I ordered a shed from tough shed through ********** and has been a total nightmare. We paid over $21,000 for this shed and ***** was always there to help before we completed purchase after this it has not been the same. they built the garage door opening 6 inches too big. I called multiple times to get assistance on getting 2 new panels to fix issue. I just ordered them and figured we would get taken care of later. after multiple calls my sales rep ***** would only reply via email even when he was back in the office. No call to say he was going to get to the bottom, of this matter just emails. Then on October 22nd I got a call from a manager letting me know he was sorry and would get reimbursed on My card for the 2 panels and would take 3-7 business days. now over 2 weeks later still no refunded and after this issue no follow up from ***** again to make sure that I received credit. Do not use tough shed go with your local shop that will take your calls and are not too busy for you after the sale.Business Response

The customer installed his own garage door, and he bought two additional panels to make up for the additional space. The Sales Manager for Tuff Shed spoke to the customer agreed and submitted the refund/credit information to The ********** the same day he spoke to ******************. ****************** is out of town and will be picking up the check once he returns. The delay was due to processing done through the ********** system and there was a delay in their system but the check is ready to pick up at the **********.Initial Complaint

I ordered a replacement door on my TuffShed early July, pre paid for it too.A service manager, *****, told me how to measure the old door but did not send out a tech to measure. Consequently, the first door didn't fit.I had to call/vm/text ***** to get any info on when their on-site team would make the door and install. ***** never got back to me so after ********************************************************************************* the office, i.e. scheduling. Finally, I got someone who said the build order would begin on 7/11, it took 2 hours, and install would be on 24th. The door didn't fit so they took it back. The remake door was finally completed on 7/31 after.me tracking it down with 17 attempted communications by me to find out when they will install. They finally sent someone on 8/1. The tech was by himself and new to company with no training or experience with installing 80 pound door. An impossible expectation especially given ***** set him up for failure with wrong hardware, not right size screws, never saw nor did this before, ***** gave him terrible & wrong instructions by phone, and then to not send someone who could help/advise him on site. This company created poor workmanship, no longevity, and lack of sturdiness of door. The problem has now landed on the customer. They need to be called out and consumers need to be protected!Even the other employees don't care, never called me back for updates when they said they would, ***** (service manager) ghosted me for weeks, and now I'm stuck with a poor quality door, no customer service, and couldn't be a worse experience for my $462 door.I now have a shed that's usable and I never could get satisfaction. Now I will have to hire a different company to get my shed door correct. There is nothing I can do, this company has a culture poor customer service and lack of caring; now I have door that won't last, doesn't look good, and lowest quality is the final result.Business Response

The Tuff Shed was purchased several years ago and is no longer covered under warranty-2016. The door had rotted so customer sent in measurements for a new door. The new door did not have correct measurements once we tried to install it. Tuff Shed employee brought back correct specs and new door was fabricated and installed.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:Their response does not even address the ongoing main complaint of the extremely poor workmanship & incorrect installation of the door.
The installation left the new door not able to shut, the wrong short screws left the door flimsy and not secure at the hinges, and the handle installed with wrong orientation (sideways). The door is unstable as a result of their installation as a result of the shortcuts, untrained installer, and extremely poor management responses.
The business should not be allowed to get away with the harmful, expensive, and unethical behavior to the unsuspecting customers.
Sincerely,

**** mentioned Tuff Shed lack of Responsiveness
********************* original shed warranty ended in 2021, and when the customer requests an after warranty services, a quote is sent out for review and if customer agrees to pay. A payment link is sent to the customer to pay because service rendered after warranty payment is required to be paid in full just like a shed install.Services were paid by the ********************* on July 3rd for the shed door replacement.
For Services we need a few days to line up the installer/ technician and incorporate prefabrication of items ( in this case a shed door) into the workload for our fabricators. Tuff shed had every intention of reaching out to the customer the following week but unfortunately, we suffered the lost of power due to hurricane ***** that came in on July 7th. When we received power on the 11th, we were able to answer ********************* call.
Due to damages to the facility from the hurricane, those were a priority to address so all of our Employees have a safe work environment to continue production.
Communication between ***** and **** via text was prompted and the delay of **** receiving her shed door replacement is not a reasonable reason to receive full refund due to the circumstances. The majority of ******* needed to recover from Hurricane *****.
********************* mentioned unusable product
We have a video of the shed door during the installation process, and it shuts and opens. If it doesn't open now, it is due to customer direction as mentioned in prior response.
"Tuff Shed standard requires a gap between trim and door in order to operated properly, but customer refused our direction. We will be happy to go back and install it to Tuff Shed install standard, if the customer gives us an opportunity to do so."
Tuff Shed is requesting to go back to ********************* property so we can install the door to our standards.Tuff Shed prides themselves of providing a quality product and Tuff Shed, having been in business for over 40 years, is a testament of that.
Tuff shed does not believe a refund is warranted because services and product is installed on ********************* 2016 Tuff Shed.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********.There has been NO direction nor participation by me regarding the door installation. This is absurd by Tuff Shed.
I am still concerned that tuff shed quality of installation will be a repeat of the failed installation that prompted this BBB complaint in the first place.
All my attempted commmunications ( way before and after *********************) with Tuff Shed in ******* simply asked for my door to open and shut. I gave done nothing to the door at any point post installation, another absurdity.
I am 73 year old woman in ***** and tuff shed' s attempt to extort me and misrepresent themselves to the public is why I have turned to the BBB for help.
I am tired of all the ignoring me. excuses now. and there is no video of the door operating properly at installation because it never did.
Yes, they can do a second attempt at making their door open and shut freely and properly, fix door handle to be aligned correctly, and straighten the crooked door in the opening.
If they fail again, which is more probable than not given that they maintain they already did a functional/quality installation the first time, I will be back at square one with this complaint.
One more try, then if still doesn't work properly, I will only accept a full refund on their non- functional door.
Sincerely,

