10/16/24 install date for a shed with custom four foot overhang with porch. We put a deposit down with the balance to be paid when the shed was completed, the shed to date is not completed. They left the shed in terrible condition, the walls were not painted correctly, they had chips all over the entire shed, floors had gaps in them, as well as the windows, nails are sticking out dangerously, gaps in the overhang, French doors dont open and close correctly. The porch floor were cut incorrectly leaving large gaps and bowed boards. Paint on the boards was carelessly done around trim dripping into trim. They came back to repaint the shed and used a different style of paint causing it to need to be repainted again flat used first used satin on the back. Front corners on porch were covered to hide shotty workmanship it didnt hide it.Business Response

The date of Purchase was 10/08/2024 with ********** for a Tuff Shed with a discount. I just found out three days ago that **** the representative who sold me the shed was actually in ***** and was in the **************************** I thought I was talking to Tuff Shed Headquarters. I just finished talking to a gentleman named **** ********* who is in Sales in ******* ********** (close to me) and where their Factory is. **** assured me when asked that they do NOT assemble their own Tuff Sheds, they contract them out. He assured me that these contractors are held to their high standards and are no longer given jobs if they fail to meet their requirements. They sent us a young man named ******** and he made a nightmare of this shed!Let me be clear, from the moment I first spoke with **** I requested a "custom shed" and I wanted the exact shed that was in their commercial with ********* *****, and the shed she had custom-made for herself. If you ****** "********* ******* Tuff Shed: you will see the video.**** pulled it up while we spoke and was the only one familiar with the shed I spoke of. No one else I asked knew anything about the shed I asked for and admitted to it. Although Tuff Shed in ******* keeps telling me they will make everything right, they want to put a bandaid in everything instead of replacing it properly and they keep changing the dates to come out and take care of these multiple errors. Yesterday **** at Tuff Shed told me they may not be able to come out now on 11/27/2024. One week from today will be one month since the shed was completed and no one has taken the time or interest to make this a priority! I will send the photos via a text message to ************ as it is the only means I have to send them from my phone. There are 8 problems with the shed and they are aware of all of them.I either want this shed completely replaced with the one I asked for, or all the damages replaced with new parts.Business Response

During her initial purchase, she was describing to the agent on the phone what she wanted. What was heard and designed was a different shed;missing several key pieces and components that were critical to the overall project. This design was approved via email and sent to fabrication. Once local management was aware of the problem, we committed to purchasing for her the desired Grided windows and providing other adjustments. These adjustments include hanging the patio door correctly and fastening one joint in a wall space that was not as well connected by the 3rd party contractor. Additionally, the lead time of the windows is 3-4 weeks creating further frustration.
Once the windows come in (ETA Dec 2, 2024) local Tuff Shed associates will install the windows, and as a measure of excellent customer service, an additional 2 windows that were missing in the original design.
All windows purchased and installed will be done at no additional cost to the customer. At that point, she will be made whole, and Tuff Shed will have surpassed what was approved in the design as a measure of excellent service levels.
Thank you,Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. All issues have been replaced and are acceptable to me. The windows are the only issue left. We are expecting shipment on 12/21/2024 and they will be installed on this date. The Tuff Shed Director "****" has agreed to allow my new contractor to start, due to the window delays.

I inquired about a shed with a tall door that opened outwards. I Informed him that my son is 65. I also wanted the shed to sit low to the ground. He sent me a picture of a shed, but the door height was only 6 tall, so I upgraded to a tall premier Ranch, which only had a 62 tall door. My son and I went to the showroom and looked at the sheds and saw one with a standard door. We inquired about that door, and ***** told us that that type of door only opens inwards, but it was the height we needed. We said we have to think about it. There was another customer in the showroom that heard this conversation. We upgraded our order over $650 to include the standard inward opening door. Two weeks later, I learned that the door that we upgraded to couldve been placed to open outward. When I found this out, I was really furious. Especially, after having ***** come out two times to fix everything that the installers did wrong and didnt do. The second week ***** asked me why I got a door that opened inward. I told him because that was the only way they came. He said that was incorrect. He also teaches the subcontractors how to install sheds and goes around and fixes all of the installers mistakes. I contacted corporate and spoke to someone. Then I was referred to the district manager whom doesnt believe that my son and I were told that those doors only open inward by *****. But that is what we were told and if you find the customer that was in the showroom, then the truth will be known. Before the door issue, I spoke locally and was offered a $200 refund for my inconvenience due to poor quality craftsmanship by the installers and poor quality material. The district manager will replace the door to open outwards for over $350. For he doesnt believe that ***** said that they only open inward. I upgraded the shed two times, and dont feel I should have to pay for another door that opens outwards.Business Response

pending the customers availability. Service was scheduled for Saturday 11/16 but the customer cancelled the appointment and will be getting back to us for a future date.
Change of the door is in lieu of any compensation offered prior and will be the total resolution.Customer Answer

