the negative **** and BBB reviews before engaging this company's services. I don't know how they stay in business.