I have been waiting for 2 weeks since my last email (the last one in chain below) for The Tuff Shed company to reinstall the door.
Since this was the objective all along to get a door that svtually works, I accepted their offer to send someone to fix it.
I always doubted that they will finally do what is right, based on their past interactions with me.
Apparently, I am right. They are still ignoring me, and BBB.
I wish to reopen this complaint because they have not made any effort in good faith to resolve the orginal complaint (22077929).
I now, as I said in my last response, will now only accept the original request of a full refund.
I would appreciate a quick response so I can hire a reputable installer to finally get my door to function. Time is of the essence because I have been waiting to use my shed since end of July.
Disappointed, but not surprised,

Tuff Shed has been very prompt to response back to the BBB.
As requested before we would like to adjust the install of the tuff shed door to our tuff shed standards.
**** ****** seemed very admit to not have us back on her property, ( mentioning she wanted to get someone else)but I am happy to see she would like to move forward with Tuff Shed adjusting shed door so it will operate properly.

I am rejecting this response because: since Aug 4th, tuff shed has been unresponsive and very poor business ethics.I have not gotten any communications from them, except through BBB. I had been very open to giving this companybanother chance, and another, and another.
They continually ignore me until this supposed offer of Friday install. I am working that day so can't do this.
Additionally, Tuff shed has demonstrated their intention of dishonorable behavior and false/weird/irrelevant communication and responses even to this BBB complaint.
No one should trust them as evidenced repeatedly on this complaint.
I compromised my orginal desired outcome to get my refund, but tuff shed again never followed through to get this done. I stand behind my refund solution again!!
The Consumer needs to be forewarned about this unethical and bizarre behavior by the company and the employees.
Very disappointedly,

Their driver hit my wrought iron fence on May 13, 2024 while delivering a shed to my neighbors home. The next day I contacted the business to tell them what happened, I provided them with ***** pictures, which they requested. Two weeks later I called and spoke with *************************** who I was told would be handling my claim and he asked me to send him my receipt for the original installation, I then told him to contact *****#**;s Home Improvement**;s Pro Desk and that they could provide him all of my information for the original installation. I purchased my Tuff Shed May 29th with a delivery date of approximately 2 weeks. It is now going on 2 months and I have made payment on something I do not even have in my possession. I went to cancel and was promised it would be made right. I worked with them on that and continued on. I was told it would be delivered the 23rd of July and hasnt come. Now they have the almost exact build for sale with immediate delivery for $2000 less than I paid. It has been nothing short of a horrible experience and have spent over $8000 and have nothing to show for it but emails and texts! I would like a $2500 credit to my credit card.Business Response

We worked out an agreement with the customer. He is continuing his current order with us. He understands the pricing difference between a display and an install. He express his main frustrations with the miscommunications since the sale started. The agreement is we are covering the first two payments that he has already made of coming to a total of $750, and we will have his shed to him this month once the permit is in.Initial Complaint

In March 22, 2024 I ordered a Garage from Tuff Shed, my foundation guy needed the Engineer stamp for the rafters in order to put in for a building -excavation permit, I paid $600.00 for the blueprints and the Engineer stamp. I was assured by sales men **** that would be done. On 4-15-24 received blue prints but no engineer stamp, I again was assured. That the Engineer stamp would be provided. At this time 4-16-24 gave 50% or $11,000.00 cashers check from my bank and handed in person to ******* the general manager. Long story short never received the engineer stamp, I gave ******* until June 16, 2024 or I would cancel order. Which I did, on June 24th ******* states she requested the refund. Today is July 24th 2024 and I have had an email from ******************************* a regional Manager to state the problem which I did on July 23,2024. I have called the accounts receivable on 7-19, 7-23 and 7-24. Being promised that ******* would personally call me 7-23-24. I purchased a shed in June 2024, I went and ordered it and ********************* did my order he convinced be to upgrade to the premium floor which included metal studs and 3/4 treated plywood. I had surgery so didnt get a chance to look the shed over. Upon inspection I saw the floor was OSB and not treated plywood. I contacted the office in ******* tx and spoke with ****. I was told it would be corrected she then said just to paint seal it would be ****** because he didnt charge me. I was in the auto repair business 30yrs and ****************************************************************************************** not that is what they asked for. The premium floor doesnt have a package with metal joists and OSB decking. I will not be using tuff shed again as well as not recommend them. They screwed up not me. On top of that the sealer wont seal the underside which is what needs it, I can seal the top of floor with less than a gallon. Also the building isnt even touching the block no shims or anything so over time the floor will warp.Business Response