I purchased a shed for my rental property on March 27th 2024. I was promised the shed would be built in 4-8 weeks. It wasnt built until 9/12/24. After the shed was built it failed a home inspection. Then after the home failed the inspection they pressured me into signing a completion of job order. It wasnt until I pointed out that they were prohibited by law from asking me to sign this that the pressure stopped. I paid 550 dollars for shed anchors they were never installed and 110 dollars for two vents that were never installed. The company did not help me resolve the issue until I complained to corporate. The ** ***** ****** got involved and asked me about the structure.I explained to him the situation and told him it would be best if a manager go to the site and take pictures. His exact words were he did not want to send someone to my house due to it being a 5 hour car ride. This was a lie. ******* is 2.5 hours away. I lived there for 5 years. I explained to him that explained to that I live 4 hours away and cannot drive to ******** for pictures. I already took off 9 days of work for the project costing me over 7500 in lost wages. Additionally I was unable to rent my property due to poor coordination on there part. This cost me 9750 in potential rent revenue. As the home sits today. It still hasnt passed inspection and items unpaid for have not been installed.Business Response

This building was built, and it did pass the building inspection.
What it did not pass was for the Certificate of Occupancy.
We have already scheduled an FCT visit on 11/4/2024 to finish the last few things to ensure it can pass that next. Customer is aware and agreed.
It needs 2 things for occupancy:
Anti-shatter safety film on the windows in the stairwellHandrails that return to the wall at both the top and bottom of the stairs. No blunt ends.
Unrelated to occupancy, it needs concrete anchors per the customers request vs dirt anchors and per the inspector 4+ anchors would be sufficient.

I am rejecting this response because: there is nothing scheduled to fix the issue. November 4th is a fictitious day! Additionally, I paid 440 dollars to anchor the building appropriately which were not installed which is why the building DID fail inspection. The building needs to be anchored in order to pass the building inspection. After learning that the building was not anchored the township advised that the structure was not completed and that the building should FAIL the inspection. Additionally there were vents that were paid for that were not installed.

Yes. The company showed up unannounced. We live in ******* and the home is in ********. It would have been nice to know they were coming. In order to enter the shed to make repairs, the contractor removed a window. This set off my security alarm. Additionally, the company charged us 440 For anchors that were never used. We are currently seeking a refund. On top of that the contractor called and asked where we would like the vents to be places. We had no idea where to place them so there was a lot of back and forth with management. Ultimate while my wife and I were at work we had to make a decision. This entire project has been a nightmare! Poor communication! We were told the home would be built in 4-8 weeks and its hopefully finished today after 28 weeks. When I spoke with ***** in June she told me the reason for the delay was due to a change order. *****, the manager, told me ***** was an idiot and there were no change orders. ***** stated that shed this big take along time. ***** ****** the ** followed up and said that **** the sales man should not have told me that the shed would take that long to build. Today when I spoke to ***** she stressed how sorry she was that the change order did in fact happen. After the home was initially built on 9-13-24. ****** from the livonia store was pressuring me to sign a release. This was release was to certify that all work was completed. On her second attempt to get me to sign the release. I pointed out to her, that in the document tuff shed was
prohibited by law from asking me to sign this until the job was completed. Its two Mon that after that and the shed might be done.

He will be owed a small refund of about $40 which has been sent to our processing team.
Please let us know if there is anything we can assist with.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
Sincerely,
****** *******No one from your company advised us these repairs were being completed. Your contractor showed up at the house and in order to enter the structure had to remove a window which set off my security alarm. Also your contractor did not have the appropriate ladder to install the vents on the second floor. the refund should be more than 40 dollars. We paid 440 for anchors not 340. I Believe your company should cover the cost of the safety film. When I bought this structure my understanding was the house wss
to be habitable. Additionally, I missed 9 days of work through this companys miscommunication resulting in lost wages of 7560. Also, my property was not rented for 39 days resulting in lost rent revenue of 9360. This greatly damaged my business. This doesnt include the damages associated with the shed taking 7 months to be completed. The purpose of this shed was to increase occupancies and rent revenue for *************. Due to the miscommunication the 2025 rental season will experience losses. For all these reasons and more is the reason I have retained legal council.

We were scheduled for an install on 9-7-2024. Nobody showed up at all and we contacted customer service which confirmed the install was that day. We asked that someone please contact us on Monday. The contractor called that evening and said he was sick and would the next day be okay to install (9-8-2024). We said that would be fine. The contractor showed up and informed us they could not finish because they were missing one piece of wood for the roof and that they would not out the shingles on until they had that piece. We spoke to the *** from Tuff Shed and informed him of the unacceptable way the shed was put together. Gaps between the floor and frame, gaps in the roof and them not finishing. The *** for Tuff Shed asked for pictures. After he reviewed the pictures he did confirm that it was unacceptable and that they would come tear the shed down and give us a new one, assuring us that there would be a Tuff Shed *** onsite and different contractors to do the correct install. We were assigned a tear down date of 9-23-2024 as to again nobody showed to do. We called again the *** we have been dealing with and he is now not returning any calls back to us. The contractor did end up calling and said they would be there the following day on 9-24-2024. The new shed is set to arrive on 9-25-2024.The contractor called and said they were not able to make it that day and would take the shed down on the install date( same contractors that installed originally). They informed us we were not getting a new shed as originally said but just a ***lacement floor and roof. We called the *** ******* and he has yet to return a call to us. Well, it is now 9-25-2024 and no installers here . We called the contracted installer and asked where they were. They said the wrong kit is at the pick up location and they are not sure where our is. At this point we have had it with Tuff Shed and want a refund.Business Response