Customers building was built and installed per the signed purchase agreement (See attached). We have offered to provide an additional inspection and have offered to repair the floor if it is blocked incorrectly. We have also offered to treat the floor with the smart floor treatment to help prevent future issues for a minimal fee. This upgrade was not included in the original purchase that was agreed upon. We have attempted to contact the customer multiple times and was hung up on every time. We are eagerly waiting for a response from the customer to complete these services.Initial Complaint

Better Business Bureau and Tuff Shed Incorporated:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********. Our customer experience was very disappointing. Concerns expressed to Tuff Shed management were dismissed at several levels. Extensive escalation correspondence and three separate attempts to finish the installation were required. Only now do I feel the purchased structure is no longer in direct jeopardy. The structural problems and rainwater leaks appear to have been corrected.

Unprofessional work with building that was installed!!! The building is not leveled tried to blame it on the concrete contractor. I had to pay additional money for repour to find out by another contractor that it was never the concrete it was the building. I have photos of building not leveled after concrete was corrected to TuffSHed liking for building to sit correctly. I have not gotten my door that I paid for and keep being told its out of stock for months now and keep being told they are working on it.Business Response
Date: 07/17/2024
Our District Manager sent out the factory superintendent to review the concrete footing and it was determined it is out of level. It seems that concrete subcontractor placed blame on Tuff Shed. The superintendent revisited the site late last week and used a laser level to verify that the top plate of the building is level and reconfirmed that concrete was not leveled. Customer saw firsthand what issue is in person. Resolution was made to true up building in conjunction with concrete rework to make bottom sill flush with concrete surface. This was communicated to customer last week and she accepted the plan of action. When constructing the shed the foundation must be level for trusses to line up adequately. The reason for the gap during installation is due to customer supplied foundation slab having a slope.Initial Complaint

on 5-20-21 I had a painted tuff shed installed on level ground with pavers under each corner, for $2,446.00. I now have mildew all over the ceiling panels. There is no liquid stored in the shed. This is unacceptable and not up to the quality you advertise. I've been told that is not under warranty, but I am not responsible/guilty of neglect in any way. Perhaps this is the result of improper installation. When I asked the company if others have had this problem, they said yes. This tells me that the company has a problem they should be held responsible for. I am a senior citizen and to expect me to be on a ladder to spray down the surface with bleach (their recommendation)is not OK. If this is not resolved, I will openly use the internet to discourage others from buying from Tuff Shed!Business Response

My Tuff Shed was installed on 6-15-24. My husband and I spent most of the day watching them install it. The installers were going to install the shed in the wrong direction even though the area was already leveled and had gravel to match the width of each side. 10x12. My husband had to tell them which way was the correct way and where the door should be facing. Not to mention they installed the vent on the wrong side of the shed. He had a hard time communicating with the gentleman because he didn't speak very much english. They installed the window and vent but never sealed/caulked them. I had to do it after they left. The top left side of the roof has the shingle installed incorrectly. We also had paint included in the install and they only put on one coat and not 2 like they were supposed to. I asked them for the remainder of the paint and they gave me about 1/4 bucket full of the black trim paint and a FULL bucket of the blue paint. Had they applied the second coat like they were supposed to there would be almost no blue paint left. I sent 2 emails, called twice, and text messaged them 7 times explaining my issues and asking for a managers email or phone number and was given zero info. All she told me was someone would contact me within 72 hours. Today has been day 6 and no response from anyone. I told them I wanted them to come back and apply not only the second coat of paint but also to fix the shingle that was installed incorrectly. We get very strong winds in IN and I don't want the shingle that was installed incorrectly to fly off and cause water damage inside the shed or anywhere else. I signed the paperwork in the correct time allotment so the warranty would be applied. Since I signed the paperwork no one will answer me. I have a ton of pictures but I can only download a few because there's too many photos.Business Response

Per our operations manager:
I have been in contact with this customer and I assured her that we will be taking care of all her concerns. We wanted to be out there sooner, but she wanted both her and her husband to be home when we returned. On Saturday, July 6, we will be sending out a crew to do a full second coat addressing all the missed parts on the siding, redo the ridge caps, and install a new vent on the opposite wall of where the current vent is.We both agreed to a follow up on Saturday to make sure everything went well up to Tuff Shed standards, and that she is completely satisfied.

I am rejecting this response because: No one showed up today, Juky 6th. I emailed them at 10:30 to tell them not one person came or called.