Tuff shed garage built, shingles on roof are falling off after the roof was already replaced once under warranty. Siding and trim on the garage have expanded or absorbed water causing nails to sink, not sealed or painted properly.Door frames were never painted by contractor and are now rotting and falling apart. When stairs were installed, a board was cut while installed on exterior wall leaving an open cut in the siding exposed.I have called the warranty line to corporate July 15 and file a claim (case #********). Had inspection on the garage issues July 31st.I had heard nothing from tuff shed for weeks. Finally called **** from the local tuff shed I was coordinating with, **** said "he had to talk to warranty coordinator, he would call me back tomorrow". That was on august 26th 11:35am today is September 10th still have heard nothing back from anybody, about the issues or scheduling anything to fix the issues.any further contact by tuff shed to my email *****************Business Response

I purchased a Tuff Shed building in **************************** August of 2023. In March, 2024, I realized there was a water leak around the doors. I contacted Tuff Shed on March 18, 2024 and they sent two people out to fix the leak. They did not bring a ladder nor tools, just silicone so they had to use my personal ladder. On May 20, 2024, I found the shed to be leaking at the doors again. Contacted Tuff Shed and they sent someone out to repair the leak 11 days later. After next heavy rainfall from the North/Northeast in July, I called them July 31, 2024 about doors still leaking and also leaking at North window. By that time, the floor was showing evidence of water damage all the way back to the South wall (24 feet.) They finally sent someone out on August 17, 2024 (again, just brought more silicone, but with some tools.) On September 1, 2024 we had a heavy rainfall and there are leaks at doors and window again. I contacted Tuff Shed on September 4, 2024 (today.) I have taken pictures of the leaks since May 2024. I have been unable to use the shed as intended (as a woodworking hobby shop) due to the continued water leaks. Tuff Shed is not taking adequate measures to adequately identify and correct the underlying cause or causes of the leaks.Business Response

Ordered 7/1/2024 a Shed built with a Trusses with Loft and $1,741.50 was added to the bill for the cost of the Loft. Shed was finalized and inspected by county and Tuff Shed's representative refuses to deduct that line item from my bill. After the Shed was finalized some deficiencies were fixed but no Loft was installed.Business Response

The customer purchased an attic truss with loft upgrade. When we went to build the shed we didnt have the sheets for the loft in the attic truss portions. The next day we came back to finish the build. He turned the sub-contractors away and told them he does not want the materials for the loft; he stated he thought the loft would span the whole roof. He now wants the attic truss with loft to be fully refunded. We were trying to give only a portion back to the customer since he still has the attic truss upgrade. He does not have the sheets to add the attic truss to make it a loft. He argues since attic truss with loft is one line item, the whole amount should be refunded.
The associate has been in contact with customer, and the ** has instructed him to just go ahead and inform customer we will refund that whole line and adjust amount needed to be over with it.. Other than that, he is happy with his building.Customer Answer

On March 16, 2024, we selected Tuff Shed to build & install a 16x20, two-story shed on our property. We asked lots of questions to *** (salesman) about the layout of the shed, prep we should make for best installation, asked about a concrete slab, to which *** said block was sufficient. Weeks after the purchase, multiple items on the interior had to be changed due to engineering & the computer program not giving realistic expectations of what could be built. We made those changes & moved forward. Two things continue to be a sore point with this ******************* First, the men installing it were surprised they were not showing up to a 'crawl space' - gravel, blocks, footers, etc. since that is what the permit read. *** had assured us that they install units this large and heavy on block all the time. The installers had a different opinion. They mentioned several things that would have made the install of this size shed more secure. This is what I wish I had been told from the day we purchased it in March. I had months to do the proper site work if they had only educated us on that. Today, the blocks are leaning on both sides that are supporting the shed. There has been movement of the shed on the front blocks as well. I reached out after the warranty repair man came for a second time to seal windows (which still leaks) to talk about best ways to secure its foundation. Their reply is that I will be responsible for both the block and labor to correct their original install claiming that leveling is not their problem after the build. It sure seems like it should be their issue since it wasn't installed properly from day one. Second, I texted photos to ***** who was handling any warranty repairs. I had done this since the original install because nearly every window leaked. We still have one or two windows that leak with each rain. It has been two weeks since they received the message which still says READ. No response or schedule for a repair has been made.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The business is failing to recognize the need to honor their given warranty to ensure that our built shed is actually sealed and not leaking.
Secondly, the business response fails to acknowledge any error on the part of Tuff Shed in the process (inquiry to post build) for the issues now experienced with the way the shed is supported (which are failing).
I have further reached out to management at various levels. They have stated that they will actually take action and help rectify the issues. I am hopeful. NOTHING has been done as of yet, but this complaint requires me to respond within 7 days. I doubt it will be resolved within that time. I hope it will be soon though. To be continued...
